Chapter 35: First time outside.
’ Is she back because of me?’ Osborne said to himself, only to brush off the thought.
In all honesty, he couldn’t care less, While she was the most acceptable out of the Roosevelt sisters, to him, it didn’t matter because even now, he was still imprisoned here for a crime that he didn’t start.
It just went to show that none of them were good people.
Only berreting her sisters after all they’d done to him? Not even trying to seek justice for him? Doesn’t that make her just as bad as the rest?
In a way, she was the worst of all, because she wouldn’t hesitate to tend to his wounds, only for him to end up being tortured and harassed again.
A person who always sought to help without solving the problem was no different from the main cause of it.
After both women left, Osborne glanced at his shackles before pulling his right hand forward.
The old chains groaned beneath the pressure he was applying but refused to budge.
’... It’s just like I thought, if I wanted to break free, it’d be nearly impossible but not impossible.’
’ Normally I shouldn’t even be this strong.’
’ Does this mean that my time in the nightmare realm is having an effect on my body in this world?’ Osborne thought to himself.
If this was true, then it’d be pretty ironic, since the very thing he’d been running from all this time was actually what he needed the most.
Osborne also came to realise something. While it seemed like weeks had gone by in the nightmare realm, in reality, far less time had passed.
He’d already gotten the feeling before that time went by differently in that realm, and yet he couldn’t tell how fast the difference was.
Feeling that his thoughts weren’t getting him anywhere.
He closed his eyes and gradually went back to sleep. Returning to the nightmare realm.
*********
" Oi, rise and shine." Two knights in full armour stepped into Osbornes cell.
His eyes slowly opened as he stared at both of them in silence.
One of the knights moved over and began unlocking his restraints.
" You sure this is a good idea?" The knight by the door said, looking uneasy.
" What? You scared he might do something." His comrade chuckled.
" Don’t let the rumours get to you, the young master isn’t as bad as you think." The first guard said. " I should know since lady Ruby tasked me with feeding him up till now."
The other knight walked over and whispered to his comrade. " But wasn’t he the one who almost killed a knight on duty?"
" That was only self defence." Osborne said in a light tone, causing the second knight to flinch.
’ How did he hear what I just said?!’ the knight wondered.
After being freed, Osborne didn’t attack or do anything of the sort, time in the daggers world had taught him a great deal about composure.
He rubbed his sore wrists. " Why are my restraints being removed?"
" Her lady requested for you to be brought to her at once."
Osborne merely raised a brow.
" Our Lady Roseline." The first guard said.
’ She’s here?’ Osborne recalled the time Rebecca and Clawdeth came about. They talked about her returning but it’d been weeks since then.
In the dagger world, the time frame was far more different for him, to him it was as if more than two years had gone by with him in there.
After so long, he came to decipher that the time rate within the dagger world was surprisingly 100 times greater.
With that being said.
’ It’s been awfully stagnant ever since I reached the edge of that world...’ Osborne later discovered that the so called forest at the edge of the grassy plains was nothing but an illusion.
In actually, it appeared that the daggers world ended at that point, which drew more questions from him.
Of course he’d also dealt with every murderous rabbit in that space. Now all that was left was a the grassy plains that grew back, without the existence of the murderous rabbits.
His body’s capabilities had also developed during that time, while his strength had only increased from his daily exercises in the dungeon, his instincts, reflexes, mind and stamina had benefited greatly from his time in the daggers world.
*****
Osborne followed the two knights out of the dungeon.
’ I wonder what she has in mind for calling me upon her arrival.’ he wasn’t like his former self anymore that wanted others to accept that he was a weak victim.
Right now, he really couldn’t care less what anyone thought of him.
So long as he could get out of his imprisonment without much fuss, he was satisfied.
’ The fact that she’s returned, does it mean that the demons have already temporary retreated their advances like in the novel.’ Osborne recalled some info from the story.
The demons retreat had been something that happened in the early stages, giving the kingdom a brief era of peace.
With no need to remain stationed at the northern border, Roseline had returned to the mansion. But perhaps due to her experience on the battlefield, she lived a somewhat lethargic life at the time.
Which was also one of the reasons, the novel version of himself has been able to use her power without restraint for a long while.
Though the current him had no such leeway since unlike his more cowardly past self, he ended up making enemies out of the sisters early on Instead of later on when he’d already amassed enough power.
Nevertheless, that was all in the Webnovel. Now Osborne had a different path he wished to choose.
One that certainly didn’t involve that woman or her household.
The three of them walked until they came across a few maids who looked like they’d been waiting for them for some time.
All of them secretly looked at Osborne with uneasy looks.
Osborne simply glanced over them in search of someone. A bit of disappointment flashing past his eyes when he didn’t see her anywhere.
