In the large lecture auditorium, sprawling with several people, a handsome young man with raven black, tousled hair and emerald green eyes that looked particularly mesmerizing, sat on his seat listening to the long and boring lecture with his head buried down.
Yes, he was a former nerd and all, but that was way back in his previous life, before he had a cheat system. To be honest, he’d rather be anywhere else than here right now, after all listening to the exact same topic you’ve heard in the past isn’t usually interesting.
After all the crazy things that had happened in his life like being a shareholder of a multi million... well soon to be a billion dollar company. Fighting special humans who could quite literally tear a car in half with ease, using only pure strength, and run faster than the eyes could see... Being in a lecture he had been in, in his past life, seemed totally boring.
Luckily for him it didn’t take too long for the class to finally finish. Thank God! Just as he was putting his notes into his bag, he suddenly heard the sound of rushing footsteps.
Looking up slightly, he spotted a tall handsome guy with honey colored eyes and a face that looked kind of good looking especially paired with that warm smile plastered all over his face, hurrying toward an extremely beautiful girl with ocean blue eyes, dark brown hair that cascaded down her back like waves, and a face so beautiful it could make just about anyone who saw it fall hopelessly in love.
The guys name was... Uh, what was it again? Henry! Henry Michigan. The only son of Jacob Michigan, who was the owner of Steels & Reals industry, one of the major companies in the city.
The guy was your typical rich guy with the whole cliche package, but a tiny twist. He was actually pretty good in his studies. And a pretty obvious flaw. He loved women. But not just any women, only those who were the top beauties in college, were the only ones who could enter his eyes.
There was even this rumor going on that he had slept with most of the top college beauty, and even a sexy hot foreign lecturer from spain. Though none of all that was actually his concern. Instead what he was most bothered about, was the fact that the idiot was trying to make his move with the number one campus goddess. Jade!
The darn Henry finally reached Jade just as she was approaching the exit of the lecture hall. He quickly stepped in front of her, forcing himself to stop before he accidentally collided with her!
The handsome young man immediately brushed his dark brown bangs away from his forehead, revealing his honey colored eyes more clearly as he flashed her what he probably considered his most charming smile.
"Jade."
The beautiful girl stopped walking and turned back to see who called her name. Then her ocean blue eyes calmly settled on him with a questioning gaze.
Henry’s heart immediately skipped a beat. Even though he had seen Jade countless times around college already, just being this close to her was still enough to make him feel slightly nervous.
She was simply too beautiful. The most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Her appearance was already enough to make countless guys secretly dream about dating her, but it was her personality that made her even more fascinating.
Jade was different from the other girls in college. She was someone who didn’t chase affection, surround herself with a group of admirers, or lust after money. She simply attended her classes, studied harder than almost everyone else, and always left early.
That cool indifference was exactly what made her so irresistible.
Henry had dated plenty of beautiful women before. He had even slept with some of the most attractive girls in school, but Jade had always been different..why you may ask.
She was one of the, if not the only woman he hadn’t been able to get to yet. And Henry Michigan hated losing.
"What do you want?" Jade finally asked. Though her voice was calm and completely devoid of any emotion.
"I was just wondering if you are going to be free later in the evening."
Jade stared at him without saying anything, after hearing what he had just said. Internally she felt tired of all these meaningless words from almost every guy.
Henry took her silence as permission to continue.
"I know a really good restaurant downtown. It’s one of those places where you need to make a reservation days in advance, but my father happens to know the owner."
Several other students who were still packing their belongings immediately began paying closer attention to what was happening.
"Ohhh!" Someone suddenly shouted from the back of the room. "Go for it, Henry!"
A few students laughed and joined in.
"Come on, Jade! Just give him a chance!"
"Henry is the one asking you out! You too would look amazing together."
"Say yes!"
The atmosphere suddenly became lovely. Henry’s confidence was increased even more as he heard his friends and classmates cheering him on. So straightening his posture, he looked at Jade with a smile that he believed could melt the heart of any woman.
Almost everyone was cheering him on. However, there was one notable exception. Not too far away, a blonde haired girl with pink highlights and stunning features sat a few seats away, with her pretty face carrying annoyance and hatred as she looked at the scene going on.
Two pretty girls who were clearly her besties or minions stood behind her, with their arms folded as they too also watched the entire scene unfold.
