Dream Life

Episode 63: Zack Cartel

July 9.

A feast was held that night to celebrate our return home.

Heard I was back and Rob the hunter brought me all the prey of the day.

With a few rabbits and mountain birds, it looks like Molly stepped out and cooked them.

Usually, it's just my family, but Mel and Dan and Sharon specially surround the Rockhart family table today, too. Perhaps my father or mother arranged it.

We'll have a meal and talk about what happened in Doctus.

We will be talking about the increased level of demon hunting in the woods, the fact that he became a fifth level adventurer, and Professor Raspade's classes.

Fun dinner time went by to snort and surprise at my story.

After dinner, I told my father and grandfather about Byron.

What we met a year ago, what you said you wanted to do to the Lockhart family, what you said me and Guy wouldn't give a hand.

My father listened quietly, but my grandfather's expression was somewhat unintentional to what I didn't mouth.

"No matter how many times you make an election, if you admit to being one of them, Non will not serve the Lockhart family."

I snort at it with a serious face.

"Of course, your uncle and father will be able to see and decide properly about people. But he's as much a man as Byron. Whether it was my mouthfeel or not, I thought I could always serve. And on top of that, I thought it might be easier for me to get used to home sooner."

My father nodded with a smile at my words.

"Sure. He'd be happier to be told he won his father's trust on his own."

My grandfather also loosened his expression to see if he understood my thoughts.

"But I did something bad to Guy. I just told him not to mouth it, and when I started serving, I thought I could talk to my uncle and father..."

"It is. He's not that kind of guy. I don't care, but I'll call you later."

I bowed my head and tried to get back to my room.

Then my father stops me.

"Do we still need to talk about Byron?

My father laughed and said, "It's about Miss Beatrice,"

"Mel cared a lot. He thinks you made a new woman without him."

I'm worried about how to answer that. Then my father's expression became a little cloudy.

"I was going to joke..."

I shook my head small and smiled bitterly.

"I don't know. Surely Beatrice is an attractive woman. Besides, you're favoring me. But I have Liddy... what should I do..."

When I looked in deep trouble, my grandfather started laughing.

"F, hahahaha! Oh, no, I'm sorry. I thought you'd look like that. That was weird...... fu...... hahahaha!

After laughing a lot, my grandfather got a serious look,

"Even you, clever at everything, are clumsy at places like this. By the way, are you telling Beatrice your secret?

I nodded and honestly told him I told him at the beginning of the year.

My grandfather and father shut up and think for a while. And my grandfather opened his mouth to Seo Momouro.

"If you decide you can be trusted, Noon will support it. Lydia would never betray you if she admitted it. That's good, Matt."

Speaking to my father to confirm, my father nods loudly.

"As far as I can tell, I think Miss Beatrice is a trustworthy woman. I feel slightly clumsy, but I was wondering if it would be just right for Zach."

And look at me,

"Whatever Lydia is, think about Mel and Sharon. Especially talk to Mel as soon as you can. 'Cause you're coming home, and I've been up for the last month or so."

I'm puzzled by the look on my face, but I nod small to delude it.

"Okay. I'm just calling Dan and Mel. Thought I'd give you a souvenir. Then I'll talk to Mel directly."

And my grandfather started talking with a serious look on his face.

"I remember the story of the world you were in, but this is not the peaceful world you were in. Your heart is close to the year of Noun. So maybe you're being conservative... you're always looking ahead and doing things in a planned way. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. No, it would be better for everyone..."

So he cut the words and stared at me firmly.

"In this world, neither men nor women know when they will die. Even Elves, who are long-lived, don't know what's ahead. So don't just postpone and regret it. If it's a peaceful world, it's not a problem to say you can think about it tomorrow... but that doesn't apply here. Demons, bandits, sickness... they're full of danger. You must have been ready to die once, too. Then you know what Non is saying."

"Yes...... I feel like I know what you're trying to say. But..."

My grandfather blocked my words,

"Then fine. You may regret it. Well, don't regret just wandering around. That's all I can say."

My grandfather seems to be looking back at his past and giving me advice.

(I suppose you want to include Beatrice and tell her not to regret postponing it. I know what you're trying to say. but......)

"I know what you're trying to say. But isn't it untrue to love multiple heterosexuals... That was common sense in the world I was in. So..."

My father answers that question, not my grandfather.

"I love Tanya. So much so that I don't think I need another woman. But I'm not going to force it on you... let's not talk about it."

My father kept talking when I snorted.

"Are you saying that what you call untruthfulness is loving more than one person at the same time? Then why don't you think about it like this? Is it untrue to love multiple children at the same time? Is it untrue to love so many families?"

That's what my father said and asked. But I felt that was a trick.

