Everyone watched with wide eyes. In any case, they weren’t the one about to die.

The sharp knife was aimed at the man’s heart. *Tss!*

Everyone’s hearts were in their throats. They watched, torn between excitement and fear, unsure if they wanted the peace charm to work or not.

Their feelings were a tangled mess.

The man holding the knife suddenly scowled. The blade had torn through the other man’s clothes, but it refused to go any further.

It felt as if some immense force was blocking his attack.

Even when he put all his strength into it, the blade wouldn’t move forward one iota.

The attacker’s face began to flush. "I can’t move it! It’s blocked! Is anyone willing to lend me a hand?"

A second man grabbed his wrist and they both pushed, but it still wouldn’t budge.

It was as if an invisible barrier separated the knife from the man’s body.

The blade, sharp enough to cut iron like clay, couldn’t advance in the slightest.

Large beads of sweat dripped from their foreheads.

When the man being attacked saw them thrust the blade toward his heart, he thought he was going to die.

But to his surprise, the blade—one he’d personally seen pierce a block of iron—stopped dead the moment it touched his clothes.

He didn’t feel the slightest bit of pain.

It wasn’t because they were showing mercy. He knew perfectly well that in this situation, they wouldn’t hesitate to kill him.

’Then it can only mean one thing... this talisman paper from the woman from Flower Country actually works!’

’Flower Country... what a truly mysterious nation.’

Finally, with their arms too sore and tired to even lift, the two men gave up.

"This peace charm really works!" everyone muttered, quickly hiding the talisman paper in their hands deep in their pockets.

This thing was an extra life!

In a place like this, how many people would kill for an extra life?

Even though they were teammates, human nature is notoriously weak when put to the test.

Who wouldn’t want a few extra lives?

The seeds of fear and suspicion had been sown in their hearts.

The soaking wet man plopped onto the ground, overcome with the feeling of having narrowly escaped death.

’This woman from Flower Country seems more reliable than any of them... too bad they’d made the wrong move.’

"We’re even now," Wen Ying said, looking at them.

"Little Tiger, let’s go."

Wen Ying turned and walked away, Little Tiger trailing behind her.

[So Doctor Wen ended up just naming Little Tiger... ’Little Tiger’?]

[Weren’t they taking suggestions? She decided that fast?]

[Why isn’t Little Tiger putting up a fight? Don’t you think that name is awful?]

[Doctor Wen is chronically bad at naming things!]

The little tiger now known as Little Tiger, however, had no such messy thoughts. A name wasn’t very important to him, anyway.

Being able to follow his master was the most important thing.

It was a classic case of the spectators being more anxious than the person involved.

After leaving the basement, Wen Ying decided to find the head nurse. After all, if she wanted to find the Director, she couldn’t do it without getting past the head nurse.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

The door swung open on its own.

Wen Ying saw the head nurse sitting at her desk. Her gaze was cold as she looked at her. "Human, what do you want now?"

"I’ve met the requirements for good reviews and the satisfaction rating on the third floor. That counts as completing the mission, right?" Wen Ying said with a cheeky grin.

The head nurse snorted and continued to stare at her.

"If you have no other business, get out!"

"Not so fast, Head Nurse. I’ve always had a question for you. You’re a beautiful Spider Demon, and your son is a cockroach monster... so, who is his father?"

The head nurse’s expression clearly became agitated when Wen Ying mentioned the cockroach monster.

"Human! Are you trying to provoke me?! You killed my son, and you still dare to run your mouth in front of me! Do you think I won’t kill you?"

"It’s not that you won’t. It’s that you can’t," Wen Ying said lightly.

The head nurse immediately seemed to deflate.

’She couldn’t beat this human woman.’

"Actually, you don’t have to act so angry. Do you really love your son?"

The head nurse’s gaze was like a blade of ice, aimed squarely at Wen Ying.

"If you really loved your son, you wouldn’t have only seen him a handful of times over all these years. You hate him too, don’t you? You think he’s a monster. You think he’s unworthy of being your son. That’s why after I killed him, you only tried to avenge him out of some sense of obligation. The moment you realized you couldn’t beat me, you gave up."

"Do you even know what a mother’s love is? A mother’s love means protecting your child even if it costs you your own life. It means crossing mountains and rivers just to see them, even if they’re a world away. It’s not being right next door and still ignoring them completely."
