Chapter 81: Underestimated
Soon, a Captain wielding two swords rushed over.
He was short and quick on his feet. In just a few leaps, his blades carved countless wounds into the three Eldritch jellyfish.
The Eldritch jellyfish began to squirm wildly. The cuts were healing right before their eyes.
But soon, the wounds that had already healed halfway split open again.
The Captain with the two swords smirked. "Wounds made by me, Kamiza Saki, can never heal."
As soon as he finished speaking, the three Eldritch jellyfish finally collapsed to the ground, drained of too much fluid.
Robin and Tom merged again and rushed forward quickly.
They grabbed the Eldritch jellyfish, pulled hard, and easily tore them in half along the cuts Kamiza Saki had made.
They turned and looked at Kamiza Saki. "Is that your Talent?"
Kamiza Saki nodded. "My ability is called ’Incurable.’ It means that unless I die, any damage I cause can never be repaired."
Hearing this, Robin and Tom both took a step back. "Your ability is way too twisted."
Kamiza Saki said with a mysterious air: "Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, even that terrifying giant monster won’t be able to withstand my damage."
At that moment, Oliver walked over slowly. He gently patted Kamiza Saki on the shoulder and grinned. "Hehehe. Kamiza is our team’s biggest secret weapon. Even if Raphael and Nova can’t stop the giant monster and the storm, we still have our own ways to deal with the enemy."
Meanwhile, Derek and Richard stood on a hilltop. They had been watching the battle on the coastline the whole time.
Since Raphael and Oliver had more people on their side, the first wave of Eldritch Entities was quickly pushed back.
Derek looked at Richard and frowned. "Why are you grinning like that? Wait... why have you been staring at the beach where Nova and Celula are?"
Richard grinned. "I thought they were supposed to be strong. But look at them—they’re just a bunch of women. Except for Celula and that sharpshooter, the rest of them, including Nova, can only play support. They have no real fighting ability."
Derek got interested. "That’s a good thing. We can use this Eldritch Entity attack to wear them down. I’m sure they’ll reveal their trump card soon enough."
Richard grinned again. "Of course. I’ve already made the arrangements. Just watch."
Derek followed Richard’s finger.
Sure enough, Fatoumata and a few Captains, taking advantage of Raphael and Toti being busy fighting, quietly slipped into the beach where Nova and Celula were.
Using the cover of night, they moved through the dark corners. Soon, they dropped the pre-prepared Elite Eldritch Entity blood near the Two-Masted Sloop.
Kevin was messing around with his cannon on the beach when he happened to spot Valentina and a few Captains sneaking around.
He grinned. "I was just thinking there weren’t enough monsters tonight. And now you guys bring us such a big gift. What nice people!"
Kevin squinted and watched Fatoumata and the Captains walk away. "Hmph. I’ll let you have one more day."
As allies, Kevin didn’t want to start a fight with them just yet.
The reason was simple: the more Survivors there were, the more Eldritch Entities and giant monsters would show up to attack.
Kevin was actually hoping these Captains would attract even more Eldritch Entities for him to kill.
On the deck of the Two-Masted Sloop, the girls were working together, taking down the Eldritch Entities that climbed aboard.
Nova stood in the back, humming tunes from time to time.
Every note she sang weakened the Eldritch Entities, making them sluggish, slow, and weak.
In that state, whether they were Eldritch Lobsters or Eldritch Jellyfish, they were all just sitting ducks.
Celula rode her Wheels of Flame & Wind, cutting through the air with trails of red fire.
Every flame was like a scythe sweeping across the battlefield, killing countless Eldritch Entities.
"This feels amazing! Sister Nova, your ability goes perfectly with my Wheels of Flame & Wind," Celula said with excitement as she circled in the air.
Whenever she saw a chance, she would dive down and stomp hard on the heads and shells of the Eldritch Entities with her Wheels of Flame & Wind.
Up in the crow’s nest, Nova and Monchhichi stood together. They both held Vulcan Cannons, firing non-stop at the Eldritch Entities that had been separated from the group.
Most of these Eldritch Entities had already been hit by Celula’s Wheels of Flame & Wind, so they had lost a lot of their strength. Under the combined fire from Nova and Monchhichi, they quickly died and turned into points on the scoreboard.
Luna and Amelia stayed by the cabin door the whole time. Only when an Eldritch Entity managed to get past Nova and Monchhichi’s fire did they shoot.
With the [Big Fireball] Enchant, almost every bullet Amelia and Luna fired killed the enemy instantly.
