Chapter 213
Widening his eyes after coming to a realization, he hesitantly looked down and his face immediately turned as pale as a ghost once he saw the bloody hole in his lower abdomen. Then glancing at Alex, he noticed the blood stains covering his arms and trembled violently.
"Y-you... Y-you... Do you have any idea of what you’ve just done?! You monster! Do you know what you’ve done to me?! You’ve fucking ruined my entire life!!"
"My status as an Awakened was like my life and now you have fucking ruined it! Do you have any idea how long I have toiled to reach my current level of strength? How many years it took to reach Ascendant Realm? And now you have taken that away from me!"
The blonde man yelled with anger, but Alex only stared at him with cold indifference, completely unmoved by his words. The image only seemed to make the blonde man even more furious, and he scrambled to punch at Alex.
The punch landed but did absolutely nothing. It was like a cotton ball striking against an impenetrable wall of steel.
Alex could have easily dodged the attack since the man’s strength was now normal. If anything it was safe to say that it was very similar to that of a world class boxer. Compared to even an early Realm Awakened who could easily lift a bus, the difference was truly like heaven and earth.
But he deliberately didn’t, because he wanted the man to understand something. That was, he hoped the man could finally see how weak he truly was now. There was no point fighting against it, because this was now his new reality and nothing he did was ever going to change that fact.
But it was like the damned blonde man clearly refused to accept reality as it was.
His face twisted with burning rage as he staggered forward and threw another punch at Alex with everything he had left.
Alex’s eyes twitched behind his mask. He was starting to get annoyed by this man’s behavior so he decided to act.
As the punch came rushing toward his face, Alex did not even bother raising his hand to block it. Instead, he casually lifted his leg and kicked the blonde man in the chest. Sending the man flying backward like a rag doll.
The man straight up crashed through a wooden table before slamming into the wall behind it. After that, the now dazed man coughed up blood violently as he fell to the ground, clutching his chest. It was clear to anyone with functioning eyes that he must have broken at least more than one ribs.
"Ugh..." He tried to push himself up, but his arms trembled beneath him.
Alex stared at him without much expression.
"You’re really starting to bug me. Just stay down and accept your new reality, because it isn’t going anywhere."
The blonde man glared at him with hatred.
"You...!!"
Before he could say anything else, a hoarse voice suddenly came from afar.
"How... dare you... You little prick!!"
Alex glanced over, and saw that the burly man had finally managed to move. Pretty impressive for a guy who just lost his powers and was still suffering from the pain of Celestial Thunder.
But no matter what, the man’s body was still badly injured from the earlier fight, so his movements were painfully slow. He dragged himself across the floor with his arms, leaving a bloody trail behind him as he tried to reach his brother.
"How dare you do that to me and my brother... Do you really think this is over? I’ve got homies who will hunt you down and kill you for this."
His voice was barely audible, but the hatred within it was still unmistakable. Alex continued staring at him for a moment before indifferently turning away.
He couldn’t care less. The sight made the burly man’s expression become even more furious.
"You bastard... Look at me when I am talking to you dammit!! Do you wanna die?!"
At that second, Alex suddenly felt a familiar presence beside him. It was his system in her chibi form, and she had her usual adorable appearance, with a mischievous expression on her face as she floated beside Alex.
[Pretty impressive Alex, it looks like sleeping with Doris truly gave you a broken ability. But I seem to have notice something...]
’What did you notice?’
[Well I noticed that you really seem to enjoy aura farming quite a lot. Like you could have easily dodged the poor man’s attack but no, you just had to Aura farm like some shonen anime protagonist]
Alex’s expression remained perfectly calm. Internally, however, he immediately defended himself.
’I’m not aura farming because I like it, okay?
I was simply trying to make this persona of mine appear more menacing and intimidating.’
The System’s eyes slowly narrowed.
[Righhhhht.... Keep on saying it till you believe it]
’I’m being serious.’
[Righhhht... Don’t even think of lying to me. Remember, I can listen to what you’re thinking of]
Alex decided to ignore her. The little gremlin looked around the ruined estate before turning back toward him.
[So, about this guys. Are you going to spare them or just kill them?]
