Chapter 1421 - 921: Kiss
Hearing that, Wang Yuhe was stunned for a moment too.
"Not yet."
First, it was still early, she hadn’t thought of it. Second, she’d been having too much fun at the arcade and only just reacted now.
"Then don’t tell her," Jiang Nian said casually. "We’ve only been out for a bit anyway, I’ll send you back now."
Better not bring it up.
Wang Yuhe didn’t really get it, so she could only nod along.
"Oh, oh, okay."
The car drove onto a street, and Jiang Nian parked and reminded her, "I’m gonna buy something, don’t get out and run around."
"I’m not a kid, I wouldn’t run around," Wang Yuhe was a little annoyed, frowning as she glared at him.
"I’m just worried about the what‑ifs." Jiang Nian shut the door with a bang, then headed toward the shop.
Inside the car, Wang Yuhe was bored out of her mind.
She touched the half‑open car window, thinking if it were sealed all the way and Jiang Nian didn’t come back, would she suffocate to death.
Click—the car door could be pushed open.
Okay then.
Wang Yuhe pulled out her phone, hesitating over whether to tell Yunyun. She just felt like hiding it wasn’t quite right.
So she came clean and told her everything.
As she was typing, she thought if Jiang Nian saw this, that petty guy would probably be pissed half to death.
After a while, Chen Yunyun replied.
"On your way back?"
"Yeah."
"Okay."
A bit later, Jiang Nian came back. He was carrying a bunch of stuff and walked around to the passenger side.
"This bag is cut fruit, for you and your roommates."
"This bag is desserts."
As he spoke, he shoved the two bags into Wang Yuhe’s arms. "Remember, if you can’t finish it, just throw it away, don’t keep it."
"It’ll go bad overnight, you’ll get a stomachache."
"Oh, oh." Wang Yuhe nodded. Jiang Nian explained everything in detail, so she didn’t have to think much. "Got it."
"And the other bag is for Yunyun?"
"Yeah."
Jiang Nian answered, one foot braced on the edge of the passenger door, then crooked his finger at her.
"Come here a sec, I’ll share one with you."
"Share what?"
Confused, Wang Yuhe took the gummy. She’d bought snacks from this brand before, so she popped it straight into her mouth.
It was soft going in, and white peach flavor bloomed on the tip of her tongue.
The next second, she hadn’t even processed it yet before her mouth was blocked. Jiang Nian tilted his head and sealed her lips.
He leaned in, and the rich white peach flavor split in two.
Wang Yuhe’s eyes flew wide open, her face full of disbelief. A bolt of lightning flashed through her brain, and her whole body froze.
White peach. White peach.
So soft.
She blinked, but couldn’t really think. A comfy feeling rushed up from the soles of her feet all the way to her head.
Her lashes fluttered, then obediently drooped down.
As the peach sweetness faded with time, it was replaced by a faint sweetness with a bit of tingling.
A pleasant feeling spread from the back of her head, crashing over her like waves. She couldn’t think of anything at all; her mind went blank.
It was like the car disappeared, the street disappeared too. The whole world turned blank, leaving only the two of them.
Good thing she was in the passenger seat—didn’t matter if her legs went weak.
After a long while, they finally parted.
Jiang Nian’s eyes were smiling as he glanced at Wang Yuhe, already bracing himself for her to get mad, or start swinging at him.
But all Wang Yuhe did was cover her face. Her cheeks, visibly, were like someone had blown on burning charcoal.
Whoosh—instantly flushing hot and red.
"Don’t look at me, it’s so embarrassing."
Jiang Nian was amused, but he didn’t keep teasing her. Ignoring the people around them, he turned and went back to the driver’s seat.
With a bang, the car door closed.
"Let’s head back to campus."
"Mm." Wang Yuhe peeked at him, then hurried to buckle her seat belt. "Oh, right, Jiang Nian."
"Yeah?"
"Just now, I really liked you."
Jiang Nian: "???"
What do you mean ’just now’? So taking you out for dinner and fun, the whole all‑inclusive combo, doesn’t earn me even a tiny bit of ’like’, huh?
He complained in his head, but out loud he still said,
"Me too."
"When we get back, you know how to explain things to Chen Yunyun, right?" Jiang Nian remembered and added another question.
"I know." Wang Yuhe frowned, fired up her brain cells and thought about it. "I’ll just say we didn’t do anything."
Jiang Nian: "...."
Damn, isn’t that just making it more suspicious?
"Don’t say it like that."
"Huh?"
"Being honest is better than that. The way you put it makes it sound like I practically died out there." Jiang Nian grumbled twice and lightly stepped on the gas.
"No, I don’t want you to die."
"Why not?"
"Because kissing feels really good."
....
Late May.
More and more people were out taking graduation photos. Jiang Nian was still shuttling between work and school.
Whenever he had time, he’d go bother the class rep a bit.
But Li Qingrong was clearly busier than Jiang Nian. Ever since they’d "worked on their chemistry" for that half month last time, they hadn’t seen each other again until another half month later.
Hmm.....
Jiang Nian fell into thought. No way, right? It hadn’t felt that intense. It was just normal ’getting used to each other’.
Anyway, he didn’t see Li Qingrong again until late May.
In a café.
Qingqing still looked the same, brows and eyes cool. Her skin was so fair it almost glowed, and her overall color looked a lot better.
Not so haggard anymore, with a hint more serenity.
"I’ve been taking care of my health lately."
Jiang Nian: "???"
"Uh, what did the doctor say?" He started, stopped, then still asked, "Is it... because of last time?"
"Mm." Li Qingrong nodded. "He said I’m a bit drained, told me to take it easy. Once I finish recovering it’ll be fine."
Jiang Nian: "..."
Seriously?
But then he thought about it. He’d basically never had a precedent for not switching partners and ’working on chemistry’ continuously for half a month.
Good thing they’re young. He should take it as a warning.
"Yeah, we should definitely take it easy." Jiang Nian felt a bit embarrassed. "That’s on me, for not stopping in time."
"It’s not your fault." Li Qingrong’s expression didn’t change much as she sipped her coffee. "I was the one who insisted."
"All right then."
Jiang Nian thought for a bit and changed the subject. "Are you staying in Beijing over summer break to keep your sister company too?"
"Mm, why?"
