Chapter 164: I’m Just Getting Started
Chapter 164
After making up his mind, Alex slowly opened his mouth to speak.
"Well, since you’re being so sensible, I suppose I might actually try and spare your lives," Alex said casually, as if he were discussing something as minor as the weather rather than deciding the fate of the two most powerful men in the city.
The moment those words left his mouth, Chairman Kade’s eyes lit up with a flash of relief. The very heavy and crushing weight that had settled on his chest the moment Senior Jefferson died, seemed to lift slightly.
He truly believed that his business minded approach had saved them. He thought that, like every other greedy person or ambitious Awakened he had ever dealt with, Alex had a price that could easily be bought.
Maybe the brat might even demand for something within the range of a few hundred millions. Though it will be painful losing such amount, he was willing to give it just to leave here alive with his son by his side.
But before the Chairman could even offer a word of gratitude, Alex raised a finger to stop him, with his lips curling into a slow, teasing smirk.
"But first, we need to settle the bill, wouldn’t you say so, Mr Kade?" Alex continued, his green eyes glinting with amusement.
"To pay for all the physical damage you caused to this magnificent estate, you’ll need to send exactly one billion dollars directly to Nyx’s bank account. I mean look at this yard. Just the landscaping alone is going to cost a fortune to fix."
Chairman Kade’s jaw tightened slightly, but he kept his composure and nodded. One billion was a painful hit, but it was still within his ability to pay.
"Then, for the mental health of my people," Alex said, tapping his temple lightly. "All the stress from worrying about that twenty four hour ultimatum you gave earlier was truly terrible. For all that emotional trauma, you’ll just need to send another five hundred million dollars."
Renzo’s mouth fell open in disbelief, but he didn’t dare say a word under Alex’s cold and emotionless gaze.
"And of course, we can’t forget about the hospital bills, can we?" Alex added, gesturing vaguely toward Doris, Jade and everyone, who were still recovering from the old fossil’s attack.
"Your person hurt Nyx and the others quite badly. So since hospital bills are so ridiculously expensive these days. something you wouldn’t understand because you’re rich. Let’s just make it another five hundred million to cover any expenses. We want to make damn sure they get the best care possible, after all."
Chairman Kade’s breathing grew a bit heavier, but he forced himself to remain upright and not strangle the greedy brat in front of him.
"Oh, I almost forgot. And last but not the least," Alex said as if remembering a tiny, insignificant detail. "You will also send two hundred million dollars directly to my personal bank account. I’ll just force myself to manage that small amount as a little personal compensation for those lovely Awakeneds you sent to kill me earlier. Think of it as a little... Settlement fee."
Chairman Kade’s fingers dug so hard into his own palms that his knuckles turned white. The sheer absurdity of the audacious demands was insulting to say, but he kept a perfectly calm, and polite smile plastered across his face. He knew that any little sign of hesitation or refusal could mean their immediate death.
"Very well," Chairman Kade said, with his voice steady and controlled. "I will personally arrange for the money to be transferred to the respective accounts immediately."
Renzo, despite his usual hot tempered and arrogant nature was also a calculating bastard, so he stayed completely silent. He perfectly understood why his father was behaving this way instead of acting like other family heads who would still try to threaten others when they themselves were on the brink of death.
But understanding did not mean he wasn’t furious. Oh no he was actually boiling mad, but there was nothing he could do.
After all, they were standing in front of a literal monster who had just turned their greatest asset, and one of the strongest person in Ascendant Realm into Swiss cheese. So even just one wrong word, and their heads would be rolling on the grass.
"I hope..." He said through clenched teeth, "that after we give you all of that, you will let us leave here in peace."
Alex looked at the father and son duo with a genuinely confused expression, blinking his eyes in surprise.
"Leave? Wait, who said I was even done talking about the compensations?" Alex asked, letting out a soft chuckle. "I’m just getting started."
The color completely drained from Chairman Kade’s face, as his polite smile froze in place.
"Now, where was I? Ah, yes, now I remember," Alex smiled brightly, clapping his hands together. "For all the immense damage and chaos you caused to Nyx’s businesses tonight, you will compensate her by transferring exactly half of the Kade family’s entire business shares to her name."