’I thought you could read my mind.’
[Isn’t it obvious?]
"Then why ask?"
[ Hmmm.. Because watching you explain yourself is more entertaining, and I’m too lazy to read your mind]
Alex stared at her. And The little gremlin literally gave him an innocent smile in return.
He eventually sighed internally.
’No, I can’t spare them.’
His gaze shifted toward the two brothers.
’Even if they were no longer Ascendants, leaving them alive would be incredibly foolish. After all, they still believed I was the one that killed their brother even though it wasn’t me. And just the fact that I forcefully took away their precious primordial cores is another reason to hate me with every fibre of their being. Even without their former strength, they could still find a way to cause trouble.’
’If I let them live, they’ll eventually find someone powerful enough to deal with me. They could hire an Assassin or a Mercenary, or simply offer enough money to convince another Awakened to come after me. Don’t forget that since they are Mercenaries, they must definitely know a lot of other powerful people with crazy abilities.’
Alex’s expression became colder.
’It’s better to eliminate the problem now. Besides, if word spreads out that this mysterious masked man killed two Ascendant Realm Awakened, it’ll make this persona of mine much more intimidating.
[So you really are aura farming]
Alex ignored her and focused back on the now powerless men struggling to get up. He looked down at his palm. Instinctively, he prepared to summon a Deathfrost Bloom.
A small shard of black ice began forming in his palm. However, Alex stopped. Using one of his abilities to kill two powerless men suddenly felt unnecessary. It would be damn right wasteful when he could just kill them with his bare hands and be done with it.
He walked toward the blonde man instead. The man looked up at him and seemed to sense something was off. He tried pushing himself backward while yelling.
"Stay away from me!"
Alex didn’t answer. He reached down and grabbed the man’s neck with one hand. The blonde man’s eyes widened.
"Wait..."
Before he could say anything more, Alex casually tightened his grip and snapped his neck with a single motion as if snapping a dry twig in half. The blonde man’s body went limp.
Alex released him, allowing him to collapse onto the floor. He then turned toward the burly man, whose eyes had now widened in terror at this point.
"No..."
He desperately tried to crawl backward.
"You..."
The burly man attempted to raise his hand.
But how could the man escape someone like him? Alex just grabbed his neck and stared indifferently as the man’s fingers desperately clawed at his wrist, but his strength was nothing compared to Alex’s. A moment later, Alex ended his life in exactly the same manner as the first one.
The two brothers lay motionless on the floor. Alex crouched briefly and checked them. Neither showed any sign of life. Satisfied, he stood up, then rushed deeper into the estate.
On his way, he made sure anyone who belonged to Marcus’s organization and tried to attack him was dealt with immediately.
One man, even knowing that a firearm was basically useless against an Ascendant Realm Awakened, still raised his gun and began to fire.
Alex just shrugged the bullets off with no damage done to his body except for a few holes on his clothes, appeared in front of him and punch him with so much force that the man turned into a blood mist.
Another after seeing his comrades brutal death, tried to escape through a doorway. But Alex caught him before he could get far, and made him meet the same fate as the one from earlier.
A Vanguard Awakened attempted to launch a sneak attack from behind. But thanks to his extraordinary hearing, Alex turned around and dealt with him before continuing forward.
Within seconds, the estate descended into chaos. The men who had once thought themselves untouchable suddenly found themselves facing an enemy they couldn’t even see properly.
Alex moved through the estate like a god of death, leaving a small river of blood in his path. He absolutely showed no hesitation toward those who attacked him. However, he deliberately chose to avoid the cooks, servants, and other innocent people who clearly had nothing to do with Marcus’s criminal activities.
They had no reason to die. He knew was bad but he was not a beast.
By the time Alex reached the central section of the estate, nearly half of Marcus’s men had already been eliminated. The surviving members were either hiding or desperately trying to flee.
Alex paid them little attention, after all he still needed some of them alive after the whole ordeal. Besides, his only concern now was finding Celine.
After following the sounds of shouting deeper into the estate, Alex finally reached a large room.
He stopped at the entrance, and the scene inside immediately caught his attention.
