Chapter 401 - 339: Gourmet Attack? (Part 2)
The child chuckled, not hesitating any longer, and started eating.
Interrupted by this child, the other children all turned to look at Brother Dog.
They didn’t dare snatch any more. If Brother Dog ended up with no hamburger, they would all be done for.
Brother Dog ignored them and instead looked at Wen Ying. "Human woman! I can help you open the door, but you need to give each of the rest of us one of these super-sized hamburgers!"
Wen Ying agreed.
Only then was Brother Dog satisfied. He eyed Wen Ying appraisingly and lowered his voice. "Those two old geezers have terrible tempers. One time, I snuck into their room and they caught me. They nearly twisted my head off. But that was also when I discovered they’re a pair of old gluttons!"
Brother Dog sounded rather proud as he said this.
None of the other children knew about this. Only he did!
He had nearly lost his head that time, but he had also seen the secret of those two old fiends!
"And then?"
Hearing this, the other children grew curious as well. After all, those two old geezers almost never left their room. The children often roamed around the third floor but had rarely ever seen them.
It was only natural to be curious when there was gossip to be heard.
’Is this a weakness common to all living things?’
"The two of them got a package of something called instant noodles from somewhere, and they locked themselves in their room and started fighting over it, just to get one more bite! That stuff seems to be from your human world too! It came in a cup as big as a hamburger, and the smell was incredible!"
Brother Dog recalled the scene and swallowed involuntarily.
’Is that stuff called instant noodles tastier than a hamburger?’
’I wonder just how delicious it is!’
"Did you accidentally knock over their instant noodles and get on their blacklist?"
"How did you know?" Brother Dog looked at Wen Ying in astonishment. ’How could this human know about something so secret!’
Besides those two old fiends and himself, no one else knew about this!
After all, after knocking it over, he had personally witnessed the two old geezers do... disgusting things... just to get the noodles that had spilled on the floor.
If word of this really got out, he would probably "disappear" from the mental hospital!
That’s why Brother Dog had always kept it a secret and never spoken of it.
"Want some instant noodles?"
"Yes!" But after only two seconds, Brother Dog continued, "Which is tastier, the hamburger or the instant noodles?"
Wen Ying pointed at the hamburger in front of him, the answer self-evident.
Brother Dog looked at the hamburger with a conflicted expression, his mind flashing back to the unforgettable scene from that day.
’Which one should I choose?’
Wen Ying, however, was thinking about the "gluttons" Brother Dog had mentioned. ’Could she use food to get them to open the door?’
The hamburger smelled good, but the aroma didn’t travel far. You had to see the thing with your own eyes to start craving it.
The same went for instant noodles.
’So what kind of food has a smell powerful enough to get through a door?’
"I’ll take the hamburger! I’ll save the instant noodles for next time!" Brother Dog seemed certain that this human would need them again in the future.
As for how much delicious food this human had, he didn’t know, nor had he thought about it.
Anyway, as long as she could produce it, that was good enough.
After saying their piece, the children started to eat, not caring whether Wen Ying had come up with a plan or not.
Such a huge hamburger, and it even came with a cheese durian pancake and a glass of lime and kumquat juice.
Even though they weren’t human, their bellies were stuffed.
They were truly full!
"Human, seeing as you gave us so much good food today, we’ll let you off the hook!"
With that, the children turned and left, seemingly without a second thought.
They were probably just that full.
No matter how delicious the food, a stomach has its limits.
But just as they reached the corner and were about to turn, they saw the human woman take out... a Da Guo?
What a huge pot!
It was just that its shape was a little... strange.
The inside of the pot was divided into four sections. The children, who had been about to leave, hid around the corner again, wanting to see what tricks this human was up to.
’Is she going to cook something to eat right here?’
As they watched curiously, the human woman took out more and more things.
Several of them were green vegetables, which they recognized.
But after the vegetables came transparent boxes, one after another, each filled with different things.
’Do those things look a bit like meat?’
’But they don’t look quite like meat. They’re too thin!’
They had never seen meat that thin before, so they concluded it probably wasn’t meat.
’What on earth could it be?’
Each one was rolled up. As they watched, a strange craving began to stir, as if something was about to wriggle its way out of their full stomachs.
