Chapter 358 - 356:You squash them
Space folded and gave way as our figures materialized right in the center of the city.
"Woah! Who’s that?"
"Outsider!! You dare..."
"Hold it!! Look who that is?"
"Is that?...
"Lord corvak of the wanderer guild?" A commotion was instantly stirred up the minute we appeared on the streets.
A repeat of what had occurred earlier with the alien girl almost happened, but luckily, someone smart had intervened.
"My lord. This way." The old abyss walker gestured for me to walk ahead.
"Hmm." Giving him an appreciative nod, I took the lead as we headed towards the guild building.
Both the abyss walker and shulvan flanking me from a step behind.
"Hmm? Now, what’s going on here?" My curiosity piqued as I spotted a commotion at the entrance to the guild.
The closer we got, the more animated the people seemed to become.
That was even more true for the two large men at the front. They seemed to be the cause of all the drama.
"That’s..." the voice of the old abyss walker drifted over from behind me.
"You know them?" I asked. Not slowing down as we got closer to the building.
"Yes. My lord. I do."
"Hmm." I nodded in reply, before focusing on my walk.
....
....
"You there. Half your steps." A cold and authoritative voice sounded from the front as we finally got to the building’s entrance.
The old abyss walker hurried to my front as he bowed in greeting.
"Corvak greets the guild master."
"Oh. So this is the weak ass guild master. I wonder what’s got his dick tied up?"
I mused. Giving the man a once over. He was nothing impressive.
Merely at the Law integration rank. How far deep he was, I didn’t care. All I knew was that he was irrefutably..
"Weak."
"Corvak. Where have you been. Where did that creature take you? And where is the creature?" The man that was addressed as guild master didn’t bother acknowledging the greeting as he fired one question after the other without pause.
"Guild master Maersk." Corvak straightened his posture.
"Please calm you anger. I can explain everything. And, I even bring you good news."
"Good news? What news could you possibly bring me that is good?" The guild master asked. Unimpressed.
"Well. Guild master. Allow me to announce it here and now that the Raukhar forests have been completely wiped out."
....
....
"Pfft....." no one knew who it was but...
"Bahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...."
"Lord corvak... hahahahahaha..."
"Too good. He felt the tension in the air so he decided to break it... hahaahahaha... such a nice man."
The entire crowd burst into hilarious laughter at the words the man had just spoken.
"Corvak. I have no time for your silly games." The guild master snapped.
"Guild master Maersk. When was the last time ever you’ve known me for messing around?" The old abyss walker’s face was dead solemn as he addressed the guild master.
Meanwhile me and Shulvan just watched the entire thing. Totally detached, like nothing had anything to do with us.
"You.. you cannot be serious."
"Guild master Maersk. You felt the city shake and quake once more as well as I did a few minutes ago. You never wondered what was happening?"
"You... you don’t mean?"
"It’s something easy to confirm, guild master." He didn’t reply. Merely implied with his words for the guild master to check.
"I’ll be right back." The man. Taking the cue. Vanished from the spot.
Silence returned as the entire crowd stood stunned.
They’d heard the entire conversation. But they were unwilling to believe it.
"Hmmm?" I stopped my looking around. I had felt a searing gaze boring holes into me. Looking over, my gaze clashed with those of the ash-grey skinned man that had been standing beside the guild master all this while.
Now. I was already quite familiar with this particular kind of abyss walker. They seemed to like spawning wherever I was, he might’ve looked bigger, but I could feel the same essence underneath.
"Yo.. muscle man. What’s with that look? Want me to gouge out those eyes? You don’t seem to cherish them very much." I remarked offhandedly.
"You!" His eyes flared as he opened his mouth to speak, but..
"Corvak!" The guild master appeared just in time. His face a mix of shock and terror.
"Guild master."
"Who... what... how?" The man seemed incapable of proper speech.
"Maersk. What happened?" The grey skinned brute asked.
"The Raukhar forests.... They’re gone."
"What!?"
"Not just gone. The entire land for as far as the forests stretched and beyond. It’s all dead lands. There’s nothing left."
A profound silence fell upon the the place as everyone stood transfixed.
"Corvak.. who?" The guild master finally managed to ask.
"The lord behind me is the one to have done it. And now, he wishes to clear his abyss warden mission."
At his words. I instantly became the center of attention.
"Him?" The grey skinned man turned towards me.
"Corvak..." the guild master’s face twisted in annoyance.
"My lord.."
"He’s.. a B-rank mortal. What sort of joke is this?" The man growled.
"I assure you my lord. It is no joke."
"Pfftt... ahahahahahahahaaha... Maersk. It seems your people aren’t quite as bright as they ought to be." The grey skinned man laughed.
"Corvak... Haa.. it seems you’ve been deceived by an opportunistic mortal." The guild master sighed.
"But, my lord.."
"Enough of this." The grey skinned man snapped.
"You!" He pointed at me, "why do I smell the blood of royal veyr on you?"
"Hmmm?" I tilted my head. "Are you a dog? What wicked sense of smell is that?"
"You.!!!!"
"Kath’zul.. what are you talking about?" The guild master asked.
"I’m saying I smell the blood of my kin on this human outsider."
"You don’t mean?"
"Yes. I believe he’s affiliated with those that are responsible for my brother’s death."
The guild master’s expression changed as he locked his gaze on me as well.
"Young man. I believe you need to come with us."
"Guild master.."
"Silence, corvak. We merely wish to ask some questions. And if he’s innocent, I’ll assure he leaves safely."
"Heh! Innocent? For someone to even be tainted by the smell of the royal veyr bloodline. There’s only ever one judgement. It doesn’t matter whether he’s innocent or not."
The grey skinned man took bold powerful steps as he approached me.
"Now then.. puny outsider. I believe you have some..."
BANG!!
Before anyone could react, my hand was already past his face.
SPLAT!!
His entire body exploding into a crimson mist.
"Damn. They’re definitely the same race alright. Always talking. Never shutting up."
"You should’ve let me, my lord. Tainting yourself with such a low life is beneath you."
Shulvan remarked.
"Worry not, dear assistant. I’m merely teaching you. Be sure to take notes. That’s how you deal with incessant mosquitoes."
A sharp grin appeared on my face as I looked towards the frozen guild master.
"You squash them."
".... THOROUGHLY."
