Chapter 124: Brothers Turn on Each Other
But the girls were all aiming at different spots. Draven barely managed to block two bullets, but the third sniper round hit him right in the thigh.
Blood sprayed into the air. Draven let out a furious roar and dropped straight down, trying to dive back into the sea and escape again.
On the other side, Black Knight Aaron hadn’t given up.
He wanted to take advantage of the moment when the three girls were busy attacking Draven and Nova was too focused on flying the Attack Helicopter to deal with him. His plan was to destroy the helicopter in one move.
But just as he got close, a strong sense of danger hit him from behind.
Kevin suddenly spread six arms out from his back. Two hands held sniper rifles, two held assault rifles, and two held magic bows and arrows.
In an instant, all three ranged weapons fired at the same time. Black Knight Aaron exploded in midair like fireworks.
He tried to fight through the pain and push toward the Attack Helicopter, hoping to drag a few girls down into the sea with him.
But then Nova raised her arm, revealing a cold psychic crossbow bolt.
The bolt was already fully charged. She shot it straight through the Attack Helicopter’s windshield, heading right for Black Knight Aaron’s chest.
Thud.
Unlike the explosive damage from bullets and magic energy, the explosive particles released by the psychic crossbow bolt dealt heavy spiritual damage to the soul.
Even though Black Knight Aaron had taken so many hits from A-Tier weapons without his armor breaking, just one hit from the psychic crossbow bolt made him feel like his head had taken a heavy blow. His mind went blank, and he instantly fell unconscious.
And so, right in front of Joseph and Justin’s shocked eyes, Draven and Aaron hit the water one after the other.
Bella and Keston had been standing at the back of the Spectral Corsair Vessel, watching everything carefully.
Bella never imagined that even someone as powerful as Black Knight Aaron and Draven couldn’t take down Kevin.
"What kind of man did I give up on?" Bella clenched her fists, her face as pale as snow.
"Bella, don’t be sad," Keston said, holding her shoulders and slowly pulling her back. "Kevin won’t go easy on you. While things are still chaotic, I’ll take you out of here."
Without waiting for Bella to struggle, Keston summoned countless tentacles that wrapped around both of them.
Then they went to the core of the Spectral Corsair Vessel. The heart that had fused with Keston suddenly opened up a crack. Keston pulled Bella inside.
The crack closed quickly. With a splash, they fell into the sea, leaving only the empty shell of the Spectral Corsair Vessel behind.
The Eldritch heart sank to the bottom of the sea and moved away like a submarine, escaping the area.
Kevin didn’t notice any of this. He was too busy watching the despair in Joseph and Justin’s eyes.
It wasn’t until a series of explosions rang out from under the water that Kevin finally shook off Justin and Joseph and flew toward the blast zone.
Just moments ago, after Draven and Black Knight Aaron fell into the sea, the Fish Fiend squad Kevin had summoned rushed at them with bombs.
These bombs were already ten times more powerful than standard high-explosive bombs. And on top of that, Kevin had enchanted each one with ten Great Fireball Runes.
After two rounds of explosions, even Black Knight Aaron and Lone Wolf Draven had no choice but to die on the spot.
Kevin fished the armor and two boomerangs out of the sea and grinned. "Nice stuff. This trip was worth it."
[The Knight’s Armor Set (5/5): A-Tier Set. When all five pieces are worn together, the wearer’s stats all increase by 20%.]
[Set Effect 1 "Seamless Defense": With the full set, all five pieces merge into one full-body armor. Defense gets an extra 500% boost, giving the wearer total protection with no weak spots.]
[Set Effect 2 "Damage Split": With the full set, any damage taken to any part of the body is spread evenly across the whole armor. This can reduce the damage to as low as 20%.]
[Set Effect 3 "Burn the Boats": When the armor gets damaged, the defense stats it provided are instantly turned into attack stats. The attack power gained this way gets an extra 500% boost and lasts for thirty seconds.]
Kevin looked at the set in his hands and couldn’t stop smiling.
No wonder Black Knight Aaron had such crazy defense. This armor set was basically a tank’s dream gear.
Good thing he hadn’t tried to fight Black Knight Aaron head-on. If he had gotten into close combat and broken Aaron’s defense, that guy’s last-ditch attack before dying would have definitely put Kevin’s life in danger.
Thinking about that gave Kevin chills.
He was glad he hadn’t been stubborn enough to fight that guy to the death. Next time he went into battle, he needed to be more careful.
Then Kevin turned to look at the pair of boomerangs Draven had left behind.
But before he could check their stats, the armor and boomerangs in his hands suddenly disappeared.
