Chapter 34 Are You Jealous?

Emilia’s POV

I spun around and headed straight for my room.

I didn’t want to look at his face anymore.

He actually wanted to call Henry. The bastard who sold me off without a second thought.

I was three steps away from the hidden door when his hand clamped around my wrist and yanked me back.

"Who said you could go in?" Sebastian’s voice was a low growl.

I whirled around, glaring at him. "I’m packing my things. Aren’t you kicking me out?"

"What, giving up already? Where’s all that fight from two days ago? The one who argued tooth and nail just to stay in this house?" He leaned closer, his voice dripping with mockery. "Did that guy promise you a new home? Is that why you’re so eager to leave now?"

My jaw clenched. "How many times do I have to tell you? It’s not what you think!"

"I only believe what I see with my own eyes."

I lifted my chin and met his glare head-on. "Are you jealous?"

Sebastian froze for half a second. Then he threw his head back and laughed. Cold, bitter, and sharp enough to cut.

"Jealous?" He pointed toward the bathroom with a sneer. "Take a look at yourself in the mirror."

"It’s okay," I shot back. "I have a mirror in my room."

I didn’t wait for his response. I ducked past him and slipped behind the painting, into the cramped, windowless prison he called my bedroom.

But of course, he followed.

"I need to rest," I said sharply, turning to face him. "It’s late."

"Oh, so you do know what time it is." His voice was acid. "I thought you’d lost track while making a fool out of me in front of half the city. How dare you think you can just stay here after that?"

"When I tried to leave, you accused me of having an affair! Now that I’m not leaving, you’re asking if I have the audacity to stay?! Sebastian, what the hell do you want from me?!"

He tilted his head, his expression cold and mocking. "Oh? Are you angry now? Funny. I thought I was the only one who had a right to be angry."

"Why can’t I be angry?! Any human being would be! It’s just a matter of whether they can hold it in or not!"

"Then hold it in," he said flatly. "I thought you were good at that."

My hands curled into fists. "If it was something else, I could stay quiet. I didn’t say a word when you made me live in this godforsaken place. But you standing here, repeatedly accusing me of things I didn’t do... it’s making me lose my mind!"

His eyes narrowed. "’Godforsaken place’?" He looked around slowly, as if seeing the room for the first time. "Are you complaining about your living conditions?"

"Do you think I should be satisfied?" I shot back. "Were your ex-wives satisfied?"

He glanced around again and nodded casually. "I’m satisfied. The design is unique. The lighting is good. What’s there to complain about?"

"Since you think it’s so nice, let’s switch rooms. I’ll stay in yours, and you can stay here."

Sebastian’s smirk widened. "Come on, just admit you want to sleep with me. But sorry. I don’t want to."

"Who wants to sleep with you?!" My voice cracked with frustration. "You call me stuck-up? You deserve that title way more than I do!"

"If you didn’t want to sleep with me, why are you complaining about your room?" He stepped closer, towering over me. "You know I’m a clean freak. You know I hate women touching my things. And yet you keep provoking me by saying you want to stay in my room." His eyes gleamed. "Aren’t your intentions obvious?"

I stared at him, completely speechless.

This man was impossible.

I rubbed my forehead and let out a long, exhausted breath. "Tell me what I can do before you let me off the hook." My voice came out flat and drained. "I surrender, okay?"

I had nothing left. No energy to fight him anymore.

He studied me for a long moment, his expression unreadable.

"If I kick you out now," he said slowly, "my parents and sister are going to throw themselves off a cliff again." His tone was dry, almost bored. "So for the safety of this family, I’ll let you off... for now."

He leaned in close, his breath hot against my ear.

"But if you elope, or so much as flirt with another man..." His voice dropped into something deadly. "I promise I will hunt you down. You. Your family. Everyone."

I swallowed hard. "Okay. Got it."

I was using every ounce of willpower I had left to suppress the anger boiling inside me. I held it back just to end this nightmare quickly.

I couldn’t take another second of Sebastian Simons torturing me.
