Chapter 206: I BEG TO DIFFER

Just as expected, the meeting was filled with tension, and everyone who was there gave Seara a side-eye look because they were skeptical about the reason why she was there.

However, they didn’t say anything because of King Asher’s presence, as it would have been highly disrespectful to do so.

Meanwhile, Rexton and Silas acted as if Seara was not there. They were not being hostile, but they were not trying to acknowledge her either when she spoke.

These people must have drawn the same conclusion; they thought it would be a waste of space and time to let Seara be there, since she wouldn’t be able to contribute with anything that could give them an advantage.

Even so, they kept their mouths shut and didn’t offer any comments.

Yet, it didn’t last for long, because on the third day, the alphas under Asher started to make negative remarks about Seara’s presence.

"King Asher, with all due respect, I wonder why we should have her here?" Alpha Gideon asked; he was the alpha from the Dark Forest Pack. "It’s not like she can help with anything."

Alpha Gideon was a very scary-looking alpha with a scar on his left eye. He was the biggest and the tallest alpha among the others; therefore, it was not difficult to spot him, especially given his deep voice. Whenever he suddenly spoke, Seara would startle a bit.

"Leave her out of this meeting; there is no point in having her here. A woman knows nothing about the battle," another alpha chimed in.

And as if they had been waiting for this moment, for someone to speak up first, they started to criticize Seara’s presence.

"I know that you want to be respectful to King Zade, but having her here will not help with anything." Alpha Rune said with an exasperated tone, as if Seara had committed an unforgivable crime by sitting there with them.

In their eyes, as the only woman in the room, it felt like her existence was degrading their presence. They didn’t want to be seen as equal to a woman who had lost her wolf spirit and had stayed in a psychiatric ward for a few months.

"Do you think without my presence, it will help you to find a better solution?" Seara threw the same question to Alpha Rune, who glared at her viciously because she dared to talk back to him. "If you can guarantee that a better solution can be found without my presence, then I will leave."

Seara was not lying when she said that. She didn’t want to be there either in the first place; whenever they gave her a dirty look, she wanted to go back to her room and curl under her blanket.

But she had to make sure Asher was cleared of any influence of the devil around him; that was why she dragged herself out of the room and forced herself to sit down here, accepting their disrespectful way of staring at her.

Seara stood up. "I will wait for good news." She glanced at Kayden, who was standing behind her. The warrior looked as if he was going to lose his cool, but even he was surprised when Seara was going to leave the room of her own accord. "I will see you tomorrow for a better solution."

And with that, she left. On her way out, Seara caught sight of Asher. The king didn’t say anything when she was being reprimanded by his alphas, and he didn’t help her either to straighten them up, telling them how disrespectful it was to treat her like that.

However, when she walked past him, he winked at her with a grin. He seemed to enjoy this.

Seara didn’t know what was on his mind, but for her, these Lycans could be very weird with the way they were thinking.

"Is it okay for you to walk out like that?" Kayden asked with worry as they walked in the corridors.

"I was there to make sure no alphas have been compromised, and if they don’t want me to be there, what makes you think I will be happy to sit through a one-hour meeting with them throwing dirty looks at me?"

Kayden grinned. He also felt suffocated during the morning meetings. He found himself dragging his feet to be present in a room filled with the alphas who were fighting over trivial matters and King Asher, who didn’t even care much to listen to them.

Of the three Lycan kings, Asher was the one who seemed not to care about his territory. He was neglectful. In truth, his beta was the one who had been running the show the entire time.

The good thing was, Asher knew how to surround himself with people who were loyal and extremely capable of handling the kingdom and his laziness.

But of course, such a trait wouldn’t get them anywhere at a time like this.

"Moreover, I have another way to know about the meeting," Seara said with a grin and then looked at Kayden. "Someone can summarize it for me."

The warrior looked confused. "Who?"

"Can you get the information from Blake?" Seara knew how much the gamma would complain about anything and everything. It was probably a trait that the royal gammas shared. Zephyr was the same.

"How? He is not someone within my rank that I can hang out with casually." Kayden widened his eyes. "I am only a warrior, remember? I am not Royal Gamma Zephyr."

Seara waved her hands casually. "Oh, you don’t need to do anything; you only need to ask the right question, and he will spill everything for you."

She was right when she said that because when Kayden approached Blake under the pretense of wanting to help him, Blake started rambling and complaining about everything.

Kayden wondered if he would ever stop talking. And after enduring that for a few hours, he went to tell Seara, who was laughing.

"See? I told you. It is easy."

"I beg to differ."
