Weaving in ancient times actually had its own meaning.

Spinning means spinning, refers to spinning ramie fiber into yarn or thread

Weaving means weaving cloth, which refers to weaving yarn into cloth.

Qin Shi both are quite tedious tasks.

However, they have a common feature, that is, they are cumbersome but not complicated. What they want is to repeat the same over and over again.

For example, weaving cloth is actually like weaving a basket, dividing the warp and weft, and then weaving the warp and weft interlaced together to form a cloth.

Just because the yarn is very fine, it takes a long time to manually knit into a cloth that can be made into clothes.

This has also doubled the cost of clothes... The vast majority of its costs are labor costs.

The original loom is a waist machine, that is, sitting on the ground and fixing one end of the warp thread on the waist with a hemp rope, the other end is supported with both feet and the warp threads are separated by "splitting bars" to separate the odd and even numbers...

"Splitting rod" is something that people invented when weaving cloth in ancient times.

As mentioned before, weaving is like weaving a basket with wefts interlaced one by one in the warp.

If it is handmade and each weft thread has to be interspersed like this, the workload is obviously too much.

So people came up with a method: fix the ends of the warp threads and collapse straight, and then insert a "splitting bar" in the odd and even numbers of the warp threads, so that the odd and even numbers of the warp threads are always in a staggered state, and only the weft threads are needed. Just pass through the "weaving" formed when the "split bar" is lifted.

In the Warring States period, although there was already a pedal loom, it was actually the same as the "waist machine", except that the frame, heald frame, wheel and pedal were added. machine".

But there are still many people who use this primitive weaving method.
