Chapter 133: The Forbidden Thing
Boom!
A loud explosion rang out.
Before Pelosi could even speak, she was already blown away by The Hell King’s terrifying destructive power.
Inside the floating castle in the Second Sea Area.
Pelosi suddenly opened her eyes. She was breathing heavily, her pupils shaking. "What was that monster? Where did it get such terrible destructive power?"
She clenched her fists, a look of frustration on her face. "No. I need to check again."
Pelosi didn’t believe Nova could summon something that terrifying.
This time, she gathered all her strength and descended once more into Nova’s soul sea.
She opened her eyes—and immediately saw The Hell King, the same one that had just driven her out.
Red skin. Skeleton-like wings. A face like an evil dragon. And six horns fit for a demon king...
"What kind of monster is this?" the evil god Pelosi gasped.
Then, The Hell King’s dreadful destructive power came crashing down again.
Pelosi quickly used her divine power to dodge.
But even though she escaped The Hell King’s blast, she didn’t escape its massive arms.
The Hell King grabbed Pelosi’s consciousness with all six of its arms. No matter how hard Pelosi struggled, the giant hands didn’t budge.
Then, as Pelosi watched in terror, The Hell King stared at her like she was some kind of pet.
Pelosi’s lips started trembling uncontrollably. Suddenly, The Hell King opened its giant mouth and poured its horrible destructive energy straight down Pelosi’s throat.
Pelosi’s consciousness body burned from the inside out, like she had swallowed lava, and completely turned to gas.
This attack wasn’t just destructive—it also carried a terrible fear curse. Even though Pelosi’s true body was far away in the Second Sea Area, the curse still got to her. Her face was full of shock and terror, and cold sweat dripped down her forehead.
Damn it!
"Nova’s soul has been taken over by that monster. Where did Kevin get that thing from? I can’t accept this!" Pelosi roared in fury.
On the "Daddy" Cannon.
Kevin had been watching the whole fight between Pelosi and The Hell King from the sidelines.
Even though he didn’t know how strong Pelosi’s true body really was, it was clear that inside Nova’s soul sea, The Hell King’s consciousness was way stronger than Pelosi’s.
And that was more than enough.
Kevin slowly pulled himself out of Nova’s soul sea.
Nova stretched comfortably and shifted into a new position to keep sleeping.
Kevin looked at Nova’s relaxed face and nodded with satisfaction.
Not only had they gotten through the crisis, but Nova had also gained the power of an evil god. Kevin’s team had just made a huge leap forward.
Thinking about this, Kevin took stock of his resources.
Even though he had spent over seven hundred C-Tier items to get [the Hell King’s Soul Stone] for Nova, he still had about seventeen hundred C-Tier items and over thirty B-Tier items left.
With these resources, he could easily get two more S-Tier items from the Eldritch Marketplace.
So Kevin pulled out the most basic **Eldritch Merchant Summoning Talisman**.
This was the same kind of talisman he had used to summon Lilith. The problem was, it summoned a random Eldritch merchant.
Kevin didn’t want to deal with Lilith anymore. Even if it meant losing the discounts and perks from the Eldritch Mall VIP Card, he’d rather just summon a new merchant to serve him.
He had money. He wasn’t going to take Lilith’s crap anymore.
Kevin tore the [Eldritch Merchant Summoning Talisman].
Thick smoke rose up quickly, and Eldritch magic runes formed a blood-red magic circle right in front of Kevin.
Then, a pale arm reached out from the magic circle, feeling around. It pressed down on the floor and popped out a little head. "Who dares to summon me?"
Kevin listened to this Eldritch’s voice and looked down.
Well, damn. The Eldritch merchant he had summoned this time was actually a little girl less than a meter and a half tall. She looked like she was maybe ten years old at most.
"Are you really an Eldritch merchant?" Kevin asked, looking at her suspiciously. He even secretly wondered if the [Eldritch Merchant Summoning Talisman] had expired from sitting around too long.
The little girl brushed off her skirt, flipped her golden hair, stomped her foot, and put her hands on her hips. "Hmph! Human, don’t look down on Lady Anne. Lady Anne can beat you to a pulp, you know."
Kevin listened to the little girl’s threat, which had absolutely no weight behind it, and sighed. "Whatever. Just give me your trade list."
The Eldritch merchant named Anne rubbed her nose, then dug around under her skirt for a while. Finally, she pulled out a scroll and handed it over to Kevin.
Kevin took one look at it and his jaw dropped. "Don’t you have anything higher-grade? Why is it all B-Tier items?"
Anne’s eyes went wide. "Don’t you dare look down on me! How strong can you even be, and you’re already turning your nose up at B-Tier items? I’m warning you, if you don’t buy anything from Anne, I’ll beat you to death!"
Kevin handed the scroll back to Anne and said, "How about you just leave? I’ll just summon another Eldritch merchant. You don’t have anything I need."
