Chapter 1460 - 734: Escaping Calamity
Lin Beichen’s recent actions easily broke through the barrier. Now that the task is complete, there’s no need to linger any longer. It’s better to head into the mountain to find out where the monsters are.
"Master, that move just now was awesome! I never knew you were so talented. It’s truly an honor to be your disciple."
Ouyang Chenhai spoke enthusiastically, any fear of the dangers they might face vanished, replaced by deep admiration for Lin Beichen.
"That was nothing."
Lin Beichen remarked that it was just a small skill. He still had many abilities he hadn’t shown, and since they hadn’t encountered any major problems, he couldn’t display his full prowess in front of them.
"What happened to Camel Peak Mountain?"
Li Ningzhi said in shock, seeing the once beautiful scenic area now deserted and in ruins.
"Camel Peak Mountain was my favorite place in the city. Seeing it like this, I’ve decided that once we deal with the monsters, I will finance and contribute to its rebuilding,"
Ouyang Chenhai said resolutely. In the past, he often visited this scenic area and made many friends here.
He had deep feelings for this place. Seeing its current state made him sad, and he vowed to restore it once the monsters were dealt with.
This place used to be very popular, but now it’s like this because of those monsters.
If it weren’t for the monsters, this place would still be bustling as it was before.
From these facilities, one could tell it was once a thriving place. Now abandoned, Lin Beichen also felt some regret. But what’s done is done; there’s no turning back.
Lin Beichen walked up the stone steps. After not even twenty meters, he saw a three-headed monster staring intently at them.
Lin Beichen’s heart skipped a beat, immediately preparing for battle. If the monster dared to attack, he would counterattack immediately to protect everyone.
"Why does this monster have three heads? It’s my first time seeing one like this."
Ouyang Chenhai couldn’t help but say. Though they’d seen various strange monsters from the safety of their homes at night, this three-headed creature was a first.
"No matter what, we can’t let our guard down."
Even though they didn’t understand the monster’s nature, they had to remain vigilant at all times. Who knew what the creature might do next.
All three focused their gaze on the monster.
Fearful that a sudden attack would catch them off guard.
That would be bad, so they had to keep a close watch on it.
But the monster didn’t make any movement. The sunlight outside made monsters generally afraid of light, so it didn’t dare to advance.
"The monster didn’t attack us as I expected, but we still can’t relax."
Li Ningzhi said puzzled. They had come right up to the monster, yet it hadn’t reacted.
It was unusual, but they had to remain cautious and not relax.
Ouyang Chenhai, being sharp-minded, quickly realized the reason for the monster’s lack of reaction.
"I know why it isn’t attacking us. It’s afraid of the light and won’t come forward. Did you forget about this?"
Indeed, the monster stayed hidden in the shade, with no part exposed to the sun.
"So we can use the sunlight to deal with these monsters and easily get rid of them," Ouyang Chenhai suggested.
"Hey, not bad. You’re pretty sharp coming up with this idea," Li Ningzhi said, patting Ouyang Chenhai on the shoulder and leaning against him casually.
"Don’t underestimate me. Do you think you’re the only smart one?" Ouyang Chenhai replied with a smile.
"Let’s retreat first and come back tomorrow. When the sun is strong, we’ll wipe out these monsters," Li Ningzhi proposed. Since it was afternoon and the sunlight was weak, it would be better to act tomorrow when the sun was at its peak.
"There’s no need to wait until tomorrow. We can do it today," Lin Beichen shook his head, indicating there was no need to wait.
Ouyang Chenhai looked at Lin Beichen with confusion, thinking it would be easier to deal with the monsters in strong sunlight. Why do it today? But he didn’t question further, knowing Lin Beichen must have his reasons and constant questioning would be annoying.
Under their watchful eyes, Lin Beichen continued to stride forward.
They thought Lin Beichen was crazy; the monster was right there, and he boldly walked ahead without fear of being torn apart. The monster was so large that even with Lin Beichen’s skills, defeating it wasn’t guaranteed.
They were about to call Lin Beichen back, but he walked right past the monster, which didn’t react or attack him.
This surprised them both, for they had reached the shaded area where a monster should have attacked them, yet it hadn’t reacted at all.
"They’re not just afraid of sunlight; they fear the daylight too. You see, it stays in the shade, watching us, but it can’t move. Once evening comes, it’ll be able to act freely, but for now, we’re safe," Lin Beichen explained.
They finally understood: the monster fears the day but not the night.
Lin Beichen led them through a sloped path, where they discovered a massive entrance large enough for two trucks to pass side by side and still have room to spare.
