Chapter 95: A Mysterious Ritual
Kevin closed his eyes and quietly sensed the Survivors in this ocean.
When he used his sense, the whole sea around him appeared in his mind like a map.
Small and large points of light flickered in different spots. Some were grouped together in twos or threes, while others floated alone.
It seemed these points of light were the coordinates of the Survivors.
The brighter the light, the stronger the Survivor.
Realizing this, Kevin turned to look at the twin sisters, who were still fast asleep.
Looks like these two girls were holding back on me all along, he thought.
When they first asked for my help, they must have already seen how strong I was.
Curious, Kevin began scanning the Survivors in the sea around him.
His scanning range was ten times wider than that of Celula and the Monchhichi sisters. With just one sweep, he could find hundreds of Survivors.
After comparing, Kevin noticed that most Survivors had light points as dim as Stephanie’s.
Looks like a lot of Survivors have been barely surviving until now, still too scared to get stronger.
Even if they stayed alive, they would eventually become food for this terrifying ocean.
Kevin sighed. At the same time, he noticed that some bright light points nearby suddenly went dark.
Clearly, those Survivors hadn’t made it through the storm. Either their whole ship had sunk, or their entire team had become a meal for some Eldritch monster.
But what made Kevin happy was that within a radius of 2,500 nautical miles, no Survivor team could compare to his own group.
Thinking about this, Kevin couldn’t hold back his excitement. They had just gone through a big battle, and they hadn’t even finished counting their loot yet.
Once they finish consuming this latest haul, their strength will undoubtedly grow even further.
By then, Kevin’s crew is bound to become the rulers of this terrifying stretch of sea.
So Kevin stretched, yawned, and said: "Finally, some rest."
He slowly flew back to the Two-Masted Sloop and quietly slipped into the four-berth crew cabin where the twin sisters were staying.
That night, Kevin slept more soundly than ever.
But not every Survivor could get through the night so peacefully.
After a whole night of violent storms and attacks from Eldritch giants, many Survivors had lost their lives.
Even as the sky began to lighten, plenty of Survivors were still fleeing from Eldritch monsters, struggling to survive through hurricanes and tidal waves.
At that moment, the World Channel was filled with anger and complaints.
"When will this damn hurricane ever stop? My ship’s falling apart. Guys, my coordinates are 192.731. Can anyone come save me?"
"Don’t be so ungrateful. We’ve been chased by an Eldritch giant for nearly ten nautical miles. Right now, that monster is eating the ship behind us. Once it’s done, it’s our turn."
"My companions have all died. Now I am being gang raped by a group of Tauren. May I ask if I can ask them for something to eat after they finish enjoying themselves."
This is simply not a test that a normal Survivor can pass. If anyone can kill that skyscraper like monster, I will live stream licking his cock."
Just as the survivors were on the brink of despair, a bright light suddenly appeared in the sky.
Immediately afterwards, the storm over the entire sea quickly subsided, and even the clouds that had originally covered the entire sky became lighter.
The Eldritch monster, which was just chasing the survivors, suddenly stopped moving. The Survivor, who was supposed to eat half of it, was also spat out by them, including people and bones.
They seemed to hear some kind of command, suddenly stood up, turned around and walked towards Black Curtain in the distance.
Survivors felt both palpitations and immense relief upon seeing this scene.
"Finally saved. The storm has stopped."
"Those monsters have also left. We don’t need to be eaten anymore."
"Damn it, the group of Tauren who gang raped me just now ran away as soon as they picked up their pants."
Just as the survivors were celebrating another day of their lives, the familiar beep sounded once again.
[Congratulations to all survivors, you have survived a very difficult day and passed the test. Now let’s start counting your achievements.]
[This Trial, all Survivors have killed a total of three Black Curtain creatures. Among them, two Commander-class and one Lord-class. Rewards are now being calculated...]
[Congratulations to all Survivors who made it through. You will receive a three-day break. During this time, you can enjoy the sun, sea breeze, and beaches. At night, you will not be attacked by Eldritch Entities.]
[Congratulations to the Survivors who helped kill the Black Curtain creatures. You will receive an additional seven days of rest, plus three random survival supply draws per day.]
