Chapter 204: Erase Every Memory of her

Third Person POV

Logan stood near the door with his arms crossed over his chest, his jaw set tight as he watched the witches set up their ritual.

"So how do you do it?" Logan asked, his voice low and tense. "He is the Alpha King. His wolf is too strong. Normal spells can’t touch his mind, let alone erase a person from it."

The head seer stepped up to the side of the bed, holding a dark, carved stone bowl and a long silver dagger.

"An Alpha King’s wolf naturally guards his mind," the seer explained softly. "That is why standard spells fail. To break through a King’s natural armor, we must use three ancient steps."

She held up the silver blade, the metal shining in the dim light.

"First, we need his own blood," she said. "Blood magic is the only force strong enough to open an Alpha’s mind. His blood will act as the key."

She pointed her finger toward two younger witches standing across the room, who were holding a small, glowing black crystal.

"Second, a soul cannot just lose memories—it will fight back and tear itself apart. So we will not destroy his thoughts of the girl. Using his blood as a bridge, we will draw every memory, every touch, and every feeling he has for her out of his head, and lock them deep inside this Anchor Gem."

Logan stared at the dark crystal. "And the third step?"

"The third step is the most dangerous," the seer warned, looking Logan dead in the eye. "While I pull the memories into the gem, the other witches must use dark magic to force his inner wolf into a deep sleep. His wolf will feel us cutting away his love for the girl, and he will fight with everything he has. His heartbeat will drop dangerously low. If his wolf does not yield, his body could give out completely."

Kane swallowed hard, his face pale. "It has to work. We don’t have a choice."

Logan took a deep, heavy breath, his heart pounding in his chest. "Do it then. But if his heart stops, you stop instantly."

The head seer nodded. She took Kaden’s limp right hand, raised the sharp blade, and carefully made a clean cut across the King’s palm.

Thick, red blood pooled in his hand and dripped down into the stone bowl.

DROP. DROP. DROP.

The instant the blood hit the bowl, the witches in the room began to chant in a low, terrifying language. The shadows in the corners of the room seemed to stretch and twist toward the bed.

One of the witches placed the glowing black crystal onto Kaden’s forehead, right over his blood-stained skin.

On the bed, Kaden’s entire body went rigid.

GRRRRRRRR...

A dark, terrifying growl echoed from deep within Kaden’s chest—his inner wolf sensing the attack on its mind. Black veins burst across Kaden’s neck, and his arms and legs violently thrashed against the bed as his body fought to break free.

"Hold him down!" the head seer barked frantically. "Don’t let him move!"

Four large, elite guards instantly rushed to the sides of the bed, throwing their entire body weight onto the King. Two guards grabbed Kaden’s thick arms, pinning his wrists flat against the mattress, while the other two threw themselves over his legs, locking his kicking knees in place. Sweat poured down the guards’ faces as Kaden strain-tested their strength, his muscles bulging as he tried to throw them off.

"Hold his wolf down!" the seer ordered the witches.

Two witches pressed their hands onto Kaden’s chest, pouring dark, heavy magic straight into his heart to force his wolf into a deep sleep.

With four guards pinning his limbs and dark magic crushing his spirit, Kaden’s violent thrashing slowly began to weaken. His breathing turned painfully shallow, and the black veins on his neck started to fade. His heartbeat began to drop slowly—too slowly.

"His heartbeat is dropping!" Logan shouted, taking a step forward in panic. "He’s dying!"

"Keep back, Lord Logan!" the seer ordered loudly. "His wolf is going under!"

The head seer pressed her hands over the crystal on Kaden’s forehead and began the main incantation.

A soft, golden light mixed with dark smoke began to seep out of Kaden’s temples. The light flowed directly up into the black crystal. Inside the gem, faint, floating images began to form—Rebecca’s face, her smile, the sound of her laugh, the memory of Kaden holding her close, and the intense, obsessive love he felt for her.

All of it was being slowly pulled out of Kaden’s head, leaving his mind completely blank of her existence.

Kaden let out one last, quiet sigh. His body went totally still beneath the four guards holding him down, his face turning completely calm and relaxed, as if the torment in his soul had never existed.

The four guards slowly eased their grip, stepping back and gasping for air as they wiped sweat from their foreheads.

The black crystal pulsed once with a dark, heavy light, trapping every single memory of Rebecca safely inside it.

The head seer carefully picked up the glowing gem and held it in her shaking hands.

"It is done," she whispered, breathing heavily. "The memories are locked inside the stone."

Logan stepped up to the bed, looking down at his King. Kaden was breathing normally now. The wild rage, the dangerous aura, and the agonizing pain were completely gone. He looked peaceful, as if he were simply resting.

"When he wakes up," Logan asked, his voice trembling slightly, "what will he remember?"

"He will remember his rank, his pack, his brother, and his grief for his late mate," the seer answered softly, placing the dark gem inside a heavy metal box. "But he will not know who Rebecca is. If he sees her face, she will be nothing more to him than a complete stranger."

Logan stared at the metal box containing Kaden’s love for Rebecca, feeling a deep, heavy ache in his chest. He felt like he had just betrayed his king and friend.