"Isn't that a trick? A couple that was basically someone else with a blood connected family. Treating that in the same row feels odd. I don't know, a couple is something that becomes a family with a connection of heart. Is that mind connection possible for more than one person? No, is it a good thing to go..."

My father laughs, "I still can't beat you by reason".

"But if more than one child can be given unstinting affection, can it be done even among the opposite sex? If they want it and can do it, it's worth a try. Well, I can't... hahahaha"

I can't react to my father's laughter.

"Does Father want me to tell you that besides Liddy, Beatrice, Mel, Sharon... well... if you can love me, you can love me without thinking deeply?

"Right," my father nods.

"But if that makes Mel, Sharon or Beatrice unhappy..."

On behalf of my father, my grandfather replies, "Let's be then".

"If you want to impose, of course, Noh disagrees. So the three of you still want to be with you, huh? Then it's their chosen path. And if you get unhappy, you won't regret it."

My father snorts heavily at my grandfather's words, too.

"To me, Mel and Sharon are the same as their daughters. Of course, so are the other squire children. So I want you two to be happy. No, I want you to win your own happiness. Besides, I think you could do it."

I didn't think my father or grandfather would say such an opinion.

I don't stand to fuck, but my grandfather thinks of his dead grandmother, he's not remarried, and as my father has publicly stated, he loves my mother wholeheartedly. Previously, my father had heard of a mother in love at first sight, who hung a fierce attack and rowed into marriage. Then, without a floating story - of course, it can't happen like this floating story in Rasmore Village - I thought I'd definitely disagree with you, like surrounding multiple women with a single strand of my mother.

(It is not a good idea to postpone it, although it is not a good word. At least let's be honest with you two about Mel and Sharon. Those two are like daughters to me. That it can't be paedophile...... you mean Beatrice later? Difficult to organize your mind......)

With that in mind, I followed my grandfathers and headed to Mel's.

Mel, Sharon and Dan were waiting in my room.

This time it's just "Zach Cartel” and there's no Liddy either.

At first, he said Liddy was with him, but I had him shy away.

I was gonna tell Mel and Sharon how honest I feel right now. So I asked Liddy not to. Of course, I was only going to talk about Liddy then, but I listen to my grandfather and my father, and I think I need to talk about Beatrice as well.

When I get back to my room, Dan smiles just like Mel with a full smile, and three Sharons greet me.

I said, "You made me wait," and then I decided to give Mel and Dan a souvenir.

"It's a souvenir for both of us. It's a cape made by a doctus tannery..."

Handing it to the two of them, he explains the performance, but Mel had hardly heard it and stared to hug the cape, Dan looking strange at its unusual pattern.

"Dan's says it's a camouflage pattern, and they're making it look less visible in the woods."

"It does look like a leaf, but I think it's pretty noticeable... oh, excuse me. Thank you. I forgot to thank you with a rare pattern..."

Dan has said that and apologized as he scratched his head.

I didn't care, so I said, "Don't worry about it. Shall we go into the woods tomorrow and check it out? Fine, you should lose your visibility," he said, laughing back.

In the meantime, Mel looks at his cloak.

When I turned to the water, I said, "I'd love it if Mel liked it," and Mel returned to me, "Thank you, Master Zach," I realized I'd forgotten to thank you, and I had a bright red face.

I say, "Mel has another souvenir," and I hand him the piece I bought at Doctus.

"Maybe it shouldn't be perfect, so get Polly - Mel's mother - to rework it"

What I gave you is a simple shaped piece of bright blue. I couldn't figure out the size of Mel, so I talked to Sharon and Liddy and bought some big-eyed stuff.

Mel spreads the piece she receives and then looks really happy.

I waited until she settled down somewhat and talked about what had happened over the past year.

It's mine, but I have twenty-six swordsman levels and thirty swordsmanship skills. Magic is at level thirty for the best wind attribute magic, and the fire attribute magic is twenty-nine in the fight against bandits the other day.

Sharon has become a wind attribute twenty-five and a fire attribute twenty-four.

Meanwhile, the Mels, but Mel's swordsman level is twenty-six, and swordsmanship skills thirty-one. Dan was up to Swordsman XVI, Swordsmanship Skill XX, Archer Level XV, and Archery Skill XVIII.

You're supposed to have less experience in action than we do, but you're leveling up to barely the same.

I said, "You're both amazing. Me and Sharon were in a forest full of demons, but I didn't expect to get this far up in this peaceful village of Rasmore," they praised.

But Mel looked slightly at the fact that there was no longer a difference in swordsman level with me. And he looked down, "I tried so hard..."

I decided to look at Dan and ask him what kind of training he did.

"I asked my father to come to Mount Shekharion this spring for a month..."

