Chapter 163
"Heavenly suppression!" Jefferson roared fiercely.
Instantly, a heavy, ominous fog of dark essence erupted directly from his body, rapidly spreading outward in all directions until it covered a massive radius of one hundred and fifty meters.
The strange, dark and eerie mist swirled through the air for a brief moment before beginning to dissipate into nothingness, like it never happened in the first place.
Yet, there was still this weird feeling in the air. One that made him feel a bit uneasy.
The old monster Jeff pulled his fist back with a quick, smooth movement. He then stepped back a few steps backward, with a cold and confident light shining in his sharp eyes.
A mean smile appeared on his old face. Why wouldn’t it? When he knew that his ability must have done it’s job and worked perfectly. The invisible aftermath of his dark fog now covered every single living thing within the one hundred and fifty meter area, just as it had been when he first used it against the two newly Awakened women with abilities that was detrimental to him if he didn’t activate his ability. Now it’ll once again do it’s job.
Because in all his years of fighting, not one Awakened, except for those powerhouses in a higher realm than him, had ever been able to escape this move. The moment that dark fog disappeared, the power source of any Awakened inside the area would be completely cut off.
They would not be able to use their primordial essence at all, and their body would suddenly feel weak and empty.
Jeff truly believed that whatever Alex’s ability was, it was now completely locked. He thought Alex was weak and could not fight back. So, Jefferson let out all his Aura as an Ascendant Realm to pressure and weaken Alex even more.
He wanted to make sure the boy suffers for his boastful claims, before finally ending the brat’s pitiful excuse of a life.
"Now let’s see just how strong you are without your ability, kid!" Jeff shouted with a cruel smile.
Then with a burst of great speed, the old man rushed forward once again. He bent his right hand into a sharp claw, making his five fingers look like steel hooks as they cut through the air with a loud whistling sound.
He aimed directly at Alex’s stomach region. The exact same spot where an Awakened core was located. If his claw hit, he would rip the core right out of Alex’s body and kill him on the spot.
But just as the deadly claw came closer and closer to his stomach, Alex did not move. He did not even try to step aside. At this point he looked like someone who had been frozen to the spot with fear.
Just as it came even closer, a cold, mocking smile appeared on his handsome face. He had the old fossil exactly where he wanted him.
Before Jeff’s hand could touch him, the air behind Alex shook. Then the temperature in the estate suddenly dropped down, making the air feel as cold as a snow storm.
Suddenly, countless black ice shards shaped like petals appeared out of nowhere. They hovered in the air behind Alex in a huge, swirling group, with their sharp and light absorbing surface looking dark and ominous under the late evening sky.
There were over five hundred, almost close to Six Hundred Shards if it had not been for the one shard he had fired at the Old fossil when he was using his damn Aura on Nyx and the others.
Now, this amount was currently what he could make for now. The countless Deathfrost Blooms formed a thick, floating wall of black ice behind him, ready to do what they had been made for.
Jefferson’s eyes went wide with what looked like raw terror. The same kind a person has when they witnessed something impossible and scary. His hands stopped just a few inches away from Alex’s shirt, as every instinct in his body screamed at him to run away as fast as possible.
"How is this even possible?!" The old man muttered under his breath with disbelief. "His core should be completely locked, causing his primordial essence to be cut off! He should not be able to use an ability, so how can he make such a large attack?!"
In a panic, the old man completely abandoned everything and desperately tried to push off the ground and get as far away as possible from this strange brat! His shoes slid in the dirt as he tried to escape.
Alex looked at him with pity in his eyes, before activating his Eyes Of Chronos ability, making his eyes to turn a light shade of purple with defined clock work design within them. He forcibly used the newer ability and made time to turn twenty times slower than normal.
To him, the old fossil’s movements now looked by far slower than before. This state was wonderful as f*ck! Alex could easily see every single detail of the great horror on the old fossil’s unsightly face.
He could see the bead of sweat that fell and looked as if they froze in the air, when in reality they were only moving far more slower than normal. And he could even see how slowly the old fossil was trying to pull his arms and legs back.
With a simple wave of his hand, Alex sent the countless hovering Deathfrost Bloom flying forward like a swarm of fast bullets.
Because time was moving so slowly and the black ice shards were not affected by the strange ability, Jeff could only watch in terror as they came toward him.
He could not even move fast enough to escape. Even though he had centuries of fighting experience and fast reflexes as an Ascendant Realm Awakened, he could only dodge a few dozen of the sharp petals.
The remaining hundreds of black ice shard slammed directly into his body.
