Chapter 59. Second bookmark (1)

Chapter 59

Second bookmark

The moment I tore the bookmark, time stopped.

Even the bonfire stopped as if someone had caught it. The same thing happened when Black Yoo Baek Hyun called the author of the eighth book.

When I saw a world where everything stopped.

I feel a faint behind my back.

“Tsk.”

The next thing I heard was a low kick to the tongue.

Ferda slowly turns her head. Then I saw a middle-aged man with a hot beard.

A man with dark grey hair and green eyes.

As soon as I found him, I reflected on the man's name.

‘Lantern Decade. ’

Third time author and hunter of the zombie world.

And the first to break through the second disaster.

Ferda lists the Lantern information in her head, one by one.

Then Lantern sighs suddenly.

“Phew, I guess this novel isn't finished yet. ”

You're pretty quick to spot.

I'd be embarrassed if I were summoned to a bookmark, but I don't have the slightest inkling. Rather, I adapted very quickly. As the debris settles in Ferda's eyes, Lantern's gaze settles on him.

“I don't know if I should say it's nice to see you, or if I should say it's hard being away, but let's start with a full disclosure. ”

He takes a step closer to reach out his hand.

“This is Lantern Deckard, author of the third edition. What is your name?”

“The 9th author, Kang Tae-min. In this place, it's called Ferda. ”

You hold Lantern's hand and give him a brief introduction.

Lantern, on the other hand, frowns slightly.

“Ferda? Hmm, Ferdala. ”

He muttered several times as if he had heard a familiar name.

Then I suddenly tapped my knee as if I had forgotten.

“Oh, right. I remember him, he was clearly an incompetent homeroom teacher. ”

“Who's to say? You were the incompetent gardener. ”

Ferda, who burst his bloody smile, rebukes.

Just as he opened his eyes from Ferda's body, he awoke from the body of the Archdute Earl's eastern mansion, the gardener. At the same time, Lantern laughs lightly at Ferda's rebuke.

“By the way, I didn't think it was over until the ninth round. ”

After a simple birth name.

Lantern looks around and mutters as if pathetic.

“You don't seem to have a good eye for picking people. ”

Then, suddenly, some of Lantern's words sound like they're crumpled up.

But I wasn't embarrassed. It wasn't the first time.

‘More. ’

There was something else that troubled me.

Lantern's outfit. It was an unforgivable outfit. First, I couldn't feel what was in the material. Moreover, the color of the clothes changed over time. Gloves and boots were the same.

Did he feel Ferda's gaze at the time?

Lantern tilts his head and asks.

“What are you looking at? ”

“No, I'm a little curious about my outfit. ”

Ferda openly replied.

Then Lantern bursts into laughter.

“I understand. You must be from another world like me. ”

After a while, the laughter disappears from his face.

“So before we get to the point, let me give you a quick introduction. ”

His information from the third round was extremely limited.

He had a long history of being a hunter in a world full of zombies.

What kind of past does Lantern have?

Ferda looks at him curiously.

But an unexpected answer came out.

“Before I came here, I was a commander of the Federation of Galaxies. ”

“· · · · · · · · What? ”

Suddenly, the accident stopped.

The galaxy? You mean that thing in space?

No, why would a guy living in the zombie world suddenly bring up a word like that? When all questions were raised, Lantern spoke.

“The rank was the commander, and he commanded two fleets. ”

Seeing the story leading to a bold tone, it seemed that the galaxy Ferda had in mind was right.

I wanted to ask, but I endured it. The question won't be too late after the rest of his history.

Lantern, on the other hand, goes on.

“Then one day, one of the fleets went missing. ”

I couldn't figure out why. All we found was a place where the fleet was thought to be missing. That's why he led the rest of the fleet and began exploring the missing area.

Then, due to an unknown accident, the trap that Lantern was on crashes down on a planet. When he regained consciousness, he was alone. Neither his men nor his fleet knew where they were going.

But there was something worse.

That the planet was severely contaminated.

“What a hell of a place. It was full of walking corpses. ”

Lantern frowns in disgust.

Fortunately, he was in the middle of an operation, so he was fully armed.

“That's how I fought to survive. In a world where I was the only person alive, there was only one story that stood by me. ”

This is similar to Yoo Baek Hyun.

He also confessed that he was able to endure a harsh life thanks to him.

“I survived six years thanks to you. By the time you've dealt with almost all the zombies, you've barely made contact with the mainstream. By the time I was on my way home, I heard a voice that I didn't know was there. ”

This was also the same phenomenon as Yoo Baek Hyun.

When I heard an unknown voice, I woke up and realized that it was this world.

But only one thing was different.

“I don't remember all the voices. But I heard the last word clearly. ”

“ · · · · · ·! ”

Ferda opens her eyes wide to hear the contents of her voice.

