The door opened.

Little White was crouched in a corner, shivering as she hugged her head, looking as if she’d had a terrible fright.

To any onlooker, she looked absolutely pitiful.

No one knew what could have happened to such an adorable little girl. It was just too tragic.

So, a staff member immediately rushed to protect Little White. "It’s okay, little girl, don’t be afraid. No one is going to hurt you."

With red-rimmed eyes, Little White nodded and then lowered her head.

’She was afraid she’d burst out laughing.’

’Who knew acting felt this good?’

’No wonder so many people want to be actors every year.’

The little boy stood off to one side, soaking wet, his clothes still dripping water onto the floor.

The floor was also soaked, but aside from the water, there were no other traces.

The little boy blinked. ’He didn’t understand why everyone was comforting the older girl, while he stood there, soaking wet, with no one coming to check on him.’

"Kid, did you bully her?"

The little boy looked over at Little White, who was being pointed at. ’Me? Bully her?’

’At first, he thought she was just an ordinary pretty girl. But what kind of ordinary person would remain completely unfazed while watching him take care of those two human traffickers?’

’She was as calm as if she were watching a cartoon.’

’And what kind of ordinary person could just grab him and slam him against the wall, again and again?’

’Just a moment ago, he’d nearly lost all strength to fight back.’

’He was a ghost, for crying out loud!’

’Granted, he was only a newly-manifested, low-level ghost.’

’But this girl who looked so delicate and pitiful... she wasn’t human at all!’

The little boy said nothing, but he was taken away anyway, along with his grandfather.

The grandfather, now awake, was crying and making a scene. He insisted his grandson must have been tricked and that he could never hurt a little girl, especially one who was older than him.

Meanwhile, "poor" Little White hid behind the staff member, trembling. "Miss, I-I think I saw a monster... that... that thing..." She let out a choked hiccup as she spoke. "There was a man and a woman, too... but I don’t know what happened. They followed him in, and then they just... disappeared. They really disappeared! *Sob...* I’m so scared... *sob sob*..."

Although her words were jumbled from fear, the staff managed to piece together the gist of what had happened.

Two adults had gone into the restroom with them. Where could they have gone?

Wen Ying and Kong Jian sat in their seats like detached observers, watching the scene unfold. They could see Little White’s body trembling slightly, not from fear, but from excitement.

The staff asked around for a while, but no one came forward.

Eventually, other passengers confirmed that they had seen two adults taking the children to the restroom. At the time, they had assumed it was a family, only sparing a second glance because the little girl was so cute.

The surveillance footage also captured two such people, and they looked exactly like human traffickers.

But the staff searched every restroom on the train, every possible hiding spot, and found no trace of the two adults.

It was as if the two of them had simply vanished into thin air.

"I don’t know what happened... It just suddenly got dark after we went inside. Then they disappeared, and I got so scared I just hid in the corner and cried."

The staff members kept comforting Little White and even took her to get something to eat.

The little boy and his grandfather were taken away.

The train was about to reach the station, but Little White still hadn’t come back.

With a sigh, Wen Ying had no choice but to take Kong Jian and go look for Little White. However, just as the train was pulling into the station...

Suddenly, the sky outside changed dramatically.

The once-clear sky was instantly filled with a thick fog, denser than any they had ever seen before.

It was so dense that they couldn’t see anyone besides the person standing right beside them.

For that one instant, Wen Ying even felt as if time itself had frozen for a second.

She grabbed Kong Jian’s hand. "Kong Jian, are you alright?"

Kong Jian tugged on Liger’s hand, and the fog around them began to dissipate.

The dense fog dissipated slowly, but after ten-odd minutes, they could already see people ten meters away. The fog seemed to have completely enveloped the train.

The doors between the carriages were now locked. No matter how hard anyone pulled, they wouldn’t open.

Only the exit doors stood wide open.

Many people on the train were still fast asleep. Besides Wen Ying and Kong Jian, only four or five others had witnessed the strange phenomenon. They didn’t understand what was happening and were too afraid to make any sudden moves.

"Liger, what about Da Guo?"

Kong Jian looked at Wen Ying with concern. He and Liger were together, so they were fine, of course. But since the carriages were no longer connected, they couldn’t go find Da Guo.
