Chapter 82: The Giant Monster Appears

On a more distant beach, Oliver and the others had already finished their fight.

While the crew members were busy cleaning up the battlefield, Oliver, Robin, Tom, and Kamiza Saki sat around a campfire, quietly discussing things.

"It looks like the Two-Masted Sloop is having some trouble." Oliver picked up a bowl of hot water, blew on it, and drank it all in one go.

Robin held Tom’s hand and turned to look at the beach a few kilometers away.

Over there, Raphael and his group had already finished their battle.

Only the Two-Masted Sloop still had its lights on. Every now and then, they could see the Vulcan Cannon firing.

Tom squeezed Robin’s hand. "Celula and Nova can’t be that weak, can they? Even we took care of the enemies easily. Why are they taking so long?"

Kamiza Saki grabbed a roasted Eldritch Lobster leg and took a big bite. "Hey, this is the best-tasting Eldritch Entity I’ve eaten so far. Are you sure you don’t want some? Eating one leg only lowers your Sanity a little bit."

Oliver looked up and spoke in a serious voice. "At the end of the day, we’ve been counting on the Two-Masted Sloop to deal with those giant monsters. But right now, they don’t seem to be showing us enough power."

Kamiza Saki spat. "Why worry about that? When the time comes, you just need to cover me. I refuse to believe that a giant monster can survive a few thousand of my cuts."

Oliver shook his head. "I don’t know if the monster will die. But I’m sure it won’t just let you cut it a few thousand times without fighting back."

Oliver stood up and started walking toward the Two-Masted Sloop.

"What are you doing?" Robin and Tom both stood up and followed him.

Oliver didn’t look back. He said quietly, "You two stay here. I’ll go over and help. No matter what, we’re allies now."

On the cliffside, Richard and Derek looked disappointed.

They had been watching the battle on the Two-Masted Sloop the whole time. But even now, they still hadn’t seen Nova, Celula, or the others show any other abilities.

Richard quietly put down his binoculars and let out a sigh. "Looks like they don’t have any more tricks up their sleeves."

Derek also looked disappointed. "Other than that woman who can freeze people in place, the rest of them aren’t really that much stronger than us."

Richard snorted. "Exactly. A team like that doesn’t stand a chance against the giant monsters. We need to be ready. We should get into the cave early."

Richard turned and walked back to his companions. "Start setting up the traps on the mountain path right now. From now on, anyone who tries to come up the mountain dies. That cave is the only way we survive. We’re not sharing it with anyone."

The captains nodded and got to work.

There was only one path from the beach up to the cliff. Along the way, they laid down a lot of landmines, traps, and tripwires.

With the night being so dark, one wrong step could get someone hurt or even killed by their own traps.

About half an hour later, all the traps were set and active.

Richard nodded with satisfaction and led the group into the cave.

Just as they were about to seal the entrance, a strong wind suddenly started blowing.

The trees on the island were bent and tossed around. Small rocks and sand were swept up by the wind, hitting the survivors hard.

Richard quickly grabbed the wall of the cave entrance to steady himself. "Damn it! The storm is here!"

As soon as he said that, his body quickly turned to stone.

His heavy, massive body helped him regain his balance.

With a loud roar, Richard grabbed a boulder as big as a person and dragged it in front of the cave entrance, blocking the raging wind.

Richard returned to his normal form, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and said in a serious voice, "Dewayne, take a look at what’s happening outside."

The captain named Dewayne nodded.

He took out a bottle of water and poured it onto the stone wall. Soon, the wall started showing images of the coastline, just like a monitor.

Derek saw this and whistled. "That’s a pretty useful ability. Perfect for spying on girls taking baths."

The other captains heard this and smiled knowingly.

Dewayne quickly adjusted the image to show the beach where the Two-Masted Sloop was.

Right now, the Eldritch Entities surrounding the Two-Masted Sloop hadn’t been cleared out yet.

Oliver, Raphael, and Toti were standing on the outside, providing support.

With Raphael’s close-combat skills, Toti’s heavy firepower, and Oliver’s sound-wave attacks, they formed a triangle formation. They cut through the Eldritch Entities like a knife.

But before they could break through and reach the Two-Masted Sloop, the wind from the sea blew their formation apart.

At that moment, whether they were Eldritch Entities or survivors, almost no one could keep their footing on the sand.

On the deck of the Two-Masted Sloop.

Nova, Celula, and Monchhichi had already prepared.

They grabbed ropes and tied themselves to the ship’s mast to keep from being blown away by the wind.