Puchi! Puchi! Puchi! The sounds of something sharp cutting through skin and meat, that even bullets could no longer penetrate, filled the entire estate. They turned his entire body into a sieve.
When time finally went back to normal as Alex deactivated his ability, a huge spray of blood burst into the air. Before it even hit the ground, Jefferson stumbled backward.
His legs shook violently as the freezing, life draining power of the ominous black ice quickly took over his body. He could feel his life force disappearing fast, and even his body began to visibly age, making him now look at least in his late eighties, in the shocked eyes of everyone around.
Jefferson stared at Alex with bloody, unbelieving eyes and whispered in a weak, raspy voice.
"What.... what are you...?"
Alex did not say a single word. He just stood there and watched with cold eyes as the strong Ascendant Realm monster of the Kade family, who had made them the overlords of this city, fell face first onto the ground, completely dead.
On the outside, Alex looked as calm as a stone. But on the inside, he was completely ecstatic. He wanted to jump with joy because his smart guess had worked perfectly!
When Doris had screamed earlier about how the Old fossil’s ability had stopped any Awakened from using their primordial essence. That was why both she and Jade had felt completely cut off from their power. And how without it, that was why they were more weaker than usual.
But Alex has quickly realized something very important. He was not an Awakened, and didnt have a core like them, so therefore he could not use primordial essence. The power he instead used came from the Heavenly Desire System, it was good old Desire Energy.
So, Alex had taken a huge risk. He had stood still on purpose and let the old fossil use his Heavenly suppression ability. He wanted to see if the ability could also affect him.
And the result were amazing! The old fossil’s best move had absolutely no effect whatsoever on him. After all, primordial essence and Desire Energy were two completely different things. And Alex had no core like Awakeneds.
This meant the old man’s trick was totally useless against him. Jeff had willingly walked straight into his own death without even know it.
Suddenly a loud shuffling sound broke through the silence. Alex’s sharp eyes picked the sound of hurried footsteps. He slowly turned his head toward the edge of the courtyard.
Over there, Renzo and Chairman Kade were backing away slowly in horror. Their previously arrogant face was now completely white, and they looked like they had just seen a ghost. No. Not a ghost, but a demon.
The sight of the previously strongest man in the city, a valuable asset of their family, and one who had lived for over two hundred years, getting killed so easily in just a few seconds had completely broken their minds.
Renzo was shaking so hard he could barely walk. All his pride and condenseding gaze toward Alex were completely gone.
He was desperately trying to run toward their cars parked outside, forgetting the fact that Ascendant Realm Awakened were all faster than the speed of sound, making escaping nothing but a pipe dream.
Chairman Kade himself, was no longer as calm and dignified as he had been a few minutes ago. His gold rimmed glasses were out of place on his face, and he was breathing in quick, terrified gasps as he dragged his son along with him.
"Oh no, you don’t," Alex said in a cold voice that sent chills into their hearts.
Using his Void ability, Alex’s body instantly disappeared. Before the two men could even take another step, Alex appeared in front of them, with his hands casually placed back into his pockets, and his green eyes shining with a dangerous light.
"Where the hell do you think you both are going to?" Alex asked in a low and calm voice, which made the two men shake with fear.
They both gasped and stumbled backward, almost falling over each other as they stared at him. They were looking at him as if he were some kind of monster.
"Didn’t I say it before?" Alex said, stepping forward slowly. "Both of you are dead meat. So why are you running? Just stand still and ready yourselves to meet your maker."
Chairman Kade’s chest moved up and down as he tried to find his courage. He adjusted his crooked glasses with a shaky hand and stepped in front of his terrified son, trying to at least protect him.
"Boy! Don’t push us too far!" He shouted, though his voice was trembling. He took a deep breath and tried to calm down. After all, he had already realized that they could not longer win in a fight anymore. He had to negotiate and buy enough time to save their lives.
"Listen to me. I propose we make a truce. A complete cease fire. If you let us walk out of here alive today, I will personally order all of my people to immediately stop their attacks on Nyx’s companies and businesses. The financial siege will end within the next five minutes."
He took another step forward, holding his hands up to show that he surrendered, though his eyes held a calculating light.
"And not only that, but I will also compensate you generously. Just name your price. Is it land, shares, resources or even a billion dollars? Whatever you want, the Kade family will provide it. There is no need for us to carry this blood feud any further. It is simply bad for business."
Alex stopped walking and tilted his head slightly, with his expression remaining completely unreadable as he stared at the desperate family head in front of him.
He remained silent for a long agonizingly slow time, seemingly weighing the massive offer in his mind. Everyone present held their breath, waiting for his final decision.