Shortly thereafter, Lantern opens his mouth, reminiscent of the moment.

“He's right for me." ’I said. ”

“Appropriate?”

“Yes. Now that I think about it, I think it's appropriate to call it here. ”

Lantern's answer is clear.

It was not the author of the previous round that brought Ferda into the world of fiction, but the work of someone unknown.

“From then on, you know, I woke up in the gardener's body, and I lived to finish this story. This is all I have left. ”

In the end, Lantern finishes a long story.

Meanwhile, Ferda looks at him in wonder.

At first, I thought he was just a guy who lived in a world of zombies. By the way, I never thought you'd be an astronaut for a high-altitude civilization like the SF novel.

I looked at him with such interesting eyes.

The tightly closed lips of Lantern reopen.

“If your curiosity is solved, we'll get to the point. ”

Was Ferda's glittering eyes too much?

Lantern turns his gaze slightly to the side. Then I suddenly asked with a face that reminded me of something.

“Oh, before that. How old are you now? ”

“Fourteen. ”

“Yes, if you're 14 years old. What? Fourteen?! ”

Lantern is surprised to ask, as he fearlessly connects his words.

Facing this, Ferda nods.

“I don't understand. If I was fourteen years old, I'd have plenty of time before the second disaster. ”

Lantern blurs his horse with an unsurprised face.

After a while, he asked curiously.

“Then why did you call me already? No, why would you call me before that? When you get a bookmark for the first time, most people call the author of the previous session. ”

I sighed at the questions that popped up in a row.

There seems to be some misunderstanding. Ferda opens her mouth straight away.

“I'll answer gradually. First of all, I'm not the first person to use bookmarks. This is the second bookmark. And I called you because you were the only one I could call. ”

How about this? You understand?

Ferda thought to herself, However, he does not look surprised. Rather, I shouted with a more surprised face.

“Wait, wait, wait. Did you say second bookmark? ”

He bites the word "toxic second bookmark." With a nod, Lantern shouts in a desperate nonsense.

“Then there's no more reason to summon me. ”

“Huh? What do you mean? ”

“Bookmarks can only be obtained when you have overcome disasters. ”

It was Ferda's surprise this time.

It was because I had no idea. As you learn new facts, your reaction to Lantern is somewhat understandable.

After a short while, Ferda shakes her head and replies.

“I hope so, but unfortunately not yet. ”

You cut it right off and denied Lantern's words.

Then he briefly explained the path to getting the bookmark.

“System? Error Reward? ”

But he didn't understand a thing.

Of course. Just as Ferda didn't know about Lantern's past, he won't know Ferda's past until he speaks for himself.

“I think I need to share my past, too. ”

You shrug your shoulders and open your mouth straight away.

Ferda then outlined her past. When the monsters appeared on Earth, Hunter, and the Yggdrasil system. I chose and explained only the parts that are necessary for the description to come.

About a decade later.

Lantern nods with an interesting glance.

“That system is like my Seed. ”

“Sid?"

I asked a strange question.

Then the answer came right back.

“It is the name of a learned artificial intelligence. Supply is only given to the Commander of the Federation, but it was handed over when you entered this world. Thanks to you, I was able to get a lot of information from the debris. ”

As soon as Randon's words are finished, his eyes widen.

A moment later, Ferda asked in a surprised voice.

“It can't be the identity of the enormous analytical power you sometimes see. ”

“Yes. It's mostly Sid. ”

In the original, Lantern would occasionally get information he didn't expect from a ghost's sharp analytical powers. I thought you were supposed to have that ability, but I didn't think it was the power of artificial intelligence.

At that moment, I was surprised and asked a question.

“Then why wasn't it mentioned in the original? ”

In all the original lectures, the word "artificial intelligence" never came out.

That is, it has never been recorded. Why? Ferda stares at Lantern with a questionable face. However, the answer he wanted did not come back.

“I don't know. There was no way to check my records in the first place. ”

A reasonable answer has come back.

But the question remained, and Ferda let out a low groan. Later, Lantern turns the conversation elsewhere.

“I understood that I got a second bookmark in a different path. Then why did you already use bookmarks? In fact, at your age, how many more years before the second disaster strikes? ”

In Lantern's question, Ferda confidently explains her situation.

From the day we arrived in the desert, at the request of the Desert Tribe, to the disaster debris, everything we encountered with Akasha. Shortly thereafter, Lantern mutters with a puzzling face.

“I can't believe it. How can there already be a second disaster. ”

“So I have a question for you. ”

The background description was enough.

Let's get down to business. As you feel Lantern's gaze, Ferda points her hand at the wooden pillar beyond the mist.

Then I asked the question with a fierce glow in my eyes.

“Do you know anything about that tree? ”
