Chapter 34: Not the same.
Chapter 34: Not the same.
After coming so far and finally making progress, was he really going to end it all simply because the only food he had, tasted horrible?
After dying over and over and over again that he’d practically lost count.
With his vision turning hazy, Osborne stared at the rabbit corpse still in his hand.
’ No!’ he steeled his mind before taking a savage bite, tearing a huge chunk out from the raw flesh and swallowing it whole.
" BLUERGH~" But once again, his stomach refused, and he ended up throwing it back up.
Yet even then, Osborne didn’t stop.
Each time he threw up the bloody flesh, he would take another bite, refusing to give up.
Even after he completely wasted the three rabbit corpses, he didn’t stop and instead continued to expand the clearing.
Each time he found a rabbit, he would kill it, skin it, and gobble it down.
Nevertheless, his mind still reached a point of exhaustion.
In order to rest, he grabbed the dagger and began digging out a human sized burrow.
It took a while but eventually he did.
Afraid that something would attack him in his sleep.
He did something he once saw on a survival channel back on earth.
Using the entrails of the rabbit corpses, as disgusting as it sounded, he scooped out their lingering excrement and smeared it all over his body.
Before entering the burrow and covering the entrance with dry grasses he cleared whilst building the clearing.
Each time he got a proper rest, he would leave the burrow and continue to expand the clearing.
Like that, days slowly went by, with Osborne expanding the clearing over and over.
Even as the sun continued to beat down on him, he never stopped, and soon he began noticing some progress.
First, his distaste for raw flesh was now practically non existent and he could chomp down on the rabbit corpses to sustain himself.
And second, he realised that his body had changed subtly.
He wasn’t sure if it was due to his constant hard work, but his stamina and agility had increased with each passing day.
Such progress naturally made him feel grateful and hopeful, but he didn’t let it cloud his mind.
Knowing his life, he believed something bad would eventually come of it one way or the order, so he didn’t dwell much on it and continued to work day and night.
By then, he reckoned that weeks had gone by yet he never stopped, continuing to pursue his dream of clearing the grassy plain and exterminate all the murderous rabbits within.

"....." Osborne’s eyes shot open when a bucket of ice cold water was doused on him. His wet hair was stuck to his face but his eyes still looked around and saw that he was currently in an underground cell of some kind.
The only pair of clothes he had on were worn out pants, his chest and scars complete bare to the gazes of others.
" Are you finally awake yet?" Rebecca gave him an impatient stare.
Osborne stared at her in silence, before looking at the person behind her, suited in expensive looking armour.
The suited figure was none other than Clawdeth.
Both women he had a grudge against, yet this time around, he didn’t react on impulse.
" Are you listening to me?" Rebecca frowned when all she got in return was silence.
Annoyed, she came even closer. " I know you’re awake so stop acting!"
" My lady, perhaps it’s unwise to–"
" What?!" Rebecca turned around to glare at Clawdeth. " You think I should be scared of this useless thing?!"
" What could he possibly do when he’s–" Rebecca didn’t even finish her sentence before he lashed out, tugging at the chains to draw him near her before biting at her.
CHOMP!
"...?!!!!" Clawdeth’s pupils widened in disbelief.
" AHHHH!!!!!" Rebecca screamed in pain as she fell backwards on her ass, clutching at her bleeding ear.
Her scream grew louder when she saw the torn piece of her ear in his mouth.
From beneath, his intense, unsettling, maniac stare could be seen.
" You animal!!" Furious, Clawdeth delivered a swift blow to Osborn’s face, breaking his nose, and causing him to bleed.
And yet she couldn’t help but frown when he simply tilted his head to the side without crying out in pain whatsoever, as if mocking her.
He dangled the piece of Rebecca’s torn off ear in her face before flicking his head up, tossing it into the air and swallowing it with an intentional loud snap of his jaws.
" You insolent bastard!! I’ll kill you!" Clawdeth brandished her claws, her tail on end while her eyes turned into those of cats.
Up till now, she always felt that someone like him wasn’t even worth her time, yet that same man had just humiliated and mocked her to her face.
" No! Don’t!" Rebecca narrowly stopped her just as her claws were about to mince him to pieces.
" If you harm him again, then we’ll both be in trouble once my older sister Roseline returns."
" But my lady! He–!" Clawdeth gnashed her fangs, glaring daggers at Osborne, even traces of her aura began to seep through, showing just how disgruntled she was right now.
"I said it’s enough! We only came here to make sure he’s still alive. If he dies, Sister Ruby won’t be happy about this." Rebecca said before biting her lower lip in frustration.
’I want to kill this man myself right now, but I can’t...’
Rebecca’s gaze briefly shifted toward the door.
Ruby had returned the moment she heard what happened. If Rebecca killed Osborne now, there was no doubt her immediate older sister would tell Roseline everything the moment she returned.
And Rebecca had no intention of dealing with her first sister’s wrath.
’ Damn that half breed bitch! Why did she have to ruin my plans like this!’ Rebecca cursed in her head.
It would appear that it was Guinevere’s doing that things were currently progressing like this.
At the mention of Ruby, Osborne’s smile faltered for a moment.
Hadn’t she already left for the military? Were they saying that she was back again? But why?
