Chapter 171: Stay Away From Jade
Chapter 171
His salty pig hands began reaching toward her shoulder, making Alex’s expression change.
Nope! Absolutely not! There was no way he was going to just stay there and watch a guy with ill intent use his dirty hands to touch a woman in his harem slot, who was technically his woman.
Besides, he knew Jade well enough by now. She absolutely loathed any unnecessary physical contacts from people except those really close to her.
So if Henry or whatever his name was, actually tried touching her without permission, there was a very high chance that his weak hand would become the shape of a pretzel before the next second passed.
Alex immediately stepped forward, having already come up with a quick plan on how not to make him look like a jealous boyfriend, since that would definitely make Jade mad, and if she got mad, the chances of him hearing about Doris and most especially Nyx, who he hadn’t seen in a while now, would get even more tougher than it is now.
"Hey, Jade! Wait up!"
Both Jade and Henry stopped. Alex walked toward them with a relaxed face. Then the moment Jade’s ocean blue eyes turned toward him, Alex smiled and lifted a book in his hand.
"You forgot this in my car." Then he looked at it before lightly slapping his forehead. "Sorry, this is mine, that means yours must still be in my car."
Jade’s expression stiffened slightly, and just as she was about to say something, Alex continued.
"How about we go get it?"
There was a brief silence throughout the entire room as everyone watched the hottest guy in the entire school, casually talk to the most beautiful girl in college like they were friends.
Jade stared at him, while he continued to stare back with a small smile on his lips. For some reason, the beautiful girl seemed to understand exactly what he was doing. After a few seconds, she simply nodded her head, agreeing to follow him.
"Okay."
Henry, who had been standing by the side, suddenly changed his face and exclaimed.
"Wait, what?"
Jade, not even caring about him, immediately began walking toward Alex. Henry looked between the two of them in confusion. He had heard news of a really handsome guy in the same class as him, and he really didn’t care about the guy, but now watching a woman who had been ignoring him for so long, willingly accepting to follow that handsome guy, really set him off.
"Hold on Jade. I was still talking to you."
She didn’t even listen to him, treating him as if he were air, Jade continued to walk away with Alex. Henry tried hurrying after her, telling her that could he just at least have her number or something.
That statement finally ticked Alex off. Couldn’t the idiot see that he never had any real chance at bagging a girl like Jade. He slowly turned his head. Then his forest green eyes settled on Henry, with a cold, empty gaze.
A gaze that seemed to carry that same quiet indifference one would give when looking at something that had already died.
At that instant, Henry’s voice got caught in his throat, and whatever he was about to say went back down. He didn’t know why, but the moment Alex stared at him, a strange chill crawled down his spine, like he was being stared by a prehistoric monster.
Alex didn’t bother saying anything, because he didn’t really need to. His eyes had already done all the talking. Henry’s mouth opened slightly, then slowly closed. The confidence he has displayed earlier disappeared without a trace.
Seeing that the idiot seemed to have finally backed off, Alex turned away from him and continued walking forward, with Jade by his side. The moment the two of them disappeared through the exit, the atmosphere inside the room immediately exploded.
"What the hell just happened?"
"Did Henry just get rejected? And not even just once, but twice?"
"Wait, I’m lost guys. Who was that handsome guy just now? I don’t think I can recall ever seeing him here?"
"Oh you’re new, that’s Alex Walker! The guy’s practically all the girl’s crush. And also one of the smartest people in school."
"Wait, Alex Walker? As in the guy who is the second best student in the entire class?"
"Yep, that’s him all right."
Henry stood frozen in the middle of the classroom, with his face becoming increasingly ugly by the second.
First, he had just been publicly rejected by the school goddess. And then some random guy, with a face that didn’t even look that good, had just interrupted him and taken her away. The worst part was that he hadn’t even been able to say anything back.
Henry clenched his fists tightly. Since when had he ever suffered this kind of humiliation before.
Meanwhile, outside the lecture hall, Alex and Jade walked silently down the empty corridor. For several seconds, neither of them spoke. That is, until jade suddenly stopped, and decided to speak first.
"Thanks."
Alex turned toward her.
"For what?"
Jade looked at him calmly and replied. "For earlier." She then paused slightly before continuing. "But I didn’t really need your help in dealing with the immature boy back there."
"Yeah, I know."
Jade’s eyes narrowed slightly.
"Then why did you interfere?"
Alex shrugged and responded.
"I don’t know. I just felt like it."
Jade stared at him, but Alex smiled back innocently.
"What? Can’t I save my beautiful classmate from an annoying guy, with a brain the size of a peanut?"
Jade gave him a calm look that kind of reminded him about that woman, Nyx, before she finally turned away. As he watched her quietly, he suddenly remembered something very important.
"By the way, I wanted to ask you something."
"What is it?"
"So how’s Nyx and Doris doing over there? You know I haven’t seen them in a month now, and to be honest I really miss them."
Jade froze. Though it was only for the most briefest of seconds known to man, Alex had still noticed the way her entire body had stiffened. Her ocean blue eyes remained fixed ahead, and for the first time since they had left the hall, she didn’t immediately respond.
Alex decided to wait. It had been a whole month since he last saw Nyx and Doris. The only way he could hear about them was through Jade, so he didn’t care how long it took, as long as he finally gets how Nyx and Doris are doing then it was worth it.
One second passed. Then two. It was only after a full minute had gone by that Jade finally turned her head slightly, her expression completely unreadable.
And instead of answering his question, she simply turned around and began walking away. Alex stood there, watching her retreating figure disappear farther down the corridor.
He had really thought that today would finally be the day he could hear something about Nyx and Doris after spending an entire month without seeing either of them.
He had asked Jade repeatedly whenever he got the chance, but somehow, she always managed to avoid giving him a proper answer.
And now, when he finally managed to get her alone, she had simply walked away. A bitter smile slowly appeared on Alex’s face.
Damn. He really missed them. He missed Nyx’s cold and mature attitude, and the way she would always seem tough, but once you got to know her, she was not too bad. And as for Doris, he missed when they binged watched an anime, and even the training session he used to have with her and Jade.
After everything that had happened over the past month, he had been looking forward to seeing them again. But judging from Jade’s reaction just now... He honestly didn’t know what to think.
Sigh. Guess he had no other chance but to try and ask her tomorrow. Just as Alex was about to head on toward his car, a familiar figure hurriedly blocked his front with two guys behind him, acting as his personal lackeys.
Of course, who else could it be other than Henry. He walked closer toward Alex and threatened in a menacing voice.
"Look, I don’t care who you are or where you’re from. All I want to say is that you should stay away from Jade from now on, let what just happened today be a one time thing, okay?"
"Sorry, and you’re who exactly? Look, buddy, I don’t exactly have all the time in the world to entertain some second rate rich kid’s delusions. So how about you just walk out of here while you still have the chance.."
Henry gave a low, mocking smile.
"Oh really? That sounds rich coming from someone like you. A nerd who just so happened to go do some mediocre plastic surgery to actually make himself look a bit handsome, thinks he can actually do something to me?"
Alex swore, he really just wanted to avoid this idiot and go back home quietly, but the words coming out of his unfiltered mouth made his hand itch to punch that stupid face of his.