When asked for more information, they piled on a small mountain called Mount Shekharion, north of the village of Rasmore.

Mount Shekharion is a place where demons are constantly coming in from the north and the village vigilantes are regularly going on crusades, not the kind of place children go. I spent a month in a place like that with just two kids. The first of them said Dan's father, Guy Jakes, and Mel's father, Hector Marron, were with him, but after ten days they started living alone.

I lost my word when I heard it.

Though vigilantes regularly crusade, Mount Shekharion is a dangerous place for demons to flow from around Kalsh - a place where there are many demons in the north.

That's not as cluttered as goblins or wild dogs either. If you're a big guy, it's a place where third-degree augs can even live.

"In a place like that... it wouldn't be dangerous for just the two of us"

When I said that, Mel started talking desperately.

"Because Master Zach is in the woods... Guy told me that the woods north of Doctus are so full of demons that they're perfect for raising arms... so are we..."

Apparently, he heard I was in the Doctus Forest and felt in a hurry.

I realized now that I wasn't thinking about Mel and the others.

(Mel has been trying to get after me for a long time. If I'm right in front of you, I know how much difference there is, so I'm not so impotent... this is my mistake. I prioritized my level up and didn't think about Mel. Fortunately, he doesn't seem to have suffered any major injuries. If anything happens... Now, what should we do...)

I started talking to Mel and Dan with a serious look on my face.

"I have no choice but to stop doing dangerous imitations of the mountain just the two of us up ahead. With me or Liddy, healing magic can cure a few injuries. But just the two of us, it's unlikely you'll be able to help if you get hurt. Dan, you know what I mean."

Dan snorts small at my words.

I'll keep talking.

"Even the hunters are so afraid of dying of injuries in the woods. They don't fight demons. Yet. The danger of injury is not comparable to that of the hunters if you hit the mountains with a demon hunt... I know how Mel feels in a hurry. But stop training like you two are gonna get hurt where I'm not, no, you could die. Please."

I bow my head on the spot.

Mel said something, "Oh, um..." I would, but I'm speechless.

When I lifted my head, Dan apologized to me.

"I know exactly what Master Zach will say. I could have stopped Mel if I had been stronger."

"It's not! Dan stopped me. But I said I couldn't... I'm sorry. Dear Zach, it's not about Zach being apologized for. I... I'm sorry..."

Mel brings tears to her eyes and apologizes to me.

I held her shoulder,

"I was safe. You don't have to apologize anymore. I should have thought more about you."

Mel buries her face on my shoulder and cries as she rinses her nose.

(I don't know what to do... I don't know if I can ask for it. That guy's fine, he's lethargic. If they are going to be on the battlefield even though they are children, they are going to say that there is no problem with death and adjacent training... asking Father would not be a fundamental solution. Again, it's probably best to keep it out of my sight...)

"Mel, Dan, listen to me. Why don't you come with me to Doctus? Mel will be impotent again if I'm gone. Then you can rest assured I'm in my sight, no, even Liddy, that you're in our sight. What do you say?"

Mel looks up to my words. She opened her bright red eyes all over her cup and was staring at me, but she immediately hugged me with a happy look.

"With Master Zach...... are you sure?

Mel groaned so, "In the way of Master Zach's studies...... yeah, I won't interrupt. But even if I go..." I was slightly confused.

"Of course, Father, I need permission from Hector and Guy. So it's not a decision yet. Remember that."

Mel was crying until just now, and now she looks so happy that she doesn't have any more.

(Was she such a change of expression girl? I feel a little different while away from me... I mean emotional instability, still, I can't keep my eyes open...)

Dan gave a slightly bewildered look, but immediately gave a joyous look,

"Am I okay too? No, I want to go too! I want to be stronger too, and I want to see a lot of places..."

I was slightly afraid that the two of them were on the rise.

"Going with us means we're separated from our families. You're ready for that."

They said, "" Yes!, "he answers with his voice.

"It's okay. 'Cause Sharon made it. Even I... Sharon, I'll be fine."

Sharon sneers at Mel's inquiry.

"Mel would be fine. I missed you at first, but I'm sure you'll get used to it soon, because both Master Zach and Lydia were there."

I look at Dan, but he was like a boy of his age who wanted to adventure, and he seemed to give thought to a big city he hadn't seen yet.

I thought I was sooner, but one day I remember we were going to leave the village together.

(It's painful to keep a twelve-year-old away from his parents, but it's not so bizarre in this world. Even the children of the city are in the years of service, and it's not strange for the children of the knights to join the Knights as apprentices. Nevertheless, we also have to think about Hector and the Guys. 'Cause it's going to pull the cute kid away...)

I decided to tell this story to my family tomorrow.

And I finally decided to get down to business.
