Dream Life

Lesson 29: The Aftermath of Confession

Tria Calendar July 19, 2017, around 3 p.m.

This morning, I was assassinated by Harrison Gunnell, a subordinate of Associate Baron Desmond Gateskel. The wound itself was no big deal, but the dagger used in the attack was poisoned and put him in a pretty dangerous situation.

Without my poison resistance skills and my aggressive magic of detoxification, and Liddy's healing magic, he could have died.

It's true that I was caught off guard this time.

We had heard rumors that Harrison Gannell had been carrying out an assassination in his battle against the Holy Kingdom of Lukes, but no one even knew what method he had actually taken. In the first place, his past is mysterious. Gannell is said to be from Imperial Capital, and there is no acquaintance here in the northern realm, and no one knows his past except Associate Baron Gateskel.

My alarm is that I had an assumption about the Imperial Knight. No matter how many names are sold as magicians, there was an assumption that their high pride should not tolerate the use of poisonous and palliative means for assassinations to my extent. If we had proceeded a little more carefully, we would not have been in a critical situation so far.

Eventually, he was transported back to Welburn Castle by the Second Knights soldiers on patrol through the city. The shoulder wound was shallow and the poison itself disappeared completely in about thirty minutes, so there was no problem at all, but she returned to the castle in the form of her plea to worry.

He reported the upside of the matter to his father, and further explained to Liddy and the others that he had become obsessed in order to lure Gannell out.

Liddy and Beatrice begin their sermons like a blaze.

Haven't had a front seat in a while.

It's a hard stone floor, and it's also with boots on. Of course, it went voluntarily. Never, instinctively went for fear of the two of us.

It was Mel and Sharon who enjoyed more than the two sermons.

He seemed pretty worried about the battle in the castle the other day, and when he heard I was dying, the two of them came to tears and begged him not to do anything unscrupulous.

I put my head on the floor from a seated position and apologized to everyone in the so-called dirt seat position.

As I learned later, my father was pretty scolded by my mother for saying he was the same as me. She's usually a warm mother, but at times like this, she's scarier than the hungry dragon Dragon. Anyway, I'm the one who asked him to stop, so he thinks he did something bad to my father.

As I apologized to everyone, the use came from First Knights Chief Baron Braceford.

A knight, a messenger, had a surprised look at me for apologizing in a way that was close to the dugout. But as soon as I saw it and pretended not to see it, Gannell made a serious confession, so I told him I wanted him to come with my father to Uncle Borderline's office.

I breathe a slight relief that I was helped by this. But Liddy and Beatrice seem to have noticed, and even after running errands and coming back, there's no doubt the sermon will begin again.

I thought I should stand up anyway, even though I was stunned by a dark future. But in a hurry, I've forgotten about my paralyzed leg, and I can't stand up and let him hold my leg.

Liddy, still angry in front of me, sends a cold gaze.

(No. My legs are paralyzed and I can't walk...... Is leg paralysis a good way to recover from paralysis? Or would a normal cure work better?

To escape reality, I was thinking about something that didn't matter.

Returning to me with the Apostle's cough, he hurries and hangs his normal healing magic to take a leg paralysis. I made sure I could walk, and made my way to Uncle Borderline's office early.

into the office, but there were only three of them there, the Borderline Uncle, the belly-hearted Baron Oldham, and the Baron Braceford, and they didn't even look like the civilians who were supposed to be holding back beside them.

The first thing I felt was the bitter air covering the room.

It captured Gannell and was still as painful as if the crisis had not left, even though tomorrow's ceremonial worries should have been removed.

(I guess a serious confession was pretty heavy on him. I can't imagine at all......)

When we get to our seats, Baron Braceford slowly opens his mouth.

"The contents of Gannell's confession, but I found out something unexpected..."

The Knights chief speaks Gannell's confession with a bitter look.

It begins with Gannell being nestled in the great nobility of the Imperial capital and losing his family and men, and is told that he has returned from Luke in retaliation to serve Associate Baron Gateskel, and that he has assassinated him and those who stand in the way of Viscount Tiesburn because of Gateskel's prosperity.

In the story of the assassination of Patrick, the son of Uncle Borderline, the Knights chief let his voice wave in anger,

"If there was such a thing... Master Patrick... thought it was strange for Luke's fanatics. Patrick, who was so energetic, suddenly fell ill..."

The Commander of the Knights will be unable to continue his words any further.

Baron Oldham picked up the story and told us what Gannell's confession was about.

The story of Gannell's confession ends.

No one opens their mouths and silence dominates the place.

I knew the facts I had not expected at all, too, and I had lost my word. My father, who is beside me, is equally unable to open his mouth with a stunned look.

(Luke Holy Kingdoms is a more troublesome opponent than I thought...)

This was my first impression when I finished listening.

This Gannell thing could be a coincidence. But it's true that we've been plotting to disrupt the Empire for almost a decade now. There is no doubt that we are only sending many agents within the Empire, including at least the Imperial Capital.

In fact, Auraf Oulett, who names Aurella's merchant, says he's been registering for a commercial guild for decades, and seems familiar with the circumstances of the Imperial Army.

Knowledge of drug relations would also be a threat.

