Chapter 298: Yokai
" Be careful though, don’t let the weather g touch your head or it will possess you instead."
They all nodded, the three werewolves took their battle stances alongside the two Espara.
An unusual combo, Ashley looked at Bella, " Go, things are about to go bad, I’m not sure I can protect you."
Bella nodded and took off, the Sapienta went to address the cops, they don’t know what he said but the police took action.
They evacuated everybody as fast as they could before the Yokai decided to act, then they faced it.
It stood there unmoving, the black hair stretched out around the woman like snakes making it look terrifying.
But it still did not attack confusing the five of them. Then the hair lashed out stretching for metres.
It shattered glass of a nearby store and pulled out dozens of wigs. " Damnit stop it!" The Sapienta shouted.
The winged Espara was the first to attack, she waved her wings at the Yokai sending blades of feathers like arrows.
The feathers flew faster than bullets and in a blink of an eye they were before the Yokai about to pierce it through.
The black air twisted around the host forming a cocoon of hair. Clang clang clang, the sound of clashing metal echoed around them.
The feathers bounced off the cocoon, the Espara summoned them back and merged them back with the rest of her wings.
Then she flew to the sky, " It’s strong, my blades aren’t strong enough!" She shouted from hundreds of meters above.
The Yokai dragged the wigs to the head of the host, the mess of hair opened up revealing a large terrifying mouth.
It devoured them one after another, before their eyes the hair gained luster with each wig it ate.
It was growing stronger and they had no plans to let it continue. Tony attacked, he was from Sam’s lineage.
Their lineage mostly used either shields or heavy weapons. His weapon was a flail, he swung the heavy metal ball at the Yokai.
The silver spikes ball expanded in the air and descended on the Yokai’s head like a falling meteor.
Ribbons of black hair flew up to meet the spiked ball head on. The clash cracked the ground beneath the Yokai.
A powerful shockwave spread out shattering windows and cracking the surrounding buildings.
In the meantime, the two Espara rushed to the surrounding buildings rescuing those who were still stuck inside.
At level 4, they could move dozens of times faster than sound, even though they couldn’t use their full speed.
They still rescued multiple people in a short span of time, before long the surrounding 5 kilometres were free of anybody.
They could fight freely as long as they kept the battle within this space, unfortunately not everybody thought the same.
More police cars showed up, secret services as well as soldiers. This forced the Sapienta to go talk to them again.
The werewolves still had no idea what he was telling them nor did they care. " I’ll be back."
Ashley told them, she grabbed the running Bella and ran off faster than any car Bella had ever ridden.
Toby and Mandla were left to face th Yokai by themselves. After blocking Toby’s attack, it stopped being on the defence.
Hairs lunged at Tony like sharp ribbons, he rapidly spun his flair in front of him creating a barrier.
" I underestimated it." The force sent him flying dozens of metres away, he broke through a wall causing the entire building to collapse on him.
Mandla’s claws glowed with blinding silver light, he swung his arm sending three crescent blades of lunar esper.
He was from Sbu’s lineage which had mid range abilities and weapons type abilities, he had the mid range flying claw blades.
He couldn’t shoot them beyond the 50 metres range but they were fast and sharp. They cut the hair whips flying at him but more and more kept coming.
" Does this thing have endless hair!" He shouted, his arms blurred and he fired hundreds of claws in a single second.
Whips of twisted hair forming drill like tips flew at him like serpents snaking through his rain of claws.
Mandla was being overwhelmed. " In a sense yes, as a spirit it has endless esper and can constantly create more hair." The Sapienta answered.
" Endless esper? Wouldn’t that make it infinitely more powerful?" Ashley asked as he descended from the sky with an exe kick.
The Yokai blocked her kick with a shield of hair, the road shattered forming a craters dozens of metres wide.
The buildings next to the road could no longer hold on and crumbled on themselves like sand castles.
Ashley retreated and stood next to Mandla, the Sapienta appeared behind them. " Not quite. Its output depends on the strength of its host.
It might have an endless supply of esper but it can’t use it all at once, its host appears to be a normal human.
She probably put it on thinking its a wig, if it possesses any of us, its energy output will grow accordingly.
It will impossible to stop, at least to those at our level so be really careful." After saying that he retreated.
The three werewolves and the winged Espara faced the Yokai and surrounded it. Ashley attacked.
As a member of Brad’s lineages, her ability was born from his second ability to master martial arts.
However unlike him, she couldn’t learn any martial arts she saw, she still had to train, her ability was different.
While she couldn’t master martial instantly and had to learn it like everybody else, she could transform any martial arts she learnt to a supernatural version of itself.
And over the years she’s mastered many martial arts. She took a fighting stance then lunged.
The ground cracked beneath her feet and her body turned into a blur, the Yokai stabbed whips of it hair at her.
Ashley took a step to the side dodging the attack, the hair stabbed in the ground shattering the hard stone.
Ashley jumped, spinning like hurricane she sent a swiping kick at the hair, " Elephant Trunk!" She shouted.
The sound of an elephant followed her kick increasing its power. However her foot bounced off the hair.
She did a back flip dodging more hair whips and retreated. " You need to use sharp attacks to cut the hair, blunt force won’t work!" The Sapienta member told them.
" That could’ve been very useful before I wasted my time!" She shot back.
