Chapter 204: PEOPLE SHE RECOGNIZED

"Why do they use that light?" Seara asked about the beam of light that shot through the night sky from the pack house. It is like a white pillar in the darkness of the night.

"The Quantum Protocol took down the airport, and there are a few shifters who have managed to escape with a plane, but because they can’t use the airport, Alpha Asher uses that method to guide the planes. This pack is crowded now."

Kayden sat down next to Seara; he wanted to go with Jared and searched for Jeremy and the others, but he knew it was more important to guard Seara. She would be in great danger, since the king was not here.

"Yes. The country has divided into two." Seara clutched the phone to her chest as she prayed for Zade’s safety. He just called her less than ten minutes ago, but she felt that she wanted to call him again because of how much she missed him.

"This is what is scary. The devil forces us to fight against humans, which he knows will be difficult because we can’t kill humans without risking our sanity and going into madness. In the end, it will leave us fighting among ourselves, and it will also escalate the destruction."

Seara agreed with what Kayden said; she saw how big of a problem they were currently in and how bad the situation was right now for the shifters, as they couldn’t defend themselves.

It would be difficult to fight someone without killing them when that person intended to kill you.

"What about Zephyr and the others? Are they okay?" Seara called for Zephyr, but he was being vague with her, since he didn’t want to make her worry. Moreover, she couldn’t help with anything from here.

"They are holding down four cities, but they have lost one. And I think they need to back down. The enemy’s attack is getting more and more aggressive."

Seara grimaced when she heard that. How bad was it for them to hold fallen cities? She couldn’t even imagine the casualties from the shifters’ side.

Zade was still giving the order to his alphas as well as Altair’s, but it was not the same when he was not there in person. Without a figure to take charge and give authority, it was difficult for them.

Seara could imagine the clashes among the alphas about what they should do, as they tried to assert their authority without anyone being able to humble them down.

"The meeting will be at seven in the morning. I will pick you up at six so you can have breakfast in the pack house. Your bedroom has been prepared there."

Seara nodded and thanked Kayden. The warrior had told her not to push herself too hard and that she could take her time and not join the morning meeting.

However, Seara disagreed with that. Altair was captured because he didn’t know one of his people was the devil’s pawn. She didn’t want the same thing to happen to Asher.

The next morning, Seara came to the pack house and had her breakfast in the dining hall. Here, Asher was not like Zade; he opened the pack house to the public, while Zade’s residence was limited to the people that he allowed to enter.

Therefore, Seara could see her adoptive mother, father, and Silas were there. Her steps halted, and she wanted to turn around and leave.

"What happened?" Kayden asked. He looked around, followed Seara’s line of sight, and saw her former family. "Do you want to eat in your bedroom? I can show you your room. I will bring the food for you."

Seara contemplated the option; she was tempted to agree to that, but in the end, she shook her head. She was here, and she couldn’t run away from them forever.

Moreover, they wouldn’t be able to hurt her again. The Lycan wouldn’t allow that to happen; more importantly, she would meet with them in one way or another, since Silas would at least attend this morning meeting.

"No. I will be fine. I will eat here." Seara took a deep breath and dragged her legs to the empty chair, while Kayden was next to her. His presence was a form of comfort for her, though it couldn’t be compared to Zade being there.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

Seara sat down and started to fill her plate with food. Because of how nervous she was, she couldn’t even feel the food. All she did was stuff her face and tried to act casual, as if their presence didn’t bother her.

However, things didn’t get any better. Seara saw an elder who was sitting at the second long table opposite from her. He was Elder Janson; he was also one of the elders who agreed to lock her up in the dungeon, even though the decision was not in his hands, and he was not so vocal.

It seemed important people from all the packs were here, gathering for an in-depth discussion about what they were going to do; moreover, more warriors were needed to hold the territory from the enemy.

Elder Janson ate, but he held his head up when he felt someone was staring at him, and across the room, he saw Seara.

He clearly still remembered her—his surprise proved it. He almost choked on his own food, and Seara hoped it would hurt.

But she decided to focus on her food and go to her bedroom to prepare herself before the morning meeting.

So far, she didn’t feel that dreadful feeling from anyone around her, which was a good thing.

Yet, when she started to forget about those people who had bothered her, Javen chose that time to stand up from his seat and approached Seara.

He stood next to her and asked Kayden to stand up.

"I need some time to talk to my daughter; I will appreciate it if you step away for a while, warrior."
