"He’s so fickle. Sometimes he says he likes sons because raising sons is less of a hassle. Then a moment later, he says he likes daughters because daughters are little treasures. But I think, deep down, he prefers daughters," Jane Sampson said. "If it’s really a daughter, James will definitely want to name the baby himself."

"Makes sense," Old Master Black sighed, still not giving up. "When James comes back, show him this notebook and let him pick. Who knows, maybe he’ll get an idea."

"Grandfather, I’ll back you up. If he doesn’t listen to us, then I just won’t talk to him anymore," Jane grinned mischievously. "How’s that for a plan?"

"You?" Brooke Black tapped Jane Sampson on the head lightly. "James can win you over with just one candy. Depending on you? No hope."

"Auntie, that’s not fair! Just one candy? I’m not that easy to please. James says I’m tough to win over, so he’s especially afraid of me being upset," Jane proudly retorted. "Auntie, you underestimate me."

"Yeah, one candy isn’t enough. Two candies should do it," Brooke Black teased Jane Sampson. "James says you’re tough to win over. That’s because he doesn’t know how to woo people. He’s always got that stern face, telling you what you can and can’t do. If it were Peter Gingery trying to coax you, it would only take a couple of lines."

Over at the practice field, Peter Gingery sneezed several times in a row, feeling like someone was talking about him behind his back.

Didn’t seem like they were praising him.

A sound, two curses—that means someone is badmouthing him behind his back.

The three of them didn’t stay long at the base. Since Jane Sampson is now pregnant and just came back today, they didn’t want to let her cook, so they left without having dinner.

Just as the three of them left, James Black returned home. Seeing Jane Sampson sitting on the sofa with a notebook, chuckling as she read, he went over and bent down to kiss her forehead, then placed his hand gently on her belly.

"Did Grandfather and Auntie come to the base this afternoon to see you?" James Black asked.

When he knew about this, he was busy, so he couldn’t come back that afternoon.

He thought he’d come back to see them, but when he walked in, only Jane was in the dormitory.

"Bright Sampton also came. They left less than ten minutes ago," Jane Sampson said, glancing at James Black, then handed the notebook to him. "Do you want to take a look?"

"What is it?" James Black, learning his lesson, realized he should never refuse a question Jane Sampson asked with a question mark.

Otherwise, what happened today at the airport might happen a second time.

"Names Grandfather and Auntie thought of for the baby," Jane Sampson watched James’s expression, expecting him to frown and shake his head, refusing.

But to her surprise, James took the notebook and looked through it seriously, one name at a time.

Then he even asked, "Which one do Grandfather and Auntie like best? Both the boys’ names and the girls’ names?"

"I didn’t ask them~" Jane Sampson blinked.

"Okay." James Black closed the notebook. "I’ll put it in the study, and once the child is born, we can pick a name from it."

Saying that, James walked towards the study, carefully smoothing the edges of the notebook before placing it alongside the books on his shelf.

Jane Sampson followed behind, watching him put it away. "I thought you’d want to name the child yourself."

"If you don’t mind, Grandfather and Auntie can choose the formal name, and you can name the child yourself," James said softly. "Jane, without them, there wouldn’t be us."
