Chapter 296: Painful Sentence
The two of them went around the human world getting all the rogue werewolves there before going to Alguard.
It took them a few days but they retrieved all the rogue werewolves then went back to his castle.
At the depths of the castle below even the library sat a completely dark space, all the rogue werewolves were here.
They got terrified as soon as he showed up but Adrian no longer looked as pissed as he was before.
" Congratulations, I’ve been convinced to give you a lighter sentence, than your queen for that, I would’ve killed you."
They believed him immediately because they could tell he was not joking, he really was going to kill them.
" My blood, my power is not a charity given to you to do as you see fit, I gave you freedom.
All I asked in return was that you come to the aid of the pack when need be but when your alpha called upon you, where were you?"
His question hung in the air, the other members of the pack had arrived as well to watch the trial.
The werewolves in judgment didn’t answer, they didn’t know how to answer because every answer felt wrong.
Adrian sighed, " You’ve betrayed the pack but I’ll leave your judgment to her." He looked at Annie and took a step back.
He knew she would be more lenient than him, he was afraid he might go overboard and even scare the other werewolves.
Annie stood before them, " I’m going to give you two choices. One, you’ll spend two hundred years here as prisoners.
Two, you’ll a spend a year but your veins will be injected with liquid silver, it won’t reach your brain or heart so you’ll live but you’ll be in extreme agony.
After each sentence, you’ll be free to go live your life away from the pack as you’ll no longer be members of the pack.
However you are werewolves, the power you have is not yours nor is it free so when at war, the pack will still call upon you."
One of them stood up, " Forgive me Alpha but that doesn’t sound fair, if we’re no longer members of the pack then surely we won’t receive any benefits from the pack.
So why should we still have to risk our lives for the pack if we’re no longer pack members?"
As soon as that question was asked, the room got colder, multiple auras climbed causing the entire underground space to shake.
They did not just come from the werewolves standing behind Adrian but those standing for trial as well.
Adrian could tell they were all still loyal to him in their own way. One of them stood up and glared at the first guy with cold eyes.
Then she turned towards Annie, " My lady, I do not mind serving the pack, my loyalty has always been with the pack.
I’m grateful for what lord Adrian gave me, the power, the immortality, all of it, all I ask is that we be treated fairly.
It’s hard to watch new members getting ranked up instantly and suddenly be higher than us who’ve served the pack for years.
I know they’re your friends and family and will naturally get preferential treatment but it still makes us feel like the pack does not value us."
" You’re free to do the same." Adrian answered, they turned their eyes towards him.
" You’re complaining about preferential treatment? That is their right they earned with their strength and loyalty.
If you serve the pack loyally, if you accumulate enough contribution points you could rank up.
Then you could choose who you rank up and who you turn at will, that will be your right even I will deny you.
You know what’s funny, most of you had served the pack for years as you claimed and you had accumulated many contribution points.
Had you not betrayed the pack, you would be Gemma by now and not far from ranking up either."
He was telling the truth, even amongst those who recently ranked up to Gemma, they had spare contribution points putting them halfway to Delta.
As for the Delta members, they were the oldest members besides Adrian, their contribution points were staggering.
Unfortunately the required points to reach Beta were way too high, even they would need years to accumulate that much.
As for alpha, Adrian had made it abundantly clear to them, there were not enough contribution points for that.
It would have to be a special case for him to make another werewolf an equal to how mate.
Was it fair? He didn’t think so but it was his authority born from his strength and that was the message he was sending.
Strength can grant special privileges as long as they don’t involve harming other members of the pack.
If they wanted such privileges, they were free to gather contribution points and rank up themselves.
It seemed they understood but that didn’t mean they were content, they understood how hard ranking up was.
The required contribution points were a bit too high. Annie clapped her hands drawing their attention.
" That might be discussed later but it doesn’t change your disobedience, so choose your sentence."
The choice was very simple, werewolves didn’t fear pain as long as they wouldn’t die but 200 years was too long.
Some still had friends they made in their time who definitely won’t be alive in 200 years.
Ashley walked forward and went on her knees, " I’m willing to serve the pack again, please allow me to."
Annie looked down at her and sighed, she could see Ashley’s reasoning, " Fine, if you wish to rejoin the pack you can buy you’ll have to work harder."
Ashley nodded, their sentence was carried out. They were bound to the wall with silver chains.
Their blood veins were blocked from reaching any of the organs. This would be a death sentence to other lifeforms.
But to immortals like them, it was just an uncomfortable inconvenience. The real pain came after.
They were injected with a syringe of liquid silver on each limb to make sure it reaches most parts of their bodies since their blood flow was cut off.
Screams of agony followed after as the liquid silver burnt their bodies from the inside.
Members of Sam’s lineage were left to guard them to make sure nothing goes wrong, they didn’t want any of them to die after all.
