Chapter 2689 - 2707: It Has to Be You
"The child from the Williams family looks like his dad, Liam Woody, in terms of outline, but his features resemble his mom. He’ll be a handsome guy when he grows up," Elder Black praised, and then laughed, "Luckily, he’s a boy, otherwise he’d cry if he grew up looking like a little black ball."
"How is he a little black ball?" Jane Sampson couldn’t help but laugh and cry. The Williams’ baby was just a bit darker than most newborns, but not to the point of being a little black ball.
"Compared to his mom, isn’t he a little black ball?" Elder Black raised an eyebrow, "Mair Williams is so fair that she makes her son look darker."
After speaking, Elder Black laughed to himself, "Liam Woody is really blessed to have married someone as wonderful as Mair Williams, and Mair’s parents are such open-minded people."
Jane Sampson nodded in agreement.
Mair Williams is a girl from a scholarly family, and even in Capital Province City, her family’s reputation is impressive.
Her grandparents and parents are all knowledgeable scholars, while her parents-in-law are from the countryside. The difference between the Williams and Woody families is significant.
Many people might think that a couple like this would face numerous problems in the future.
But in fact, they haven’t.
Mair’s parents and relatives are always polite and warm to Liam Woody’s relatives from the countryside. Liam Woody’s parents, who spend most of their time in the countryside, don’t visit often and don’t trouble Mair and her family.
If there’s some produce from the countryside, Mair’s parents would also send a bit to her.
Though not valuable things, it’s a token of the parents’ affection from their hometown.
After Jane Sampson and Elder Black chatted in the courtyard for a while, feeling sleepy, she hooked her arm through Elder Black’s and returned inside to prepare for a nap.
Just as they entered the house, Jane’s mobile phone on the table rang. She walked over and glanced at it; it was a call from Amber Edwards, and Jane guessed what Amber wanted to discuss.
Sure enough, when Jane answered the call, Amber’s first words were an apology.
"Little Jane, I’m sorry. Before I talk to you about anything else, I must solemnly apologize," Amber said. "The endorsement for Lancaster’s wood business I mentioned earlier is off. The contract went to a female singer. I only found out about it over half an hour ago. The contract I had waiting for your signature is considered void."
"I knew about this in the morning, it’s okay, losing the endorsement is no big deal," Jane said with a light laugh. "I know your intentions were good, this has nothing to do with you."
"Do you blame me for not handling this properly?" Amber felt deeply guilty, "I was initially so happy to secure an endorsement for you, only to have this outcome. But, don’t worry, little Jane, I’ve already talked to my brother. Our house’s food corporation’s spokesperson for next year has to be you!"
After speaking, Amber sighed again, "Little Jane, all things considered, it’s my fault. If I’d been there to oversee things, this wouldn’t have happened. I never expected my future sister-in-law to be so two-faced. On one hand, she told me to wait for news, saying she’d discuss the matters you mentioned in a meeting, and then she quickly went behind my back to sign an endorsement contract with another artist."
