Chapter 404 - 340: A Clue?
The two were just about to shake their heads when they saw Wen Ying staring at them with sparkling eyes. She added, "I think it’s great, actually. After all, in a place like this, I’m the only one who gets to eat food from the human world."
Her words stopped the two old men from shaking their heads. "Mm, it’s not bad."
"So, what’s the job for today? What do I have to do for you to give me a Satisfied review?"
"You’re a surprising one, little lady. I thought you’d just ask us for a good review directly."
Wen Ying simply smiled without replying, waiting for him to continue.
"It’s nothing much, really. Our room is a bit of a mess. Just help us clean it up and tidy it. As for the rest... we’ll talk about it after you’re done cleaning."
Wen Ying stood up and walked into the duo’s hospital room. On the windowsill sat two somewhat withered flowers whose names she didn’t recognize.
The shapes of the leaves and flowers were quite strange, too.
They looked a bit like human palms.
All sorts of junk was strewn across the floor, but the two old men didn’t seem the least bit embarrassed.
Wen Ying quickly straightened things up. Against one wall was an empty basket. Just as she was about to lift it, one of the old men panicked. "Put that down! That’s our gourmet basket! You’re not allowed to touch it!"
"Alright, I’ve tidied up then, right? Can I get my Satisfied rating now?"
"No! We are not Satisfied with your tidying!"
Wen Ying glanced around. The room was now perfectly neat and tidy, without a single thing out of place. ’Why are they being so unreasonable?’
"What part aren’t you Satisfied with?"
The two old men didn’t answer. They just stared out the window, then at the ceiling, their gazes shifting about, determined to be dissatisfied.
Wen Ying inspected the room again but still couldn’t find anything to be dissatisfied with.
"Are you Satisfied with the bed?"
"Satisfied, hmph."
"What about the floor?"
"Satisfied."
"The windowsill?"
"It’s fine, I guess."
"So you’re *not* satisfied with it?" As Wen Ying spoke, she picked up the flowerpot from the windowsill. "These two plants are withered. It’ll be cleaner if I just toss them."
"Put that down!" the two shouted in unison.
Wen Ying stared at them. "Then what, exactly, are you not Satisfied with? If you’re just trying to be unreasonable..."
Perhaps seeing the change in Wen Ying’s expression, they finally pointed toward the basket in the corner. "Our gourmet basket was full of delicious things, and now that you’re here, it’s empty!"
"Right! Right! That’s it! You have to put our delicious things back in there, and only then will we be Satisfied with today’s task!"
Wen Ying stared at the empty basket. ’So this was their plan all along?’
Wen Ying crouched down and picked up the gourmet basket. Just as the two were thinking their plan had worked, they watched as Wen Ying’s fingers moved in a blur, and she proceeded to dismantle the gourmet basket completely.
She really dismantled it.
They had tricked a previous human into making that thing for them. The two had been waiting for it to be stuffed full of goodies, but they never imagined someone would actually take it apart!
"Girl, you’re courting death!"
The old man’s face went cold as he lunged at Wen Ying, but his outstretched hand touched the instant noodles in her grasp.
The old man froze instantly, his expression a mask of conflict.
’Is she planning to trade this instant ramen for the gourmet basket?’
’That... doesn’t seem like an unacceptable trade. After all, instant noodles are just too delicious!’
’The last cup they had was a stolen one, and they’d fought tooth and nail over it!’
Five minutes later, the two old men were staring at a neat row of "Satisfied." The dismantled gourmet basket had been reassembled into a square container and filled with instant noodles.
There were also a few other things they didn’t seem to recognize, but they had to be delicious food.
Just looking at them made their mouths water uncontrollably.
"Satisfied, Satisfied! We’re absolutely Satisfied!"
The old men’s attitudes changed in an instant. This human was so much better than those brats that came before!
"Little lady, we are very Satisfied with your performance today! We can even get everyone on the third floor to give you a Satisfied rating!"
The two old men looked at their gourmet basket, feeling a sense of happiness they had never known before.
[Is this how foodies react when they see good food? This is too real!]
[I have a cousin who was born a foodie. He’s usually lazy as hell, but if you tempt him with food, he’ll turn into a model worker!]
[I never used to believe people would go to such lengths for food. But seeing everyone’s comments, I realize I’ve been living in a bubble!]
[That old guy is literally me, hahaha! Not gonna lie, everyone I know says I’m a hardcore foodie! There isn’t a single restaurant in my city I don’t know about! I’ve filled up several notebooks with notes on all the hidden gems and food stalls in the back alleys! Whenever someone wants to eat something, they come ask me. So proud! It’s just a shame I never graduated college, so I couldn’t make my parents proud.]
