Chapter 300: Rising Conflict
The two of them left the clean-up to the rest of their lineage members, killing such weak Gadra did not interest them.
Then butchers were hired to harvest the hearts of the Gadra who weren’t completely pulverised.
The werewolves could’ve done this themselves but Annie suggested they use this opportunity to create more work.
The population of the city had surged recently as more and more Fayera came seeking shelter.
Most Fayera lived in isolated villages where the esper is very thin and the powerful don’t come along.
However the recent surge in Gadra made the situation terrible for them, these new Gadra ran everywhere.
Whether the esper was thick or thin did not matter, they went and killed everything in their path.
Sitting above them are old races like the shaggathan and the Shegera whose entire purpose is to cause chaos and destruction.
As such, a lot of them retreated to the nearest cities but why would those cities except them.
They brought nothing but more mouths, they were chased away, fortunately for them, Athi’s lineage was well spread out.
They found them and led them here to live a new life, this created a need for many jobs but there was a problem.
This city of theirs was not like the other cities around the Fayara domain, it was modern and made in the style of the cities in the human world.
It was a technological city that most Fayera had never seen nor understand, they had to be taught on how to operate basic machines.
Because they were yet to fully acclimate, they couldn’t find any suitable work here and so this opportunity to harvest hearts was a welcomed suprise to them.
Two days later, Ashley and the other two came back looking rough as if they had just been in a fight.
They went to report to Adrian, " I see, I wonder why Sanchez hasn’t reported anything, she should know by now."
Sanchez was still living in the human world and working as a part time detective, she was also part of Alex’s detective agency.
He dismissed Ashley and the other three, Ashley had brought her girlfriend back from the human world.
The woman looked at everything around her in wonder, especially the castle which appeared to be made of glowing silver crystal.
It looked magical, although she already knew magic and the supernatural were real, it was still hard for her to believe.
Especially when she learnt her partner was over a hundred years old, that one was a bit harder to accept.
Although she was a human, she could live within the castle grounds like the werewolves at Ashley’s place.
" What do you think her plan is?" Annie asked. He knew what she talking about and shrugged.
" That’s for her to figure out, it will get messy when it comes to it though." He replied, " But we have our own things to deal with."
He carried her to their bedroom to continue their conversation. Two days went by and he received another call from Athi.
" It seems more Gadra are coming this way, this time, there are 8 level 7 Gadra leading them."
Annie sighed, " The dark esper in the air is growing rapidly now, it’s natural for Gadra waves to surge."
-----------------------------------------------
Somewhere in Alguard stood a tree whose bark glowed with golden light and leaves glowing with golden veins.
Atop this tree was a palace of wood and flowers, the palace’s roof was made of green vines decorated with colourful flowers.
The vines ran on the corners of the palace like colourful snakes giving the palace a magical look.
Inside it sat two people opposite each other, they had long golden hair, green eyes and a skin with a shade of gold.
Their ears were long and pointed and both stood at a height of more than 2 metres with slim figures.
These two were the rulers and Demigods of the elven race. They looked down at the forest below which stretched for as far as the eye could see.
" The dark esper is growing in the air sister, I’m afraid it won’t be long before the calamity of old comes once more." Said one of them.
" The dark esper has been growing since the birth of that child, it started slow with a few Shaggathan nests waking from hibernation.
Over the years it just continued growing until it reached the point of the seals breaking lose.
And now, almost all the Gadra are effected by it, old races are awakening one after another.
It is no suprise though brother because you are right, the calamity of old is soon to come again.
However we are prepared this time, the world might be weaker but we are wiser, we will use the Axiom as our shields and swords.
When the being they protect rises, the path to Godhood shall be open once more and we will gaze upon the glory of our ancestors.
You will finally achieve what you could not so many years ago." The woman replied and took a sip of her fruit juice.
The man sighed, thinking back to his failure he felt a pang of pain, he had once tried to create a divine realm and reach Godhood.
Unfortunately his foundation was not strong enough, his will was not powerful enough and he lacked legends.
He failed to break the limits and had to rest for thousands of years recuperating, unfortunately the old war came soon after.
It lasted nearly a hundred years, the last Gods fell back then and the path to Godhood was cut somehow.
And now, he could see that hope again. "How many of our people do you think will perish in the upcoming conflict?" He asked.
" Do not be faint of heart brother, it is worth it, we will preserve the blood of our people, as long we reach Godhood, the elves shall never perish.
However if we fail, then extinction is inevitable, not just for us but everything, the mortal world shall fall but I have hope." She replied.
" Why?" He asked, " We don’t know much about the Axiom, Anyx might be right, this could all be a trap, including the records, they might be a deliberate lure so why have so much hope?" He asked.
She sighed, " To tell the truth brother, I am afraid, without that man, facing the last of the horseman is....
You were slumbering back then, you did not see what I saw, I am very afraid brother so I must have hope, to keep myself from falling apart I must, I’m sure it’s the same for others."
---------------------------------------------
In Alfheim, a massive figure clad in black armour appeared from a swirl of darkness that rose from the ground.
" Not long now." The figure whispered in a low growl and looked at the glowing crystal orb in their hand.
