Another two years went by without much disturbance in the world. Adrian looked up and frowned.

The world’s esper is getting darker, trouble might be coming soon, as if on que, Athi sent a message.

A wall had broken between Alguard and one of the wilderness and a bunch of Gadra were coming through.

Adrian informed Annie who just sighed, " Bred, Sbu, strengthen the patrol on the borders.

Sam, you also need to maintain vigilance, Melissa will join the border patrol, we can’t let them her through."

She doubted they would come here, after all the ambient esper was too thin although it was increasing.

They had planted a certain species of trees that breathe out pure esper instead of oxygen like other trees.

Having been watered using Adrian’s undiluted blood, the tree had grown faster and stronger than others.

While the ambient esper wasn’t thick enough to support the existence of a level 7 or above Gadra.

Multiple level 6 Gadra could stay here just fine, in a few more years it might get thick enough to support even level 8 Gadra.

They all knew the trees alone weren’t capable of this otherwise they would’ve been planted everywhere.

Adrian’s blood was the main contributor to this, it evolved the trees, they don’t just absorb carbon dioxide anymore.

They absorb moonlight itself and convert it to pure esper, although the esper had a bit of lunar esper to it.

Annie sent out orders, the werewolves went into action fortifying their borders, this drew the attention of their citizens and mercenaries.

A few days later, multiple missions were posted in the guild giving the bored mercenaries something to do.

Most missions involved defending a place against a Gadra wave and the rewards were really good.

But those missions were equally dangerous with very high chances of death which brought another wave of profit for the pack and the witches.

The mercenaries bought many potions that could save their lives, from healing to detoxifying potions.

Still the mercenaries were really happy, being a mercenary was a profitable profession.

Some of them have even managed to reach higher levels because of it. Adrian sent a pack call to Athi.

She and her lineage were to keep watch on the movement of the Gadra waves and report if they come close to the pack grounds.

-------------------------------------------------

In the human world.

It’s been a year since she came back and fortunately she found Bella, she was traumatised but still alive.

It took Ashley a long time to be able to explain what had happened and slowly they were rebuilding their relationship.

But things were still strained, it was clear Bella was still scared of her. Ashley reached for her hand and Bella instinctively flinched.

She realised what she had done and apologised but Ashley slimed bitterly, " It’s fine, I understand."

Suddenly Ashley stopped and sniffed the air which confused Bella. Then Ashley growled like a beast.

Bella found herself taking a step back with her body shivering from fear. Two men descended from the sky and landed next to them.

It was Toby and Mandla, the one who owned a club. Like Ashley they had chosen to join the pack and carry out the duties of their lineage.

But they got some free time every month and would come here, tonight was their free day.

" You can feel that?" Toby asked and the other two nodded.

" I suggest you get your pretty girlfriend out of here Ashley, she might not like to see what’s about to happen."

Bella was very confused now, suddenly the air split, its edges looked like receding mist, before she could register what’s happening a hand appeared.

Then another, they grabbed the edges of the rift in the air and split it apart. This happened in the middle of the road.

Fortunately it was late at night and not many cars were on the road, everybody stood around and watched curiously.

A flap of wings appeared from above and a young woman landed in front of this opening rift.

" All of you, get out of her right now!" She shouted but everybody stared at her wide eyes.

" Do..does she have wings?" One man asked skeptically, nobody answered him as they all couldn’t understand what’s happening.

" Man, removing so many memories will be troublesome." They heard her whisper but they still couldn’t understand anything.

Police cars pulled up and pointed guns at the winged woman, she didn’t care, she noticed the three werewolves.

She recognised Ashley, " You, what are you doing here? Is this your doing?" She pointed at the rift.

Ashley sighed, " No, that’s not my doing, I don’t know what’s happening here either." She answered.

Then something jumped off the shadows near them, it was a werewolf form Athi’s lineage.

" I’m here to inform you, the pack might be going to war soon, you should prepare yourself."

" Why didn’t you just use pack call, there was no need for you to come here personally was there?" Tony asked.

The werewolf shrugged, " I was told to deliver the news personally, don’t ask me the reason."

Before they could say anything, the werewolf was already gone having disappeared into the shadows again.

The rift expanded more and more and a foot came out, it was thin and white like the hands, then out came a head.

It was covered in long black hair that hid the face, the rest of the body came out, it was a woman with long black hair.

Her body was hunched and she was covered in long dirty clothes that reached her ankles.

The woman’s face could not be seen, the hair almost covered her entire body. " What the hell is that?" The winged woman asked.

" It’s a Yokai, a cursed object that gained consciousness and became a spirit of sort." A voice answered them.

They turned and saw a woman with glasses and golden eyes walking towards them. " A Sapienta, I didn’t expect one of you to come to a battlefield." Said Tony.

" Not all of us prefer sitting behind a desk, some of us like to take action personally."

" Can you explain more about this thing? Is it a dead spirit?" Ashley asked.

" No, like I said, it’s a Yokai, an object that gained consciousness after absorbing too much dark esper. This one is called a Wiggen."

" Alright, how do we take it down?" Tony asked.

" Yokai are usually quite weak without a host, remove it from its host and it loses its power, in this case, take the wig off."