"What the hell?!" Kevin was furious.
How could gear he already had in his hands just vanish?
Angry, Kevin turned to look at the deck of the Spectral Corsair Vessel.
Right now, Joseph and Justin were desperately trying to steer the ship.
Even if they were idiots, they knew they were no match for Kevin.
But no matter how hard they pushed, they couldn’t move the Spectral Corsair Vessel an inch.
Joseph slammed his fist on the wheel and cursed, "Why won’t the ship move?"
At that moment, Justin rushed back into the cockpit and threw his hands up. "Don’t bother. I just went down to check the hull. The Eldritch heart is gone. Keston must’ve taken Bella and slipped away while we were fighting."
"You bastard!" Joseph smashed the glass next to him in anger. But he hit it so hard that he blew half the cockpit away.
Joseph stared in shock at the cheap, flimsy wreckage in front of him. "How is this ship so fragile?"
Justin pried at the wall and suddenly found that it crumbled like a cracker. He didn’t even need to use any strength.
"Damn it! Without the heart powering it, this ship is going down." Justin’s face was full of panic.
By then, Kevin had also noticed something was wrong with the Spectral Corsair Vessel.
He didn’t go back to the deck. Instead, he gave the girls an order. "Focus fire on that ship."
The moment he gave the command, Amelia, Monchhichi, and Celula all raised their RPG launchers at the same time. Rocket after rocket flew toward the Spectral Corsair Vessel like they cost nothing.
The ship that had once ruled the Terror Sea in all its glory was now engulfed in flames.
Joseph and Justin rushed to the deck, but before the two brothers could even jump off to escape, the Spectral Corsair Vessel exploded into pieces.
Kevin looked at the two brothers struggling in the water, his voice cold as ice. "In our past lives, the two of you worked together to kill me. In this life, I’m not going to let you die so easily."
Kevin pulled out a rapier and stabbed it straight into his own femoral artery.
Drop by drop, his blood fell into the sea. Soon, a thick, bloody mist spread across the surface of the water.
"Kevin! What are you doing?" Nova looked at him with a pained expression.
Kevin didn’t pay any attention to the girls’ concern.
He kept bleeding himself, then drank the [Tear of the Goddess] to restore the life he was losing.
Only when he felt the Eldritch mist around him was thick enough did he finally look down at the twin brothers struggling in the water with satisfaction.
"If there was a ship, I’m sure the two of you could survive. Too bad there isn’t even a single plank of wood around here." Kevin turned and flew onto the Dragon Form Mist Phantom. "Hope you like the way I’ve chosen for you to die."
Celula was the first to rush over and check Kevin’s wound. Only after she was sure it had healed did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.
"You scared me to death." Celula smacked Kevin hard on the chest.
Kevin pulled her into his arms, and only then did she settle down.
"Let’s go!"
Not long after Kevin and the others left, one creepy Eldritch Entity after another surfaced from the sea.
They let out hoarse, bloodthirsty sounds and closed in on Joseph and Justin.
Joseph’s face went cold as he watched more and more Eldritch Entities gathering around them. He gritted his teeth and said, "Justin, we can’t just die like this. You have to help me."
Justin glanced at his own brother and said coldly, "Now you think I can help you? When you abandoned me back then, why didn’t you think about that?"
"This isn’t the time for you to be stubborn," Joseph argued.
Justin let out a cold laugh. "I’m not being stubborn. I’ve just seen through your lies. Don’t think that just because I’m on the same ship as you, it means I’ve forgiven you. I only came along to get back what’s mine."
"What’s yours? What here belongs to you? I gave you everything you have!" Joseph shouted back, trying to defend himself.
Justin sneered. "[Resonance Amplification] is our twin Talent. When I get stronger, you get stronger too."
"All along, you’ve been training me with everything you’ve got, just so you could get power through me, right? When I grew strong enough, you planned to kill me. Then the power inside me would transfer to you."
"At that point, your own strength would double. Am I right?"
Hearing this, Joseph’s face showed a hint of guilt. "What are you talking about? We grew up together. How could I ever do that to you?"
Justin burst out laughing. "You’ve already done it to me. So, my dear brother, don’t blame me for what happens next."
Justin suddenly swung his hand and slapped Joseph. A huge handprint was left on Joseph’s shoulder, marking it with a unique six-pointed star symbol.
Then Justin showed a cruel smile. "Great evil god Soros, I, Justin, offer you my body and soul. And I give you my brother as a sacrifice. I beg for your favor."
Hearing this, Joseph’s face suddenly filled with panic. "What did you do to me?"
