Chapter 188: The party had just begun
"I-" Ming Tao stated. His voice carried frustration and desperation both at once. It was now he realised that he hated being in public. He just wanted to be alone with his wife yet he could not have that.
But what exactly did you think? This feast was hosted for a purpose and romance was not it! Ming Tao’s mind taunted him. He groaned as he pulled his face back away from Mira’s. He had not even kissed her yet. They could not even share one kiss without interruptions.
"I understand. Duty calls." Mira said to Ming Tao. She swallowed and bit her lower lip. She desperately wanted her alone time with him but she was aware of the situation. After Hye Yang is gone, they can have as much alone time as they needed. "Go." Mira added.
Ming Tao broke the embrace they shared and he immediately missed having her skin pressed against his. He wanted to tell that cheetah beast man standing before them to get the hell away from his sight but he knew that he should not do that. It was then the words Mira said to him clicked in.
"Go?" Ming Tao worded, restating her words.
Mira looked at him and nodded. "Yes, he is here for you. Go."
A shroud laugh almost left Ming Tao’s lips. "Us, darling. He is here for us." Ming Tao said to Mira. Even if the beast man was not there for her, there was no way in beast world that he was leaving her here all by herself. Not when she had gotten to his head and to his dick. He would rather let the heat torture and eat him up knowing she was right within his sight than go on his own not knowing where she was or who she was involved with. Never had Ming Tao felt this protective over anyone and he was not even hating this side of him at all, after all, Mira was pregnant with his child. That would be news that would be announced to the entire cheetah clan once Hye Yang has been dealt with.
"Us?" Mira blurted out loud in shock. She had not been involved in the plan, all along, all she did was pass on information and she had no idea that she would be needed there. Mira held her hand to her chest and pointed at herself. "Like me?" She asked again to be certain. "Me, Mira Yang?" Mira questioned.
Ming Tao grabbed onto her wrist. "Yes, you. You and me." He stated. He returned his gaze to the beast man standing before him. "Lead us to the place." Ming Tao said to him. "And when I give you the signal, go and bring our special guests to us. It is for them this feast was held." Ming Tao added.
The beast man bowed, he kept his head lowered before responding. "Yes, Mighty Cheetah." He uttered under his breath. "The others are waiting for both your arrival."
The beast man stood up straight then began to move ahead, leading Ming Tao and Mira in the direction of the place they were headed. Mira followed by Ming Tao’s side, confusion written on her face. She had not prepared for anything at all so she hoped that he had every single thing covered otherwise, she feared that this would end up being chaotic. All Mira had to her claims was system’s scanned information and nobody in the beast world would listen to her even if she told them the truth about system. They would think she had gone mad and was just spouting nonsense out of jealousy and desperation.
[ Relax host! Keep on a hold font and believe in your husbands. They worked their butts off to make this day happen so rest assured. ] system chimed.
A wavy smile fixed on Mira’s lips as she stared ahead of her at the screen that popped up before her. So now system could talk and take their sides but when she needed system to talk, system did not.
[ *wink wink* That’s my charm, host! ] System beamed.
Mira only rolled her eyes as her feet managed to catch up with Ming Tao’s pace. She had no idea where they were going but from her swift glance throughout the environment, it looked like they were headed to the heart of the feast.
Wait what? They were going to where everybody could see them? Was this a joke? And if that is where they were going to, why was there a need for a beast man to approach them and lead them there? Mira could not understand it.
Right when they neared the centre, Mira poked her head up. She saw an arrangement of wooden tables and chairs at the centre fit for royalty. There were countless wooden seats present so Mira assumed that these belonged to her and Ming Tao and possibly Alpha Wolf Wei Jie or the Ruling Oracle, she was not sure but she did not ask.
"Go and arrange for all of our special guests to be here, we organised a seating arrangement for them to be comfortable." Ming Tao said to the beast man.
The beast man bowed. "Yes, Mighty Cheetah."
"And remember to let them all make themselves present according to plan. Not one person should come earlier or later than expected. Is that understood?" Ming Tao added, he did not want there to be anything that came in the way of something he prepared and while the order to which they all gathered at the centre did not matter, he said it regardless.
"Crystal clear, mighty cheetah." The beast man said then departed.
Mira tugged her hand backwards to get Ming Tao’s attention before he made his way to the seating area. Ming Tao turned to look at her, she looked so worried and he was only noticing it now. Ming Tao stepped closer to Mira and let both of his hand cup her cheeks. "What is wrong, darling?" He asked in a concerned tone.
Mira let her face rest in his palm before speaking. "I am nervous. I do not know what to do or say when I get there. I did not prepare for any of this." Mira said truthfully. The last thing she wanted was to be the loophole in the plan to bring down her sister for good.
Ming Tao let a warm smile plaster his lips as he stared down to face her in a loving stare. "You won’t." He murmured. "And please, trust me. If you ever feel nervous while you are there, remember that I am with you and that you are not alone. I will always come to your rescue and be your backup whenever you need no matter what."
Hearing this made Mira take a deep breath then exhale slowly. It felt reassuring to have him by her side now more than ever and while her nerves did not fully go away, she felt some sort of relief. "Okay, thank you." Mira said to him. She gulped, preparing herself mentally for whatever was about to happen. "I am ready now." Mira said to him.
Ming Tao smiled and leaned his head forward to place a kiss on her forehead. Mira felt the short contact of his lips on her skin send jolts of electricity all through her body and she felt something in her stomach move as well, like the baby felt the love in Ming Tao’s warmth. "That’s my good wife." Ming Tao whispered into Mira’s skin. He did not care who was watching or what they were whispering, the only person who mattered was the woman standing right before him right now, his wife, Mira.
"Let us not delay this any further, skinny cat." Mira managed to say, her voice had more confidence than before even though it broke slightly. Ming Tao let both of his hands leave her face then fall down her body and he reached for her wrist again.
He pulled Mira past the remaining distance and made his way to the seating area. He walked her to a seat at the end and held out the chair for her. Mira said on it.
Ming Tao leaned lower to meet her ears. "Are you comfortable?" Asked in a whisper. Mira nodded. Ming Tao put his hands on her shoulders then squeezed slightly before walking before her. He raised a hand up and the drumming seized.
This was when the chatter became louder and slowly died down. Ming Tao cleared his throat to gather everyone’s attention and soon enough, almost everyone was staring his way.
Seeing so many eyes of diverse beast people made Mira’s heart race. Seeing people from the Lion clan was one thing, relieving and sweet, seeing people from the cheetah clan was also somewhat pleasing as Mira knew they had warmed up to her but seeing other beast people made her nerves spike. She knew that a lot of diverse species in the crowd did not like her even though they were guests.
"Thank you all for honouring our clan with your arrival to celebrate this feast with us. We welcome you all, our beast brothers and sisters with open arms." Ming Tao announced. A cheer arose in the crowd. Mira just sat there and watched.
She could feel it in her gut that the party had just begun.