Another Eldritch Jellyfish fell. Luna frowned at the puddle of water left behind. "These things are so gross."
She casually threw a bottle of [Tear of the Goddess].
The glass shattered, and the splashing [Tear of the Goddess] quickly cleaned the entire deck.
Amelia shook her head. "Luna, if Kevin finds out you’re wasting ’Tear of the Goddess’ like this, he’s going to spank you."
Luna rolled her eyes at Amelia. "I’m just cleaning up the battlefield for Nova and the others. By the way, don’t you think there are too many Eldritch Entities on our side tonight?"
Amelia nodded and said in a serious voice, "Kevin just sent word. A few rats sneaked over and dropped Eldritch Entity blood on our beach."
Luna didn’t look nervous at all. Instead, she relaxed. "That’s good, actually. By tomorrow morning, Nova, Celula, and Monchhichi should all be near the top of the scoreboard."
She grinned. "Then we’ll have even more food to work with. I just hope the scoreboard rewards include some skincare products."
Amelia smiled, took out a bullet, and started practicing her Enchant.
"Hey, didn’t you already use up all your uses for today?" Luna frowned at Amelia, confused.
Soon, Amelia’s body shook. The bullet in her hand melted into a lump of metal.
Amelia sighed and tossed the lump into the sea. "Failed again. I was just trying to develop my ability and see if there’s a way to get past the limit on how many times I can use Enchant."
She turned her head and looked toward the beach where Kevin was. Her eyes were distant. "Otherwise, with my current Enchant limit, I can’t support the team in a big fight."
Luna’s face showed a hint of shame. "You’re working so hard. All I do every day is make [Tear of the Goddess] on time. I can’t really do anything else. But speaking of developing Talents and abilities, I think I should try to become a potion maker someday."
Luna took out a bottle of Eldritch Eyes Holy Spring and started drinking it right in front of Amelia.
Amelia was stunned for a moment. "Nova and the others don’t need you to use [The Fixing Gaze] to support them. Why are you drinking that?"
Luna grinned and shook her head. "What if I told you I can drink this stuff like water, with no side effects? Would you believe me?"
Amelia’s body went stiff, like she’d been shocked. "Luna, do you even know what you’re saying?"
Luna laughed. "I’m serious. Of course, it wasn’t like this at first. But I found out by accident that the more I drank it, the weaker the side effects got."
"Now, when I drink Holy Spring that’s been soaked with Eldritch Eyes, it just tastes awful. It doesn’t lower my Sanity anymore."
As soon as she said that, Luna’s eyes turned bright red.
Blood-red threads spread out from her pupils. A red beam shot out and hit an Eldritch Lobster right in the body.
Right after that, Monchhichi turned her Vulcan Cannon and opened fire. A storm of bullets tore through the Eldritch Lobster, turning it into Swiss cheese.
Amelia’s eyes went wide. She turned to look at Luna with envy. "Looks like you’ve found a way to develop your Talent."
Luna nodded. "I don’t know if it’s the right path, but at least it makes me stronger in a fight."
What Luna said shook Amelia deeply.
She quietly took out a bullet and held it tightly in her hand. "Maybe I should look at my Enchantment Talent from a different angle too."
Without realizing it, the battle on the other two beaches was almost over.
Fatoumata quietly led her people back to the battlefield. Right in front of Raphael and Toti, they killed the last two Eldritch Entities.
They pretended to be out of breath, acting like they had no energy left.
"Finally... it’s finally over." Fatoumata wiped the blood off her body and looked back at the Two-Masted Sloop not far away. "Looks like we’re ahead. Nova and Celula still haven’t finished their fight."
Raphael listened to Fatoumata’s explanation and looked confused. "That doesn’t make sense. Any one of them could easily take down someone like Derek. Shouldn’t dealing with these Eldritch Lobsters and Eldritch Jellyfish be even easier for them?"
At that moment, Toti walked over with the Vulcan Cannon on his shoulder.
The barrel was still glowing red, with wisps of white smoke rising from it.
"Raphael, do you think the Two-Masted Sloop is having trouble over there? Maybe we should go help them out?" Toti pulled out a full ammo belt and quickly snapped it into the bottom of the Vulcan Cannon.
Raphael looked a little worried. "Let’s just the two of us go. Everyone else, stay here and rest. The storm hasn’t hit yet. If they can’t handle this, then working with them is going to be a big problem."
With that, Raphael turned and looked out at the horizon. His eyes were distant. "Don’t let me down, Celula. Nova."
