After dealing with the neighbor, Wen Ying took Little White and Kong Jian straight to the Zhang Family’s home.

Uncle Zhang and Aunt Zhang had always been good to her. No matter what, she had to see them as soon as she got back.

But to her surprise, when they arrived at the Zhang Family’s home...

The door was still locked.

No one was home.

Wen Ying was a little puzzled. Logically, at their age, Uncle Zhang and Aunt Zhang were the type to want to stay in their hometown, not just up and leave.

Yet their door was locked.

’My own clinic was spotless... Maybe they’ve only been gone for three or four days?’

Little White and Kong Jian were quiet the whole way. Before they came, Wen Ying had told them that Uncle Zhang and Aunt Zhang were like family to her.

So both of them were very well-behaved.

But after hitting a dead end, it seemed their big sister wasn’t in a good mood.

"Little Ying? Is that you, Little Ying!" A surprised voice called out from the side.

It was someone who lived near the Zhang Family. They were clearly startled to see Wen Ying.

"It really is you! And these two children are...?"

"My friend’s younger sister and brother," Wen Ying said casually.

After all, the people here knew she had no family, so she couldn’t possibly have a younger brother and sister.

"The children are so good-looking."

"Auntie, why is Uncle Zhang’s house locked? Where did they go?"

"Oh, that! Sigh, I almost forgot. They rushed off to the provincial capital a few days ago. I don’t know what they were so busy with, but they just left. They haven’t been back these past few days. I sent them a message, but they never replied. Little Ying, aren’t you a fortune-teller? The Zhang Family is okay, right?"

"Perhaps they went on a trip."

"Yeah, I think so too. People like us, we barely get to go anywhere in our lifetimes. A trip sounds so far away! Little Ying, have you eaten? Why don’t you come over to my place for a bite?"

"Thank you, Auntie, but I’ve already eaten. I still have things to do at the clinic, so I’ll be going now."

On the way back, Little White asked, puzzled, "Big Sister, we obviously haven’t eaten. Why did you say we had?"

Her little tummy was flat.

And so, the two of them received a lesson in the ways of the world and reviewed what had happened.

Wen Ying’s relationship with this auntie was just average, and the woman hadn’t been particularly close with Grandma Wen, either. In this situation, going to someone’s house to eat would be an imposition, and she would end up owing them a favor.

There was no need for that.

That’s why, here, Wen Ying was only willing to eat at Uncle Zhang’s house.

As they walked back, they saw more people, and everyone soon knew that Wen Ying had returned with two exceptionally beautiful children.

Back at the clinic, the presence of the three of them brought life to the place, which was no longer empty and deserted.

Wen Ying bought some groceries and went to the kitchen to cook.

Kong Jian, ever curious, wandered around, looking here and there.

Little White then took Kong Jian to the backyard and squatted next to the long-unseen Zhu Yu Grass. "Little Brother, take a sniff. What do you smell?"

Kong Jian obediently squatted beside her, looking at a pot of grass.

The grass was planted in a flowerpot and didn’t look like anything special.

’Could Da Guo be so hungry that she’s seeing things?’

’Is she mistaking this pot of grass for a delicacy?’

’But this is the Liger’s home. Even though it’s just grass, it must be very important to the Liger. Otherwise, why would it be planted in a flowerpot?’

He only saw Little White extend her paw—oh, no, her small, fair hand—and place it directly on a leaf.

"Hold on!" Kong Jian’s heart leaped into his throat.

’Da Guo really is hallucinating from hunger!’

’What do I do, what do I do?’

’How can I save the Liger’s grass?’

Little White tilted her head to look at Kong Jian, her face full of disdain. "I knew you were clueless. You’ve never seen this before, have you? Let me tell you, this is good stuff!"

’Da Guo’s hallucinations are getting worse...’

Before Kong Jian could think of a solution, he saw Da Guo had already plucked a blade of grass and then...

’Shoved it directly into my mouth?’

’Da Guo is making me eat grass?’

"So? How does it feel?" Little White grinned, plucking another leaf and popping it into her own mouth.

’Now that I’m human, my body’s need for Spiritual Power has changed a bit, but one thing is the same: I still need Spiritual Energy.’

Kong Jian was about to speak when he felt a warm current flowing through his body. It seemed to flow... In short, it felt incredibly comfortable.

It wasn’t just comfortable. He could feel it in the grass’s leaf—was that Spiritual Energy?

Heavens!

This pot of grass could actually produce Spiritual Energy?

He turned his head to look at Little White. She was sitting on the spot with her eyes closed, meditating.

’Looks like I overthought things. Da Guo knew what this was.’

’It wasn’t a hallucination at all.’ He felt rather sheepish.

’Da Guo is so good to me.’

Kong Jian copied Little White, closing his eyes and sitting cross-legged on the spot.
