Chapter 707 - 705: Snow-Crowned King Beast
The young man’s eyes blazed with fury. He flicked his sleeve, drawing a snow-bright longsword. With a sweep across the void, a tide of biting icy sword energy surged forth, its chill made all the more terrifying by the pervasive cold here.
"Arrogant wretch, kneel before me!"
The youth drove his sword down toward Xu Yang’s head.
Xu Yang’s expression did not change; his figure vanished from sight in a flash.
"Such speed... Where did he go?"
The youth’s expression shifted drastically. All he felt was a blur before his eyes, and then an unspeakable, violent force surged ruthlessly from beneath his sword.
A dense eruption of inky blade light burst forth— unstoppable, it swept away the sword tide with overwhelming might.
Bang!
The young man grunted heavily, stumbling back in defeat.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at Xu Yang, swallowing subconsciously.
"You—you’re not even human, are you?"
Late Stage of True Immortal combat strength!
No, even stronger than most at Late Stage of True Immortal.
Does this entire Immortal Domain possess such a first-rate immortal blade?
Who said this bastard was only at Middle Stage of True Immortal?
At this moment, the youth wanted nothing more than to curse aloud.
"Stay away! I’m warning you, you can’t kill me!"
Seeing Xu Yang approach, the youth’s face turned deathly pale and he screamed in terror.
Xu Yang couldn’t help but laugh, then replied mildly, "Hand over all the heavenly materials and treasures you’ve obtained."
"Of course, I wouldn’t dare to kill you. After all, this is the Ice and Snow Immortal Palace’s territory. I suspect there are Golden Immortal means watching overhead."
"But here, it’s all about individual skill. I may not kill you, but humiliating or tormenting you— that, I dare."
The curses the young man almost spewed were instantly choked back down his throat.
"Just you wait."
Grinding his teeth, he threw down a Storage Ring and turned to flee.
Xu Yang ignored him, swept the Storage Ring with his divine sense, but found little inside— just a few Immortal Elixirs, a pile of Immortal Jades and Cold Crystals. Still, better than nothing.
Tucking away the ring, he turned and sliced apart an ice sculpture with one blade, storing the massive gemstone within his pouch.
Just as he was preparing to leave, a sharp scream of terror suddenly erupted outside.
"Help!"
"Save me, Xu Yang! Hurry up and save me!"
"If you don’t help, our Immortal Palace experts will never let you off!"
Zhang Jue screamed at the top of his lungs, every hair on his body standing on end and shattering as he ran, a chill penetrating his very bones. He was terrified to the brink of madness.
To beg Xu Yang for help— what a shameful humiliation!
But he truly had no other way; he didn’t want to die here.
Xu Yang was the only person he knew nearby.
Xu Yang turned his gaze, pupils narrowing suddenly.
He saw three Snow Fiends chasing Zhang Jue. Unlike those he had previously encountered, each of these three Snow Fiends wielded a nine-foot-long ice rod.
Those ice rods emitted waves of chilling air— just a glance sent a shudder through the soul, and a glittering arc of light shimmered within each.
Bang!
Zhang Jue, without even looking back, tossed a pile of items behind him, which erupted in a blast— but only managed to stall the Snow Fiends for two breaths at best.
He rolled in disgrace, tumbling into a mountain gorge.
"Xu Yang, save me!"
Zhang Jue looked up and bellowed.
"Shut up!"
Xu Yang’s cold bark echoed as he, face grim, took a step forward.
"Heaven Locking!"
At a single thought, hundreds of illusory chains manifested from the void, flashing into existence and disappearing in an instant.
Bang!
The three Snow Fiends’ movements froze instantly.
"These are at the Peak of True Immortal, at least."
The shock force was immense. Xu Yang’s face grew even more serious, yet he attacked without hesitation.
The ink-black saber in his hand transformed into the Fourfold Daluo Saber, igniting a raging inferno.
Blazing Sun Heart-Burning Saber!
With one swing, a flood roared forth, shattering the chill across a hundred zhang radius. In the instant the three Snow Fiends broke from their restraints, his saber descended upon them with overwhelming force.
Rumble!!