But Raphael, Toti, and Oliver, who were a few hundred meters away, were in trouble.

On the open beach, there was nothing for them to hold onto. The wind just tossed them around.

Just as Oliver and Raphael were about to be swept up into the sky, Celula stepped on her Wheels of Flame & Wind and shot over to them like a shooting star. "If you don’t want to die, get inside the ship now!"

When they heard Celula’s voice, their eyes lit up.

They were still a few hundred meters away from the Two-Masted Sloop. But they were less than fifty meters away from the deep-sea fishing boat.

With the storm raging, they didn’t care that those boats had already been sold to Kevin. They all rushed into the deep-sea fishing boat.

Once he was back on a ship he was familiar with, Raphael went straight into the cockpit and turned on the monitor.

"Damn it. The wind is already at force 16. This is a super hurricane." Raphael frowned as he looked out the window. His face was dark. "Those monsters are probably about to show up any minute now."

Celula rolled her eyes and turned to walk toward the door.

"Little girl, where are you going?" Toti saw Celula leaving and frowned, calling out to her.

"Back to my friends, of course." Celula left those words behind, pushed the door open, and stepped outside. She jumped onto her Wheels of Flame & Wind and flew up into the sky.

Using the [Wind’s Aegis] and [Dance of the Winds] skills from her [Windwhisperer] outfit, Celula moved like a spirit in the wind and landed lightly on the deck of the Two-Masted Sloop.

As soon as she landed, Nova grabbed her hand and scolded her. "Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Celula stuck out her tongue. "Relax. I checked the wind speed before I went out to save them. Those three actually care about us, that’s why they came to help. I couldn’t just let them die out there."

Nova rolled her eyes and warned her. "Just this once. Don’t do it again."

The girls went back to the helm.

Stephanie was hiding in a corner of the helm, shaking. The raging wind made her feel completely unsafe.

When she saw Nova and the others come in, Stephanie stood up right away and asked, "What’s happening out there? Why is there such a terrible storm? Is there going to be a tsunami? Can we survive this?"

Facing Stephanie’s endless questions, Monchhichi sighed and said quietly, "From here on out, this is beyond what we can handle."

Stephanie was stunned. "What do you mean?"

Luna gave her a look. "I mean exactly what I said. Haven’t you noticed we’re missing two people?"

Stephanie looked around and her eyes went wide. "Kevin... Kevin hasn’t come back yet? With a storm this bad, can he and Eliana even make it out there?"

On the beach, Kevin had already set up all his equipment.

Eliana stood beside him, using her telekinesis to form a shield that blocked the wind.

Even though the hurricane was blowing at force 16, it only felt like a light breeze to Kevin. He barely felt it, just a little coolness.

Kevin gently ruffled Eliana’s hair and smiled. "It’s really convenient having you around."

Eliana squinted her eyes happily. "Honey, I won’t let anything hurt you."

Kevin sighed. "Don’t worry. I’ve been through this kind of thing more than thirty times."

Kevin sat down on the sand and pulled out a slice of pizza to eat. "See? Here they come."

As soon as Kevin finished speaking, three dark shapes appeared on the distant shoreline.

They were enormous, like moving mountains. Slowly, they walked toward the island.

That’s right — walked, not swam.

Every time they took a step, the whole island shook like an earthquake.

At that moment, the survivors on the other two beaches were completely stunned.

Even though they had prepared themselves mentally and physically, seeing those terrifying bodies and hideous faces again made them tremble with fear.

Some of the weaker survivors even fell to the ground.

"Oh god, why are there three of them? We’re doomed."

"Those things are hundreds of meters tall. Can anyone really fight them?"

"Everyone calm down! They’re spreading out!"

Someone shouted a warning, and everyone looked up.

Sure enough, the three giant monsters split up and moved in from three different directions.

But their target was still this island.

Seeing this, the captains were all shocked.

"Damn it! One of them is coming straight at us!"

"What do you mean, one is coming at you guys? There’s one coming at us too!"

"They’re coming for all three groups. One is attacking Captain Raphael’s position. One is attacking Captain Oliver’s position. And one is heading for the Two-Masted Sloop."

"Wait, what about Richard and his people? Why aren’t the monsters going after them?"

While the survivors were complaining, Richard and Derek were hiding in the cave, wiping the cold sweat off their foreheads.

Richard took a puff from his water pipe and said quietly, "Looks like those women on the Two-Masted Sloop are taking the hit for us."

Derek nodded. "Those three monsters were definitely coming for us. Good thing we found some scapegoats. Let them hold off the monsters for us first."
