Chapter 200: TRASH FAMILY

Tansy looked baffled by the way Seara snapped at her. The smile on her lips disappeared as the corner of her mouth twitched.

"That’s not how you talk to your mother," Tansy said; the worry in her voice had disappeared. She looked more like herself right now, which somehow made Seara feel relieved.

She was more comfortable with this side of her, as crazy as it might sound, since Seara had grown up with it. Therefore, seeing the familiarity, no matter how bad it was, felt better.

Especially now, when her own feelings were all over the place.

"You are not my mother, and you have never been one." Seara swatted her hand away from her, and she had to take a sharp breath because the pain in her shoulder reminded her that she had just dislocated it.

"How dare you say that? I have taken care of you, clothed you, and put a roof over your head, but this is how you repaid me?" Tansy’s eyes narrowed into slits. She was pissed; it was one of the antics that Seara remembered about her. "Just because you have become King Zade’s mate, you can treat your old family like trash."

"I didn’t treat you like trash. You are trash."

It felt liberating to be able to say those words without fear. It must be because what she had gone through and the dreadful feelings she felt in the presence of the devils made her fear of Tansy pale in comparison.

In the past, Seara was not timid either, but she had no one to support her. If she was being too difficult and fought back too harshly, she had nowhere to go. She only had Tansy’s house to live in, and for her teenage self, the world out there was scarier than Tansy.

But now, she had been proven wrong. Tansy was nothing compared to the world out there, especially now that she also had Zade.

She had a warrior to protect her and abilities that made her useful despite her lack of a wolf spirit and her inability to shift to her wolf form.

"Get away from this room, Tansy. I don’t want you here." Seara sat down; she met Tansy in the eyes.

She had never been scared of meeting people’s eyes, but Tansy would slap her whenever she raised her head and looked at her directly.

Therefore, what Seara said, with the addition that she called Tansy by her name, was a great shock.

"W-what did you say?" Tansy straightened her back; she widened her eyes and stuttered a bit. "How dare you! After all I have done to raise you, you are being ungrateful!" She raised her voice now.

"Mom!"

Silas had returned with a doctor and found his mother was yelling at Seara. He immediately approached her, took her out of the room, and let the doctor check on his sister.

Seara watched as Tansy was being escorted out; she was trying to fight it, but obviously, Silas was much too strong for her to resist.

In the end, Seara could only hear her voice in the hallway, which gradually faded away.

The doctor and the nurse were shifters, she assumed, and she thought they knew what happened. Therefore, she asked them.

"I know it’s been only a few hours since I fell asleep, but is there any news about Jeremy and the others?"

They looked confused for a while, and she thought she had made a wild assumption by thinking that they were shifters, but then they clarified.

"You fell asleep for a whole day, not only for a few hours," the doctor said, and it was the nurse who told her about the search for Jeremy and the others.

"They have not yet found them, but the Quantum Protocol is getting closer to our city. There is a massive mobilization among the citizens, as the humans barricade themselves and the areas under their control."

Seara was surprised to know she had been sleeping for more than a day; she thought it was only a few hours, but when she heard the situation out there, she became even more nervous.

"What about... Zade? Do you hear any news about him?" Seara looked around, but she couldn’t find Kayden. He should be here because Jared was out to help with the search team.

The nurse injected something into her IV infusion and answered her question. "We don’t know about that. The information about it will go to King Asher directly; therefore, we can’t say for sure whether or not there is information about King Zade."

Seara contemplated this for a while and decided that it made sense. Information about Zade’s movements wouldn’t be shared recklessly.

"Where is Asher?" Seara asked them before they finished with their job and started talking about her current condition.

"The king is in the pack house, but don’t worry, the pack house is only five minutes away from here. You can relax now."

And after some more talk, the two of them left.

Seara thought she would be alone, but apparently Silas had been waiting right outside the door, so when the doctor and the nurse left, he immediately slipped inside the room.

"Seara," Silas called her, and Seara recognized his voice even before she could see his figure. "How are you feeling?"

"I would feel better if you were not here."

That was very clear to Silas that she didn’t want him there, but instead of leaving, Silas entered the room and sat down on the couch, where he had dozed off.

"It has been a while, Seara. How are you?"

Seara was baffled. He ignored her comment earlier completely and now asked how she was? The level of ignorance was jarring.

"I know you hate me for what I did—or didn’t do—but it was in the past. There are a lot of things that are happening right now; let’s put it aside first," he said in his diplomatic tone when Seara kept mum.
