Chapter 269: Healing
Adrian shook away the suspicions in his heart and turned to the current situation, he took out the potion and was about to feed it to the man.
" Wait, won’t using it on one person be a waste? Shouldn’t we find a solution for everyone?" Annie stopped him.
" This is the solution, the potion will create new type of bacteria inside his body which will spread like spores affecting Famine’s domain." He explained.
She nodded, " So then we can save him and everybody else?" She asked excitedly, Adrian sighed.
" We can save everybody else yes but his body will be used as an energy fuel for the growth of the bacteria."
His explanation made her pause, " No wait wait wait, we can’t just kill an innocent man Adrian." She argued.
" Who said he was innocent?" He asked, she froze and was unable to answer that, she really didn’t know if he was a good man or not.
" Listen, I know you’re eager to save everybody and that’s very noble of you, it’s one of the reasons I love you, you’re kind.
But right now, thousands more are dying and we can save them in exchange for the life of one man who looks like a pedophile."
She turned towards him and veins popped on her forehead. " Looks like a pedophile? So you’re telling me you’re condemning a man because he looks like a pedophile?
How the hell does a pedophile even look? Do they have distinct features that just scream pedophile?" She sounded pissed.
" Actually yes they do, listen Annie, we can argue all day and the more we argue, the more die.
That will be on you, how about this, I’ll give you 30 seconds to choose who we’ll kill or I’m using him."
She paused, her eyes landed in the man who was looking at them with terrified eyes, unfortunately he didn’t have the strength to run away.
Annie sighed and took off, Adrian turned towards the man, the poor guy tried to crawl away.
" I don’t know how far you think you’ll get and I really don’t get what your issue is man, what I’m offering you is an honour.
You can save so many lives as long as you just die, you’ll die a hero, I mean nobody will know or give a fuck but you’ll be a hero."
His words seemed to terrify the man even more, he used every bit of strength he had to crawl as fast as he could.
" I’m really not that good with this encouragement stuff, alright 30 seconds are up, congratulations, you just earned the greatest honour in your life."
Just as he grabbed her, Annie came back carrying an unconscious woman whose face was covered in blood.
" Oh, she’s back, aren’t you a lucky fella." He waited for Annie, she dropped the woman on his feet.
" What makes this one deserving of death and not him?" He asked but just looking at Annie’s face, he knew this woman had pissed her off.
" Cannibalism." Annie answered coldly, Adrian shrugged, he didn’t care for the details.
He was just wanted to see what effect the potion would actually have, if he’s wrong and it doesn’t work, they’ll be fucked.
Especially the others, at least he’s learnt a method to absorb esper from the air even though that method was slow.
The rest of the pack would be stuck on their level forever, at least they were immortal and eventually.
Only the pack and other immortal races like vampires would remain. Mortal races would only be left with Demigods.
Adrian woke the woman up, as soon as she saw him she clutched to his leg, her eyes landed on Annie.
She started shaking with fear, " Please, please help me, this..this monster killed my husband and children.
I’ll do anything, I’ll.." she reached for his crotch, Adrian grabbed her and placed his finger on her mouth.
" I’m already taken little one, now drink this." He grabbed her neck choking her. The woman grabbed his arm and struggled.
His eyes turned silver, " It’s been a while since I used this so I might be a little rusty, bear with me alright."
" Open your mouth and drink this." He ordered, Adrian was lying about being a little rusty but it was true that it’s been thousands of years since he used compulsion.
However, compulsion was something that exists in his very blood, he couldn’t lose it nor get rusty no matter how long he doesn’t use it.
The woman opened her mouth, Adrian made sure she was aware. Compulsion had two stages.
The first stage merely controlled body movements but the target would very much be aware of everything.
The second pierced deeper into the consciousness, this is usually used when he want to mess with memories as well.
Targets of this are never aware compulsion had been used on them. Adrian didn’t go that far.
The woman opened her mouth despite the protests of her mind, tears streaked down her face.
Adrian poured the potion in her mouth then closed it. A second later,bher body turned red.
Before either he or Annie could react, her body started crumbling piece by piece. Adrian activated his left eye.
He saw countless blue tiny lifeforms devouring her body and growing in both number and strength.
They were done in less than 3 minutes leaving only an arm. Then those blue lifeforms spread out.
Through his eye, he saw them devouring the very authority of Famine, they spread like a cloud covering vast distances in the blink of an eye.
Some pierced through space time itself using the authority of Famine as a gate and went to Alguard.
Adrian stood up and smiled, " Well, out task is done, let go back." He called the others and opened a gate to Alguard.
Before leaving he looked at the now unconscious man, his body was regenerating and gaining mass again.
The new bacteria or perhaps viruses, he couldn’t tell but they were not just destroying the authority of Famine, they were providing nutrients to those affected by it.
Adrian wondered how Meggie was able to make a potion so powerful and how did she know he would figure out the way it worked.
’ Divinity magic?’ he shook his head, divinity magic was powerful but even he didn’t think it can reach that level.
He left with the others and went back to his castle. The changes were noticed by others in both worlds.
Their reactions were quite different.