The three Snow Fiends shrieked shrilly, driven back by the forceful blade. Each wielded their ice rod, unleashing searing rainbow light to block and parry the saber’s sweep.
For a moment— they actually withstood the blow.
"Hmph!"
A cold snort sounded suddenly beside one of the Snow Fiends.
The Snow Fiend shrieked, whirled like lightning, and swept its ice rod across.
Bang!
Xu Yang raised his Fourfold Daluo Saber to block the strike, spun with ghostly speed, and slid the blade along the ice rod, opening a gap and thrusting straight into the Snow Fiend’s body.
The Snow Fiend exploded on the spot, its ice rod crashing to the ground.
Xu Yang had no time to inspect the mysterious ice rod. He unleashed Celestial Wild Wind, waves billowing to conjure a storm a hundred zhang wide, engulfing the remaining two Snow Fiends.
Half the Immortal Yuan within him was instantly depleted.
Bang! Bang!
But the other two Snow Fiends were torn to shreds.
Xu Yang panted heavily, hastily stowing away the Fourfold Daluo Saber, his face going pale.
His gaze swept over the three ice rods on the ground, and his pupils tightened.
The might of the Fourfold Daluo Saber had shattered the icy casing around the three rods, revealing an inner sheen clear as flawless jade.
"Just what are these things?"
Xu Yang picked one up. It was icy to the touch and stabbed straight through his bones, forcing him to instantly circulate Immortal Yuan for protection.
The core of the ice rod was utterly flawless, suffused with rainbow light, slender and straight, about three feet long— reminiscent of some kind of unique jade token.
"This is actually wholly condensed from ice energy, with incomplete Heaven-and-Earth Immortal Markings."
Xu Yang examined it carefully and was astonished.
He had originally thought it was some kind of ice material, useful for forging powerful immortal weapons.
Turned out he was mistaken.
"But it’s still a treasure."
Xu Yang did not dwell further. Since it’s ice energy, whatever it is, refining it into Purest Essence Qi will suffice.
With a casual motion, he tossed them into the Celestial Refining Divine Tripod, then glanced toward the gorge— but it was already empty.
Zhang Jue had fled, fearing even Xu Yang wouldn’t be a match for those things.
While Xu Yang restrained the three Snow Fiends, Zhang Jue had bolted without a trace.
Xu Yang shook his head slightly, unconcerned.
These three jade-like objects were extraordinary enough as is.
He promptly swallowed a Sixth-Turn True Immortal Elixir and departed swiftly.
...
"Zhang Jue? What sort of beasts did you run into, to end up so bedraggled?"
"Oh? Huang Kai, Wang Yue— it’s you?"
"Say no more— I ran into a few ridiculous Snow Fiends, they almost killed me."
"But..." Zhang Jue glanced over his shoulder, a glint of pride flickering across his pale face. "I came across that bastard Xu Yang— he’s terrifyingly strong. Defeated me with a single move."
"Still, I lured three Snow Fiends his way. Those three were at least Peak of True Immortal, and were even wielding extremely powerful cold-ice immortal treasures. No way that guy gets out of there unscathed!"
Huang Kai and Wang Yue were struck dumb with shock and disbelief.
"Seriously?"
"How is that possible?"
"Why would I lie? That bastard is outrageous,"
Zhang Jue also said with lingering fear.
Huang Kai’s expression shifted, but then he shook his head and said, "Forget his fate. With you here, our chances of slaying that immortal beast are much greater."
"Immortal beast?"
Zhang Jue was puzzled for a moment.
Then, the three arrived beneath a massive rift. From a distance, Huang Kai pointed to a cave ahead and said, "There’s a Snowcrowned King Beast inside."
"What? Seriously, a Snowcrowned King Beast?" Zhang Jue’s eyes widened, stunned out of his wits.
"That’s right."
Huang Kai said, "With the three of us joined together, we’ll kill the Snowcrowned King Beast. I get the snow crown, Wang Yue takes the Immortal Beast Corpse, and as for the cave, I suspect there are treasures within. If their value is close, they’re yours."
"If not, later we’ll help you get enough treasures to match. How about it?"
Zhang Jue nodded without hesitation.