"What?!" Renzo gasped, his eyes turning red with pure anger.
Half of their family shares meant giving up their absolute control over the city’s economy. It was a very massive chunk of their life’s work, handed over to someone that was initially lower than them, on a silver platter.
Renzo’s hand instinctively twitched, moving close to the personal custom handgun hidden inside his pocket. But before he could even touch the grip, his father shot him a fierce, warning glare that instantly froze the young man in his tracks.
The chairman had basically been with the late senior Jefferson for a long time, so he knew that a gun would do absolutely nothing against an Ascendant Realm Awakened. Their durability was off the chart, and their speed was nothing short of insane.
Taking a deep, forced breath to keep his raging emotions under control, Chairman Kade forced another smile.
"Alright... I agree to those terms as well."
"Excellent! I knew you were a man of culture," Alex smiled warmly, looking thoroughly pleased with how things turned out.
Without wasting a single second, Chairman Kade pulled out his phone this time, and made a series of urgent calls to his personal bank and offshore financial managers. He spoke in a low voice, authorizing for the unprecedented transfers of the large sum of money stated by Alex.
Within some couple of minutes, Nyx’s phone vibrated in her pocket. She pulled it out, and her eyes widened slightly as she stared at the official notification showing a direct deposit of exactly two billion dollars. A second later, Alex’s own phone also buzzed with a notification of two hundred million dollars settling into his account.
As the financial transaction were being finalized, a tiny, glowing blue light appeared right next to Alex’s ear. With a pop! The tiny chibi materialized into existence, floating gently in the air as she sat crossed legged on his shoulder.
[Alex, come to think of it, I don’t think I have ever seen anyone who loves money as much as you do. For F sake, you just made them spit out 2.2 billion dollars! Not to talk of all those shares]
Alex didn’t even turn his head, he just replied shamelessly.
’I’m not that greedy okay, I just happen to value money that’s all. You would too, if you were a certified accountant in your previous life.’
The chibi was completely speechless at his shameless words. She rolled her cute eyes dramatically, before letting out a tiny sigh, and then instantly vanished back into the depths of his mind.
After the Kade family had completed all the bank transfers, Chairman Kade took a deep breath and looked at Alex.
"The money has been sent, and I assure you that the formal share transfer agreements will be drafted and ready for your signing by tomorrow morning. May we leave now?"
"Yeah sure. Thanks by the way for your wonderful cooperation," Alex smiled, gesturing toward the exit.
Chairman Kade let out a sigh of relief and turned to walk away, dragging a sullen Renzo along with him. But before they could even take another five steps toward the estate gates, Alex’s voice rang out again.
"Wait."
Both men froze in their tracks, their body turning complete stiff.
Alex strode forward, with his movements so fast and silent that he appeared right beside Renzo in the blink of an eye. Before anyone could even figure out what was happening, Alex reached out and grabbed Renzo’s right arm.
CRACK! A sickening, brutal sound of bones snapping echoed loudly through the quiet courtyard. Renzo stayed silent from the shock for a couple of seconds, before letting out a choked scream of agony as his arm was bent back at an impossible and unnatural angle with effortless ease.
Alex leaned in close to the whimpering young man, with his forest green eyes turning incredibly dark as he whispered coldly into his ear,
"This is for looking at my woman with those sick eyes of yours. Consider yourself lucky that I did only this, and didn’t tear them out of your skull."
After saying that, Alex let go of the broken arm and stepped back, straightening his black shirt with his hands. He then switched back to a friendly smile.
"Now, you are free to leave. Have a safe trip home."
With his face completely pale and covered in sweat, Renzo clutched his broken arm tightly to his chest. He didn’t dare utter a single word of complaint or threat.
Instead, he scrambled backward, desperately running toward their parked limousines with his father, who didn’t even look back as they fled the estate.
Once the sound of their speeding cars faded into the distance, a heavy silence fell over the entire area as everyone looked at Alex with shock once again.
After a minute of the awkward silence, Nyx slowly brushed the dirt off her clothes. She stepped over the now ruined grass, with her beautiful amber eyes fixed entirely on him as she walked right up to him.
