Chapter 121: HE WILL NOT HURT ME
Jane was not trying to be cynical with Leia, but she was rather regretting her decision to believe what Leia said about the mate bond and all.
She was not really in touch with her shifter side; that was why, for her, the mate bond and the myth behind it felt like a bedtime story.
However, she let Leia convince her that it was the right thing to do. Hence, here they were...
Leia was still trying to get away from the police car that would drive them to the hospital, while the warrior who was with them was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.
"We shouldn’t be here; we should get to them," Leia said irritably. She was so close to shifting into her wolf form and went back.
However, the police wouldn’t let her anywhere near there. They had called a tow truck to take her car as well and reassured her that the other police would retrieve her daughter.
They assumed she was worried for her daughter. While it was true that she was worried about Seara, Leia had three other people that she was worried about.
"Don’t do anything stupid, Leia. It is already stupid enough that we came here." Jane was agitated. It disturbed her to see the way Zade took Seara away, and she couldn’t do anything. If something happened to Seara, it would be her fault, because she should have been able to prevent it.

The afternoon sun was scorching hot, which made the asphalt feel like a hot iron against her skin, while the pebbles grated against her back, not to mention her arm.
Seara thought she was going to lose her arm as the beast dragged her away. Her whole body was in pain, and she closed her eyes to bear with the agony. She used her other hand to clutch onto the beast’s fur so it would alleviate some of the pain, though it didn’t really help.
She didn’t know how long she was taken away, but when the beast stopped running, he let go of her arm, and Seara could only curl her body on the floor. The tiles felt cold, which was nice against the burning pain in her whole body.
And when Seara opened her eyes, she stared at the high ceiling; it seemed they were inside an indoor basketball court. She saw rings on both sides while she was lying and bleeding in the middle of the court.
She whimpered in pain while Zade prowled around her in his beast form.
"Zade..." Seara called him in a weak voice, but the beast snarled at her. She had seen him in his beast form a few times before; therefore, she could immediately recognize Zade. "Zade... It hurts."
Seara was scared Zade would attack her. He could kill her if he wanted to, and there were no other people here. The soft sound of his paws and the low, guttural growl echoed throughout the wall.
To think the beast could attack her was understandable, because Seara could feel the murderous intention from Zade right now.
However, Zade had said before that he would never hurt her.
"Zade, it’s me." Seara pressed her hand against her left arm, where Zade had bitten her and dragged her through the asphalt to here.
Instead, the beast still let out a low growl at her. He circled her and stared at her stretched-out hand viciously.
However, Seara noticed something; he didn’t try to attack her. The black beast that was as big as a bear made a calculated move as he observed her.
So, Seara tried again. "Zade, it’s me... Seara." She held back her tears and the pain that shot through all over her body; her back was burning, and she knew it was bleeding after the asphalt grated her skin. "Zade, I am scared. It hurts..." she whimpered, because it indeed hurt, and her left arm was still bleeding, and now she was sitting in the pool of her own blood.
At first, the beast stopped moving, but then he slowly moved closer to Seara. He sniffed her outstretched hand, then looked her in the eyes.
"It’s me, please, Zade." Seara’s voice was between pleading and crying.
The beast moved closer again; he sniffed, licked the blood on her hand, and then moved even closer as he sniffed her hair and pressed his muzzle against her neck.
Seara’s body immediately stiffened. The beast was so close; it would only take one second for him to snap, and she would be dead. He could bite her neck down, and it would clear her head out of her shoulder.
However, Seara believed Zade wouldn’t do that. He promised her that he wouldn’t hurt her. He had already hurt her technically, but Seara believed it was because he perceived the police as a threat and wanted to get her away from them.
She might be delusional, and she was indeed delusional, but when the black beast rested his muzzle on her shoulder and she felt the weight of it, Seara raised her hand instinctively. She was trembling because she had lost so much blood.
"It’s me, Zade." Seara caressed his fur, which had been coated in blood. "It’s me... your mate." As she ran her fingers through his black fur, she could feel the beast visibly relax under her touch. "It’s okay... It’s me..."
Seara said the same thing that Zade told her whenever she was having a breakdown or she started spiraling.
"It’s okay..." Seara pressed her head against his as he still rested his muzzle on her shoulder. The weight became heavier as her head became lighter. She felt the court was spinning.
But suddenly, the beast tensed up, and he growled viciously. He moved so fast that Seara couldn’t follow. The first thing that came to her mind was that the beast had finally lost control and she was going to die.
Especially when he suddenly knocked her down and pushed her to the ground. The black beast let out a guttural growl.
