Chapter 199: GET AWAY FROM ME
Even though Rexton was not as cruel as Eudora, his twin, it didn’t mean he was pleasant to be around. There were times when he pulled a prank on Seara at the cost of her sanity.
Before, he and his friends would lock her in the storage room because Eudora dared him to do that since she learned Seara was Daven’s destined mate, knowing it would be a crime to pull such a thing on the future luna of the pack.
Such incidents were not often, but similar events would occasionally happen.
However, right now Rexton was different. He didn’t have the boyish smile and condescending look on his face. He looked reserved and respectful.
If you had never known him before, the way he carried himself might have fooled you. He was calm and dignified, as if he were born into the role of an alpha.
"It has been a while, Seara," Rexton said. He stretched out his hand for a handshake, but Seara only stared at it, which made the situation awkward.
Just because Rexton was a decent person right now didn’t mean Seara would be fine with what happened in the past. Absolutely not.
Even if he saved the world, he would always be a jerk in her eyes. Seara hated him, and she didn’t think the feeling would change anytime soon.
He might not be as cruel as his twin, but he watched in delight when she was being tortured. He had never corrected his sister.
"Have Jeremy and the others arrived?" Seara asked Asher instead, straight up ignoring Rexton, as he pulled his hand away silently.
"I have sent a few people to search for them." Asher could feel the tension between Seara and Rexton, but he said nothing.
Rexton insisted on helping here and left the pack to join the party in defense against the Quantum Protocol, which had moved toward their territory.
Humans around the area had left their houses, knowing there was a massive number of monsters in the city they lived in, which was a good thing.
In other places, the humans fought back against the shifters and even assaulted them. Here, however, the humans were too afraid to even go out of their houses. They were not as aggressive as the people in the big cities, which helped tremendously for Asher to manage his territory.
Without the clash between shifters and humans, Asher’s territory was relatively safe; even so, it wouldn’t last long.
The Quantum Protocol had razed Zade’s territory first and then went to Altair’s; they even managed to capture him. Therefore, Asher was the last stronghold.
"Come, you look awful." Asher ushered Seara to the car.
"She needs to go to the hospital; she dislocated her shoulder," Jared explained. "I have fixed it, but she still needs a thorough checkup."
"I am fine." Seara didn’t want to bother them when Jeremy and the others were still missing.
"It’s not yet healed?" Rexton commented, but then he realized it right away after he finished his words.
"No." Seara snapped at him. She didn’t raise her voice, but after a long and hard night with no decent sleep, she felt a little cranky. "I have been poisoned, which caused me to lose my wolf spirit, remember? I can’t shift, and I can’t heal now."
Rexton shut up immediately after that; he said nothing and watched Seara walk to the car with the king of the Lycans.
Asher said nothing, though he didn’t know the details of what had happened. He knew Seara was not treated well in her old pack, and she happened to be locked away for years because she lost her wolf spirit and was considered bad luck.
"Go with her; I will go with the search party," Jared said to Kayden. He eyed Rexton because he knew this alpha from her old pack, where she was not treated well.

Seara couldn’t sleep, even though she needed it to recuperate. It simply didn’t come until she had to be medicated for it.
As a result, she slept throughout the morning and night. She only woke up the next morning and felt a little bit at a loss because it was still bright out there; therefore, she thought she was only sleeping for a few hours.
However, that was not the thing that shocked her the most, because when she looked around the room, her eyes landed on Silas.
He was sitting on the couch with his eyes closed. He was her adoptive brother, whom she had not seen in many years.
Seara was not happy with this—it was one of the reasons why she felt uneasy about going back to Asher’s territory, because she knew there was a high possibility she would meet with her old family if she could call them as family at all.
However, she didn’t expect it would happen this soon. She had not yet prepared herself for this sudden reunion.
And not only that, a few minutes later someone entered the room, and Seara felt her heart fall to her stomach when she saw her adoptive mother. Tansy.
She looked older than the last time she saw her.
"Oh, Seara! You are awake!" Tansy immediately rushed toward Seara’s bed and hugged her.
Her voice finally woke Silas up; he was immediately on his feet and approached the bed as well to check whether or not his mother was telling the truth.
Their eyes met briefly, and he muttered under his breath something along the lines of, ’I would call the doctor to inform them,’ and then went out of the room, leaving Seara only with Tansy.
"Oh, you don’t know how worried I am," Tansy said, dabbing tears from her eyes.
Seara felt as if she were still dreaming—since when did this woman care about her or waste tears to cry?
"Get away from me," Seara said in a cold tone. She was still too weak to physically push her away; otherwise, she would have done it.