[Important Reminder: Due to the astonishing performance of some Survivors, the leaderboard will now enter a closed settlement phase. Any Eldritch Entities killed during the break period will not be counted toward your stats. The final rankings and rewards will be announced soon. During the break, daily leaderboard rewards will be suspended.]
When the Survivors saw these messages, they instinctively rubbed their eyes.
"Am I seeing this right? This terrifying sea is actually giving us three days off?"
"Someone must have killed three Eldritch giants. That’s the only reason we’re getting this kind of treatment."
"I’m so jealous of those Survivors who helped kill the Eldritch giants. They get a full ten days of rest. That’s awesome."
"You guys should be thinking about how to survive the next three days. The leaderboard rewards are stopped. How are we supposed to get food?"
"The whole sea is full of Eldritch Entities. Just catch a couple and eat them. But I’m really curious—who the hell killed three Eldritch giants? That’s insane."
"Are you all missing the point? That voice just said some Survivors’ stats are ’astonishing.’ What does that even mean?"
"I’m a programmer. Let me translate what that voice really meant: some Survivor killed so many Eldritch Entities in such a short time that the system can’t even count them properly. My guess is the CPU behind that voice just overheated."
Hearing this explanation, Survivors all across the terrifying sea muttered, "Holy shit."
On a barren island, two Eldritch giants stood guard by the shore like security guards.
A group of religious figures in blood-red robes stood on a six-pointed star formation, quietly chanting spells.
Soon, a powerful presence descended. Everyone heard a voice in their ears.
"The Survivors in this round are growing fast. One of the evil god’s followers has already been destroyed by a Survivor. Find that person and turn him into a pioneer for our kind."
As the voice faded, the religious figures all bowed down and said respectfully, "We obey the divine command."
Bodies were carried up one by one. They were the special forces soldiers from Joseph’s ship.
Now they were naked, their bodies covered in six-pointed star symbols and demon runes drawn with special paint and blood.
As soon as their bodies entered the six-pointed star formation, they vanished into thin air at the center of the formation.
Not far away, Bella was clutching her clothes, staring at the formation in fear. Her voice trembling, she said: "Who are these people? Why don’t even those giant monsters attack them?"
Joseph gently patted Bella on the shoulder and said softly, "They are high priests of the organization called [The Eye of Tarot]. They can communicate with Eldritch Entities. Sacrificing some strong lives was a necessary cost to avoid this storm."
Just then, Justin walked over chewing on a piece of dried meat. "Those useless guys were just wasting food anyway. Sacrificing them to the evil god is the best use they could have."
Justin handed two more pieces of dried meat to Bella and Joseph. "You heard the announcement too. Someone killed three Eldritch giants."
He looked toward the two giants standing guard at the edge of the island and said in a serious tone, "It’s hard to imagine what kind of strong person could kill monsters like that, and three of them at that. If I ever get the chance, I’d love to go head-to-head with a Survivor like that."
"You? You wouldn’t even know how you died." Keston snorted coldly, stepping between Bella and the two brothers.
"You’re asking for it!" Justin shouted, swinging his fist at Keston. "You’re just a loser who ran here for shelter. What right do you have to mock me?"
Keston snorted again. "I lost, yes. But I lost to Kevin. Not to you. And let me tell you something—you’re nowhere near Kevin’s level. If there’s one Survivor on this terrifying sea who could kill three Eldritch giants, it’s Kevin."
"Pfft. Keep talking." Justin spat and charged straight at Keston.
Just as a tentacle started to emerge from Keston’s body, Joseph grabbed Justin by the collar. "Justin, calm down. What we need most right now is to stay alive."
Justin shook off his hands angrily and said coldly, "Even if Kevin were a god, there’s no way he could kill those Eldritch giants. Keston, you’re just saying that because Kevin scared you senseless."
Even Bella frowned and questioned Keston at this point. "Keston, aren’t you exaggerating a bit? Even a whole army might not be able to beat a monster like that. How could Kevin possibly win against something like that?"
Keston turned to look at Bella, then stared at Justin with a mocking smile. "If you don’t have the guts to face the truth, you can just bury your head in the sand like an ostrich."
He then turned back to Bella and said, "Your sister Stephanie is on Kevin’s ship. If you don’t believe me, you can ask her yourself."