The blonde girl looked like someone who had just found her husband cheating with another woman. And in truth, maybe she had. After all, Henry was her boyfriend, yet here he was openly trying to ask another girl out!
And she wasn’t the only one dissatisfied with this scene. Several of the boys in the room were all secretly praying for Jade to reject Henry just as she always did to every single guy before him.
After all, every one of them had, at one point or the other, developed a crush on the number one college goddess. Some were brave enough to admit it. Most weren’t.
But regardless of whether they had ever approached her or not, none of them wanted to watch Henry successfully bagging the woman of their dreams.
The thought alone was just about enough to make several of them feel bitter. Unfortunately, Henry remained completely oblivious to their hidden resentment.
He continued smiling.
"So?" He asked. "What do you say?"
Jade still did not say anything, making Alex wait. It was only after a minute passed, then another, before the smile on his face slowly began to stiffen.
*Jade?"
There was still nothing. But this time the beautiful girl simply cast him an indifferent gaze before walking past him, like he was an insignificant insect not worth her time.
The entire class that had been all egging him on suddenly turned quiet. Henry’s expression finally froze and for just a brief moment, the confident smile on his face that had gotten him plenty of girls, completely disappeared.
She... Just ignored him? In front of everyone?
His pride took a serious hit. Since when had he ever been treated like this? But Henry wasn’t someone who gave up easily. Especially not when it came to a woman he wanted.
He quickly recovered his smile and turned around.
"Wait, Jade."
Jade continued walking, ignoring him. But Henry was like an annoying fly that wouldn’t just leave her be.
"I don’t think you heard what I said... I asked if you’d like to have dinner with me tonight."
Still nothing.
Henry’s smile became increasingly awkward. What the hell? Most girls would have already accepted his invitation without hesitation. Even the most beautiful women he had approached in the past had usually been flattered by his attention.
Yet Jade was treating him as if he were nothing more than an annoying fly buzzing around her ear. Henry’s ego was beginning to suffer.
"Jade, I promise you’ll have a really great time."
Still nothing.
"I know you usually don’t go out much, but..."
"Henry." Jade finally stopped, making Henry’s eyes to brighten almost immediately. Finally! He had gotten her attention.
"Yes?"
"I said no."
The smile on Henry’s face froze once again, and the students behind them began exchanging glances with one and another. A lot of the guys were trying really hard to suppress their smiles. One of them almost laughed out loud.
After saying that, Jade turned around and continued walking. While Henry stood there for a moment, completely stunned, before he regained himself and quickly followed once again.
"Wait, you don’t have to reject me so quickly."
Jade’s eyebrows twitched slightly. Henry hurried to her side and continued.
"Think about it. It’s just dinner and nothing more. There’s nothing wrong with having dinner with a friend, right?"
Jade stopped once again and then slowly turned her head toward him.
"Since when were we friends?"
Henry’s mouth opened, but nothing came out of it. This time several guys looked away, trying really hard not to laugh, lest they face Henry, who would make their lives a living he’ll.
Henry’s face twitched
"Well..." He quickly tried to recover. "I mean, we are classmates. That’s basically the first step toward becoming friends, right?"
"No." Jade said coldly before walking away again. Henry stared at her retreating back, and tightened his jaw in frustration. This woman was seriously difficult. But instead of just giving up like a sensible person, he gritted his teeth and hurried after her.
"Jade, wait. Just give me one chance. I promise I’m not like the other guys."
That finally made one of the boys in the classroom snort.
Alex, who had been quietly watching everything from a short distance away, almost rolled his eyes.
Yeah, right. Henry Michigan was exactly like the other guys. The only difference was that he had more money and better connections.
Alex had initially planned to simply watch the show. After all, Jade was perfectly capable of dealing with Henry herself. She was like the number one smartest student in their college... Scratch that, soon to be second, since all experience from past life would help him easily pass. Then she was an exceptionally talented combatant, and an Ascendant Realm Awakened.
So if Henry continued to annoy her, she could just use her ability to knock him unconscious, before he even realized what had happened.
But then the damn Henry suddenly moved closer.
"Jade, I’m really just trying to..."
His salty pig hands began reaching toward her shoulder, making Alex’s expression change.
