Chapter 20: Stop getting in my way.

He’d come all the way here in order to change his and his loved ones fates, but to think that in the end, faith would play such a dirty trick on him.

’ Should I just grab something else and leave?’ Osborne said to himself, but felt regretful the next moment because he knew that no matter what he took from here, it definitely wouldn’t be able to compare to the sword.

He thought that not only because of how powerful the sword was, but because from reading the Webnovel, he knew that everything in this room was no different from normal jewelry and riches since it wasn’t stated that the protagonist gained any additional powers after obtaining the holy sword.

’ Just what in the world am I supposed to do now!’ Osborne in a fit of anger, slammed his fist onto the ground.

CLATTER~ CLATTER~

THUMP~

’ Huh?’ Osborne noticed something strange after striking his fist.

’ Why does this place feel off?’ he thought to himself.

Driven by curiosity, he used his hands to push the treasures around him aside.

Hop~ Hop~ Hop~

The holy sword made its way to him, moving around in front of him as if mocking him again.

But this time Osborne didn’t pay it much attention, instead he was more focused on what lay before him.

THUMP~ THUMP~

After clearing away all the treasure, Osborne knocked against the exposed ground with his fist, and just like he thought, the ground beneath his sounded somewhat hollow.

Hop~ Hop~ Hop~

This time around the holy sword was hopping in front of his frantically.

" Huh? You’re saying that I should stop what I’m doing?" Osborne said.

Hop~ Hop~ Hop~

The holy sword hopped properly as if saying yes.

" Hehehe." Yet its body stiffened when a grin creeped onto Osborne’s face the next moment.

" Well then, that’s more than enough reason for me to check it out, don’t you?" He said as he reached into his pack and got his shovel.

PANG~!

Osborne stabbed the tip of his shovel down without hesitation, before beginning to dig.

Fortunately for him, the ground wasn’t as hard here as he had expected.

But strangely, the deeper he dug, the more he felt that strange chill that had always been bothering him, growing.

Hop~!

Hop~!!

Hop~!!!

The holy sword tried over and over to get him to stop, but Osborne paid it no head.

It wasn’t that he was trying to get back at it, well maybe a little. But because he knew that there was no longer an option for him to possess the holy sword since it deemed him unworthy of it.

PANG~!

BWUSSHHH!!!!

As if to say he’d finally reached what was done below.

The ground beneath Osborne’s feet suddenly began to cave in.

" Oh shit!" He cursed. Osborne tried to turn and run but it was already too late.

The holy sword on the other hand simply flew into the air.

’ Nooooo!!!!!’ Osborne yelled as he fell into the hole, along with nearby treasures.

*********

" Urrgh..." Osborne groaned as he slowly came to.

Clutching at his head, his eyes groggily opened.

’ Well that certainly hurts a lot.’ Osborne lamented.

After waking up, The first thing he did was take a look at his surroundings.

" Is that a dagger?" Osborne noticed a strange rusted dagger embedded into the ground.

To be fair, the dagger didn’t look much like an actual dagger anymore due to how worn out it was.

" BRRRRR~" The moment he tried taking a step towards it, he felt that familiar chill return.

’ I take it that’s what’s been trying to freeze me to death all this time.’ He said to himself. ’ But, the fact that, that cocky sword wanted to keep me away from it means it mustn’t be a simple weapon.’

His interest piqued, Osborne approached the blade. The cold grew with each step he took, but after staying so many days in the treasury, he’d more or less gotten used to some of it.

WHENG~!

’ What in the?!’ Osborne fell on his ass when something fast flew past him.

The golden blur circled around him a few times before coming to stop in the air in front of him.

Only after it stopped did he realise what it was.

The Holy sword.

" What are you doing here? Come to gloat some more." Osborne muttered as he got back on his feet.

WHENG~!

The sword released a shadow sound as it hovered in front of him.

" You still don’t want me to take that do you." Osborne said.

The sword bobbed in a vertical manner as if nodding.

" Does that mean you’re willing to accept me as your master?"

WHENG~!

The world rapidly swung in a horizontal manner back and forth.

Clearly it had no such intentions.

" Well then if you’re not here to help me, step aside so I can take someone who will." Osborne said as he stepped forward.

But the holy sword refused to budge.

" Look, I don’t have time for these games!" Osborne grumbled.

While the cold wasn’t dangerous to him right now, he knew that constant exposure to it wouldn’t end well.

He tried going left and right but each time the sword would move in his way.

To think a time would come when he’d be at odds with a weapon.

Osborne tried to knock the sword aside but.

VWOOM~!

Just like before, the moment his hand touched it, the holy sword released a pulse of energy that sent him flying back.

THUD

THUD

THUD

After being knocked back several meters, Osborne used both hands to push his upper body off the ground.

At the corner of his lip could be seen trickling blood, and yet, he wiped it with his sleeve and got back up.

He then walked towards the strange dagger again.

WHENG~!

The holy sword released a piercing sword howl again.

This time Osborne stopped in his steps. But not completely.

He bent down and grabbed one of what was once the ceiling he’d fallen through.
