Continental Hero Senki

Ten Days of Battle - End of Day 10 -

March 24.

The Torn offensive forces under Marshal Lax have painstakingly succeeded in withdrawing while maintaining the chain of command.

But the damage was too great for the Grand Duchy army.

Before the battle, the army that counted 70,000 was reduced to just under 20,000, and half of those who do not return travel to heaven, while the other half are captives of the princely army. Among them is also the son of a nominal nobleman, whose damage to the Grand Duchy army is greater than the number.

He was also taken prisoner because Marshal Lax himself became a palace army.

The greatest battle in the civil war in Silesia, called the "Ten Days of Battle" for future generations, ended with the strategic and tactical defeat of the Grand Duchy army.

But on the other hand, there is no doubt that the Princess Army has also suffered enormous damage.

20,000 of the 50,000 troops, including reinforcements, died without war wounds. It also hurt strategically that the damage was terrible, especially during the final offensive, and therefore the failure to satisfactorily pursue the Lax Corps.

But there's no mistake in winning.

In that regard, there is still salvation in the princely army.

... if both enemies and allies turn away from the inexorable fact that they are beloved Silesian subjects, we are talking about.

---

"... Colonel, are you done?

"This battle is over, Mr. Feene."

After the battle, Mr. Fine, a non-combat personnel, finally gave him a relief look. Torn's tragedy is terrible, and while there are many civilian deaths out there, she was continuing to support me with information.

"To avoid wasting this victory, I'd like to ask Mr. Feene a few questions."

"I know. I exaggerate the victory of this battle and deliver it to other countries."

He smiled invincibly and guessed my intentions.

Perhaps this is one side of the Empire tabloid paper tomorrow.

"Grand Duke Carol defeated!? Princess Silesia Wins Current Issue!

... This was a bad one.

"But there's one condition."

That being said, Mr Fine has, as usual, wanted an equivalence exchange.

"If it's what I can do, I'll do anything"

"Pfft. You just said 'do anything', didn't you?

……

Mr. Fine's invitation, with an even more invincible grin than earlier, could not be refused. Well, you know, what? Let's defend ourselves that we've floated to victory.

... It is a reward at this time that Sarah got mad at me and had to do the same to Sarah. I wish I hadn't been impotent.

The next day, March 25.

Marshal Jigmunt Lax of the Grand Duchy Army met with Princess Emilia, calling her the captive representative.

Normally, it's a job around General Rosenstock, but Princess Emilia has only hope, and as an escort, Mr. Maya, as an advisor, I was also present at the meeting.

What is discussed is the treatment of prisoners.

"- Many of them are simply those who have been commanded to move, not beliefs or greatness. Regardless of what we officers do, give the soldiers a generous treatment."

In other words, they are concerned that they will be tried for treason.

From what we're saying "officers," they don't care what noble officers do. Major General Riselski is also the second son of the Baron family and a politically important human being.

If Princess Emilia is to assume the hegemony of the kingdom in the future, this staircase will be an important one.

... but.

- Raise your head, Marshal.

His Royal Highness Emilia said to him with a smile and voice like the Mother of Mercy.

"Neither I, a soldier nor an officer, intend to harm you as an enemy, hairy. Because they are my beloved kingdom subjects."

"... Are you sure?

It was supposed to be the enemy, and the marshal made such a questionable voice with such a surprised face.

I wanted to say the same thing to His Highness, but that's probably fine because His Highness, whom we love, says so.

His Highness Emilia speaks on the spot about the conditions for surrender. The outline was discussed in advance with General Rosenstock, but the details were different.

I. Two copies of the roster of officers and soldiers shall be drawn up for the prisoners, one for the officers nominated by General Rosenstock and one for the officers nominated by Marshal Lax.

II. Until this civil war is officially ended and each treatment is determined by the Royal Government, no weapons will be received from the officers, and the officers and soldiers will be released on parole unless they pledge allegiance to the Royal Government and the army under the Princess and bow to the Government and the army.

III. Return is allowed for soldiers and officers living in areas currently occupied by the Royal Government. A temporary dwelling is provided for those living in other areas. In so far as they comply with the laws of the Royal Government and the regions concerned, they are guaranteed their physical freedom until formal treatment is decided.

IV. Public assets, such as munitions and military horses, shall be retained on this occasion and handed over to officers nominated by General Rosenstock. Note that this does not extend to private property, nor does it include an officer's sword.

V. Make the officers sign more than that, and the officers make the soldiers aware of it, and make each one sign. The signatures shall be drawn up in two copies and kept by their respective officers in the same manner as one.

- That's it.

His Highness Emilia stated its terms of surrender with a clear pronunciation.

Generosity, to the point.

As long as they abide by the laws of the kingdom, they are not detained, their property is not confiscated, and they are forgiven for returning to their homeland.

Regarding that, there was also a rebellion, no matter what. But His Highness Emilia didn't give in as hard as she could. Says,

"The unfortunate war is over."

and.

His Highness believed that the end of this battle would be the end of the war itself. The Grand Duchy Army has lost most of its main power and has lost its core personnel. One great defeat would result in the disobedience of the nobility.

The war is virtually over.

"... ok. I swallow that condition."

Marshal Lax swallowed the terms of His Highness Emilia's surrender.

The talks are over and Marshal Lax and Princess Emilia leave the Torn City Hall. With a few officers under General Rosenstock, he disappeared.

And the crowd watching it - the majority of whom were soldiers of the Princess Army - cheered to make it sound like Marshal Lax.

"Long live Her Highness Princess Emilia!

"Long live Victory!

"Long live the kingdom!

and.

We won, and you lost, and they raised their voices in this sight.

... watching and not feeling very good.

Maya also looked up and opened her mouth to say something to them. But I heard a riddle of voices blocking it before I said anything.

"- Stop it!

Needless to say, it was His Highness Emilia.

To that one word, everyone was puzzled. But everyone was convinced by the words that went on.

"… they have already returned, to the same subjects as us, to their compatriots. I can't do anything to please the fall of their brethren."

This is a civil war.

It is the end of an ugly battle for succession to the throne. And the generals, apart from some royal nobility, were only caught up in it.

It is certain that there was a political intention here to cheer and mischievously incite enmity, like oiling back into an ending civil war.

But more than that, it was clear from the look on his face that His Highness Emilia emotionally disliked that "cheering voice".

---

After the talks, Marshal Lax went straight down to the prisoners.

Only the legions that were there now leave them. Because the regiment that managed to escape no longer formed the structure of the army.

And Marshal Lax did his last job as Marshal of the Royal Army.

Before the army of 20,000, he opened his mouth.

After ten days of unparalleled courage and strong struggle on your part, we succumbed to the armies of our beloved Princess.

You are brave men who have survived many ordeals and have fought with determination.

But this result came not because of your lack of power, nor because I did not believe that you would win.

For I have felt that nothing accomplished by your valor and diligence can fill the losses anticipated by continuing the battle.

For I felt that I could not waste your valor, your diligence, by this miserable civil war, your struggle, which everyone would be proud of.

You can all go home.

I want you to be proud of that bravery and diligence, and serve it with your breasts and return to the beloved of your homeland.

May our believing God bring you blessings, blessings, and mercy.

I praise you with all my heart for your loyalty, and with great memory, I bid you farewell.

- Goodbye.