Anne was furious. "What? You dare to say my stock isn’t good enough? Just you wait!"
Blood-red flames suddenly ignited in Anne’s pupils.
The flames grew bigger and bigger, like lanterns, reflecting the face of a giant bear behind them.
By the time Kevin’s attention pulled away from those two flames, the little girl Anne had completely transformed into a patchwork teddy bear with a violent look in its eyes.
The bear slammed its paw down.
Kevin’s eyes went wide as he quickly activated his shield.
Bam! The claw sent Kevin flying.
If it weren’t for the fact that Kevin had mastered the [Wheels of Flame & Wind] talent, he would have fallen straight into the sea.
That was a lot of strength.
Kevin rubbed his sore arm and stared coldly at Anne.
He knew that according to Eldritch Marketplace rules, if he didn’t buy anything at all, the Eldritch merchant was allowed to attack him.
Thinking about that, Kevin cursed under his breath. "What bad luck!"
He went back over to Anne and held up his hand to stop the violent teddy bear from hitting him again. "Alright, stop! I’ll buy something, okay?"
Kevin summoned a whole dozen C-Tier items at once.
When Anne saw them, the flames in her eyes went out instantly and turned into little stars.
She quickly shrank back down into her little girl form, hopped over to Kevin, and shoved the marketplace scroll back into his arms. "Awesome, awesome! So many C-Tier items! Anne finally made a big sale today!"
Kevin rolled his eyes as he looked through the items on the scroll.
Even though he didn’t really need any weapons, armor, or Eldritch Artifacts below B-Tier, he could still buy some luxury stuff like whiskey and cigars.
Kevin waved his hand and tossed three C-Tier items to Anne, buying a whole pile of cigarettes and booze.
Seeing how generous Kevin was, Anne got really excited. "Dear customer, are you rich? Oh wait, I mean, do you have a lot of C-Tier items?"
Kevin shot her a dirty look. "Isn’t that obvious? I’m a two-star Eldritch Marketplace VIP, you know?"
Kevin held back his annoyance and was about to send Anne off and summon a different Eldritch merchant.
But then Anne suddenly handed him a black card and whispered sneakily, "This is a Black Market VIP card. Don’t tell anyone. With this card, you can buy all kinds of forbidden stuff."
Kevin quietly took the card and looked it over carefully. The card looked a lot like the [Eldritch Mall VIP Card], except that one used diamonds to show the VIP level, while this [Black Market VIP Card] used skulls.
Kevin looked up and smiled. "What kind of good stuff does the Black Market have? If I have money, why wouldn’t I just go to a regular Eldritch Marketplace merchant to buy items?"
Anne looked around left and right, made sure no one was watching, then leaned in close to Kevin and whispered, "The Black Market sells the really hardcore stuff you can’t get through normal channels. If you have enough items, Anne wouldn’t mind showing you something special."
Kevin was amused by the little girl’s attitude.
He waved his hand, and suddenly eighty-one C-Tier items appeared on the ground.
"Is this enough?"
Anne’s eyes went wide when she saw them.
She nodded frantically, afraid that Kevin might change his mind. "Enough, enough! Lady Anne will show you right now just how many treasures the Black Market has."
She handed Kevin a pitch-black scroll with white smoke rising from it.
When Kevin unrolled the scroll and looked at it, he was completely stunned.
Sure enough, whatever the regular Eldritch Marketplace didn’t sell, the Black Market sold exactly that.
The very first thing that caught Kevin’s eye was an item labeled as a forbidden object.
[Sword of Slaughter: A-Tier Forbidden Item. The wielder can activate the killing intent within the sword to slay enemies. While the killing intent is active, for every enemy killed within a one-minute interval, the wielder accumulates one unit of Killing Power. Each unit of Killing Power increases the final damage dealt by the wielder. Cost of Use: Each time the Sword of Slaughter is used, the wielder must kill at least one hundred enemies. Otherwise, the Sword of Slaughter will be permanently shattered.]
Kevin stared at the [Sword of Slaughter], and his breathing grew heavy.
No wonder this kind of item never appeared on the normal Eldritch Marketplace item list.
An item that could stack damage infinitely—calling it a forbidden object was only right.
For any powerful Survivor, this item was a dream come true.
As long as someone held the [Sword of Slaughter] and killed enough Eldritch Entities, there was even a chance of slaying a god.
No wonder such an item couldn’t be found through regular channels.
Kevin looked at Anne and frowned. "Why did you give me the Black Market VIP card? Do other Survivors have this card?"
Anne blinked at Kevin and smiled. "Don’t think I don’t know. You’re a two-star VIP of the Eldritch Marketplace. In the entire [First Sea Area], there isn’t a single Eldritch Marketplace VIP—let alone a Black Market VIP."
