Chapter 56: MEETING SYBILL

Sponsored

Seara felt her heart was going to burst with happiness. Finally, finally, she could see Sybill again. Sybill. It had been months of waiting since the last time she had a conversation with her.

She was precious to her, since her presence was the only thing that kept her grounded.

Seara remembered those quiet nights when they stayed awake, talking about many trivial things that they still could remember about the outside world.

They often discussed their plans once they escaped this place.

They understood each other so well.

Sybill was the reason she was here now... If it were not for her company, she would have tried to find a way to end her life a long time ago, and one of her attempts might have succeeded.

However, if she left, she was going to leave Sybill alone, and she didn’t want that.

Therefore, despite her fear and the suffocating feeling that pressed down her chest, Seara decided to go on.

She didn’t remember how narrow the secret tunnel was that led her to the secret cell. She didn’t even know this place existed until the warriors and the elders dragged her inside.

And Daven...

Seara remembered the look on Daven’s face that day. She would never forget how he turned his head away because he couldn’t bear to see her in the eyes.

He felt guilty, and Seara could see that.

"Are you okay?" Zade asked when Seara stopped walking.

Zade was walking right behind her, and his strong presence was comforting, giving her the reassurance that she needed. Otherwise, she might not be able to continue.

"We can go back." Zade squeezed her shoulders lightly, but Seara shook her head.

"No, Sybill is waiting for me." Seara couldn’t imagine how lonely she was all this time when she was not here. She should apologize for not coming sooner.

Steeling her heart, Seara kept going. She walked slowly, but she moved forward until finally they reached the end of the tunnel, where there was a door that led to a line of cells inside.

In total, there were six empty cells, three on the left and three on the right side, while Seara and Sybill’s was the last cell on the left.

The damp smell and the cold air inside made Seara shudder. She wanted to back away, but then she reminded herself of how Sybill would feel all this time when she was alone. It must be terrifying for her.

That was how Seara felt when she was left alone here for the first time. The months that followed were nothing but anguish.

"Sybill?" Seara called her when they came closer to the cell.

She might not feel it, and she wouldn’t see it, because right now Zade looked like he was going to kill someone.

Even Ace, Zephyr, and Jane could tell that there was no one here. They couldn’t sense any scent aside from the rotten damp smell that filled the room.

If Sybill had no scent at all, then it would explain why they couldn’t sense her.

"Sybill!" Seara’s eyes lit up when she saw Sybill was sitting on the small bed, where they used to sleep together.

They didn’t provide an extra bed even when Sybill joined her in this cell, so the two of them had to sleep so close together that they couldn’t move.

However, it felt nice because they could talk the whole night and stay awake until the next morning. Sybill would tell her about the two friends that she had and what they were doing together.

That reminded Seara of Neriah and Eira.

Seara couldn’t share detailed memories of her experiences with Neriah and Eira with Sybill because those memories were unclear; however, she enjoyed hearing about the activities Sybill and her friends had done together.

"Seara," Sybill said. She lifted her head, and her hazel eyes stared at her with a small, warm smile.

Without a second thought, Seara immediately opened the cell door and went to hug her. She cried in happiness to see her again.

"I am sorry, Sybill, I am sorry. I should have come sooner. I am sorry that it took me this long to come and see you."

"Don’t cry," Sybill said. Her voice was as warm as she remembered it. She wiped Seara’s tears and caressed her head. "I am glad you are happy now. I am happy too. You have found your mate, right?"

"Yes..." Seara wiped her tears and blushed slightly with the mention of Zade. "I can’t believe it."

"Of course you have to believe that, Seara; you deserve it." Sybill hugged her tightly. "I am so happy for you."

"Come with me, Sybill. Let’s go. Leave this place, and we will do all the things that we have been talking about. We can see the outside world again, and there are a lot of things that I want to show you."

"That sounds great," Sybill said, but she didn’t get up when Seara pulled her hand to get away from there.

"Come on, Sybill, get up. Let’s get out of here."

"It will be great if we can go out." Sybill still didn’t move from where she was sitting. She looked at Seara, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes, and Seara didn’t understand why she gave her that look.

"What happened, Sybill?"

Sybill said nothing, but her eyes gazed over Seara’s shoulder to the person behind her.

Seara didn’t need to turn around to know who that person was, because Zade had been standing there since the beginning.

"Sybill? Come on. What are you waiting for?" Seara felt the panic surge; she tried to breathe deeply. She was scared because Sybill didn’t want to go. Why didn’t she want to go? "Come on, we need to leave."

Seara then turned around and looked at Zade and the others, who were staring at her.

"Can you leave us alone for a while? Sybill is a little bit shy..."
