Chapter 55: WE ARE GOING TO SAVE SYBILL
They were here to greet the king of the Lycans and also because they were worried that something might happen.
"May I know what the purpose of your visit is?" Rexton asked. He didn’t have the alpha blood in him, but the way his voice was very stern, you could tell that he was trying hard to compose himself in this meeting.
Despite his fear, he was still holding a grudge against the fact that Eudora was in the king’s hands. He couldn’t fight him, of course, but it didn’t mean he would let it go easily. Eudora was still his twin sister, his family, and no one would be alright when their family member was held captive.
"I want to see the secret cell where you held my mate," Zade replied with an even tone. There was no rage or sarcasm, but this made it even scarier, since they didn’t know what was in the king’s mind.
"May I know for what purpose?"
Zade narrowed his eyes dangerously this time. "I am not here to talk about my business with you. I respect King Asher, and I respect you because of your alliance with him, but don’t test my patience. You know I have none."
Rexton had asked too many questions for Zade’s liking. On different occasions, or if Zade were an alpha from a different pack, the answer that came out of Rexton’s mouth would be different.
"Sure, of course, King Zade. My warrior will escort you to the hut." He was slightly uncomfortable talking about the way they had locked Seara inside the secret cell for more than three years.
But it was because they didn’t know that the adopted daughter of the former gamma’s family would actually be the Lycan’s mate.
"There is no need for that; I know my way." Zade turned around and entered the car again.
The only reason why he came peacefully instead of trespassing like before was that he respected Asher. However, it didn’t mean he was asking permission here.
When Zade entered the car, Seara looked at him nervously. "Is it okay? Is he angry? Can we enter?"
"Sure, we can," Zade reassured her and kissed her forehead. "Are you okay?"
Seara looked around her; she didn’t answer the question. This was the place where she grew up, the only place that she knew before she was locked away for years.
It felt nostalgic, but at the same time it was bitter.
Seara still tried to remember pieces of her past. She knew what had happened to her regarding the poison and Daven’s cheating with Eudora; the memory flooded back to her.
But occasionally, she forgot about it. Her mind was clouded; it was like a sky. There was a moment when it was clear, but also there was a day when thunder and gloomy rain muddled everything else.
Seara stared at the Blackthorne Pack as they entered the forest, where she tried to run away, but Rexton, Silas, and the others caught her. They dragged her back, and she lost her wolf spirit.
Her hands clutched tightly against the hem of her dress as anger surged like a whirlpool from within. She remembered the desperation and anger buried deep inside of her.
"Seara, are you alright?" Zade pinched her chin and made her look at him. "Do you want to stop?"
Seara shook her head. "Sybill is waiting for me. She wanted to be free." She became even more anxious. "She is there, and I have to get her out. She is still trapped inside the cell. All of them had locked her up, even though she did nothing wrong."
Ace and Zephyr, who were sitting on the front seats, glanced at each other. They knew Seara was on the verge of crashing down again.
And if the two of them could feel it, let alone Zade. He was well aware of what he was doing, and this could be the wrong decision.
"What did she do? Why did they lock her up?" Zade asked, pushing further.
On the other hand, Ace and Zephyr thought Zade would stop, but they didn’t expect the alpha would ask more questions.
"She didn’t tell me... no, she told me..." Seara moved anxiously as she mumbled to herself instead of having a conversation with Zade.
"What did she tell you?" Zade held her hand to stop her from clawing at her palms.
"She told me..." Seara furrowed her brows, trying to remember what Sybill had told her. What was that again? The answer was on the tip of her tongue, but she couldn’t recall.
"What is it, Seara?"
"Uhm, Zade..." Zephyr tried to intervene because even he was uncomfortable with how Zade wanted to force the answer out of Seara.
[Shut up.]
The mindlink was very strong; Zephyr felt like Zade hammered the warning right to his head, which effectively shut him up.
"Tell me, Seara, what did she do that made them send her there?"
"Because she is useless. The pack member doesn’t want her. The pack member saw her as a burden; that’s why they locked her away."
And right at that time, they arrived at the rickety hut, which was the entrance to the secret cell.
Seara immediately wanted to open the car door, even when it was still moving, but Zade grabbed her in time.
"I need to get her right away; she is calling for me. She had been waiting for so long..." Seara whimpered; she tried to get away from Zade, who was holding her back.
"We will see her. We are going to see her..." Despite what Zade said, he knew for sure they wouldn’t see anyone. He hugged her tightly and squeezed her body lightly. "We are going to save her," he whispered into Seara’s ear.
And when the car had properly stopped, Seara jumped out of there and rushed toward the hut with Zade following her closely. Jane, Ace, and Zephyr followed them, but the three warriors were standing on guard outside.
