Chapter 2905 - 95: Matchmaking
Downstairs, Harrison Lucas quickly tidied his hair and the clothes on his body before going to open the door.
Who could be ringing the doorbell so urgently this early in the morning?
Harrison Lucas found it strange, pulled open the door, and saw Commander Nelson standing behind it with a serious expression.
"Good morning, Commander!" Harrison Lucas quickly stood at attention and saluted.
Commander Nelson’s face tightened, nodding with seemingly some disapproval.
Harrison Lucas dared not ask further, only stood at the door with eyes watching nose and mind focussing inward, waiting for the senior leader’s next instructions.
Commander Nelson: "Harrison Lucas, aren’t you going to invite us in?"
’Us’?
Upon hearing Commander Nelson’s words, Harrison Lucas glanced sideways and noticed someone hiding behind him.
Commander Nelson stepped forward slightly, revealing half of the person’s face, and Harrison Lucas finally saw that hiding behind him was Jennifer Connor, looking shy.
Harrison Lucas: ...
"Commander, this is..."
"What, not welcoming us?" The senior leader blew his beard and glared, deliberately asking.
Of course, Harrison Lucas didn’t dare; she promptly stepped back two steps without asking further and invited the senior leader inside.
Commander Nelson nodded and casually said, "I’m here to inspect Major General Lucas’s daily life, no need for special treatment... Jennifer is a guest, you should take good care of her."
Jennifer Connor, following behind Commander Nelson, heard this obvious hint and her lips curled slightly, becoming even more shy.
The young lady who was particularly proud yesterday, now appeared to Harrison Lucas like a little quail, shyly lowering her head and secretly smiled.
She had spent all day yesterday coaxing and pestering Commander Nelson, with sweet talk and pleading, and finally managed to get him to agree to act as her matchmaker.
Although matchmaking is already out of fashion in this era.
But in the army, the leader’s words still hold weight. Jennifer Connor is Mr. Connor’s granddaughter, even though Mr. Connor always argues with Commander Nelson and likes to bicker.
However, they were truly comrades-in-arms who had gone through life and death together.
Commander Nelson loved to subtly take advantage of the opponent verbally, but in his heart, he actually cherished Jennifer Connor as his own grandchild.
Seeing that Jennifer Connor really fancied Harrison Lucas, a young man whom he valued highly as one of his students, and having stayed in the army where the gender ratio is severely imbalanced until now without having had a girlfriend.
Commander Nelson was naturally anxious too.
After Jennifer Connor spent an entire day sweet-talking him, Commander Nelson finally agreed to personally act as the matchmaker for this ’beloved student’.
However, upon hearing Commander Nelson say he was there to inspect Ben Lucas’s life and seeing him boldly head upstairs as if initiating a ’surprise action’.
She was so scared that she disregarded Jennifer Connor and swiftly blocked the staircase.
Harrison Lucas: "Commander, Major General hasn’t woken up yet... Please wait a moment, I’ll go upstairs to call him."
"It’s already this time, and that Ben Lucas kid still isn’t up?" Little did they know these words annoyed Commander Nelson, who frowned, and the senior leader said, "How is he doing military service, even during a holiday, laziness is unacceptable. It’s almost 8 o’clock now, how can he still be sleeping at this hour? Stand aside, I will personally go up and wake him!"
Commander Nelson had no idea about Ben Lucas’s ordeal last night.
Because he held the soft, warm body of Harrison Lucas in his arms and stubbornly fought the urge, staying awake until near dawn before falling asleep.
If it weren’t for this, the always punctual Major General, how could he possibly stay in bed?
Harrison Lucas did not know the reason, but she knew, no matter what, she must not let Commander Nelson find out Ben Lucas slept in her room on the second floor last night.
"Reporting, Commander, Harrison Lucas is unable to follow your orders. If you really need to punish, just punish Harrison Lucas. After all, Major General ordered that no one is allowed upstairs without his permission!"