The bloody drugs of the Light God (Lucidus), the poison you used when you attacked me, the two kinds of drugs you used when you killed Patrick... they are all definitely horrible drugs. I don't know how constrained it is, but it's hard to prevent it when it's used for terrorism like this one.

As I was thinking about that, Uncle Hubert Raswell, who was listening with a thin eye, slowly started talking.

"We have to give Luke the reward he deserves. We can't deny all the assassinations and conspiracies, but we have to make sure we don't get our hands on them."

That's what I said in an unimaginably cold tone from a warm borderline uncle.

Hear the word, something cold flows down your spine. And even though it was the middle of summer, I was feeling chilly like my skin was poppy.

Both Baron Oldham and Baron Braceford nodded at the words of Uncle Borderline, and the room was wrapped in killings similar to cold air.

"There it is. I want to borrow the wisdom of Sir Zacharias. Of course not."

Uncle Borderline stared at me with a fixed eye and spoke with a critical voice that reached his ear.

As I was about to be drunk by the atmosphere of the place, I said to my voice, "Whatever wisdom is, what is power…" so I was at my best.

"Sir can move the Blacksmith Guild. Use the dwarves to pressure countries."

"Is it pressure..."

"That's right. Put pressure on Luke to declare war. If we don't cooperate, we need to pull up the dwarves. Commercial guilds will have to work with us on this one. If the Blacksmith Guild and the Commercial Guild move, both Lax and Sartooth will have to move. And, of course, Kaum."

Borderline uncles threaten countries through the Blacksmith Guild, moving the United Kingdom of Lax Sartous and the Kingdom of Caum, which are defending their neutrality, and also turning to the Commercial Guild to add each city belonging to the Union of Urban States to the siege net.

If Uncle Borderline is right, Luke will turn the whole world against his enemies, and he will collapse at once.

(Uncle Borderline seems to be completely upside down when he hears he's been murdered by a man. If you think calmly, you'll soon find out that it's far beyond the authority of the Northern Governor... not even Baron Oldham as Brake realizes that... I'm not willing to cooperate, but how can I persuade him...)

To be honest, I'm not going to endorse the idea of Borderline Bells. I don't even have the dust to use the Dwarves as a tool for politics.

But I was hesitant to mention it in this atmosphere. From the atmosphere they wrapped around, it seemed like they were declaring everything they disagreed with to be their enemy.

Express common sense opinions and explore their reactions.

"How do you explain it to Imperial Capital? Though I believe such diplomatic issues deviate from the authority of the Northern Governor's Office?

Uncle Borderline did not answer my question. Instead, the Knights Commander started talking.

"Sir tells you to leave Luke alone! Not only have they deceived God's name, but they have also used vile means such as assassinations! If we leave this alone, they should continue to use despicable means. We can't overlook that!

There's totally blood on my head and I can't seem to make a calm decision.

"I also don't think Luke should be left alone"

Uncle Borderline says to my words, "If so, will you give me a hand?"

I shake my head "wearing" while answering "no".

"Why! Sir, if you don't cooperate, you can't crush them, you fanatics!

And I turned my gaze to my father,

"Lord Masaias! Sir would understand! The Lockhart family connects us to the Raswell family. Then let Non avenge my son..."

I didn't care how my father answered. Basically, he wasn't good at talking about politics and diplomacy, and he was worried that he might snort at Uncle Borderline's words.

But my father hesitated but didn't shake his head vertically.

"To me, if that's what my Lockhart family can do, let me help you, even if it's a disaster. In the battle with Luke, I would be happy to go if I were commanded to go to the dead..."

Uncle Borderline makes his expression shine in the words for a moment.

"...... but I just can't accept using the blacksmiths"

Uncle Borderline was the best to say "why," wondering if his father's answer was unexpected.

"The blacksmiths and my Lockhart family are neither subordinate nor allied. It's just a bond of friendship. This time His Excellency's measures seek to spark the battle" Kudosa "through personal grievances. You can't involve“ friends "in a battle without cause."

My father was not frightened at all by the strong gaze of Borderline Uncle and the Knights Commander, and said so out.

"Sir said it was a personal grievance, but he turned the assassin over to an imperial dignitary. If it's retaliation, it's not personal."

My father shook his head again at the words of Uncle Borderline.

"Evidence is from Gannell's testimony only. I have to say that it is my personal business to believe in it and to be avenged."

In support of my father, I interrupt the conversation by saying, "I have the same idea as my father."

"Your Excellency must have seen it the other day, too. I can't bring those simple dwarves into this kind of conspiracy."

My father and I are silent.

"But you can't leave Luke alone. I won't deny the plot, if it's a conspiracy, on the battle" Sabotage, "but you should teach them to get what they deserve."

Baron Braceford said, "What reward are you going to give me?" and say the question.

"Luke's Holy Kingdom, no, we're going to teach the leaders of the Light Divinity a lesson. If we do this, the light divinity you are trying to spread is a teaching you don't deserve to believe and that the followers of light divinity will disappear from all over the world..."

Uncle Borderline said, "What exactly are you going to do?" and show interest.

I explained my thoughts.

Make this fact public to a large extent.

Let Harrison Gannell, the executor, testify in public when Luke frequently assassinates with poison and tries to eliminate not only the Empire, but those who would be to their detriment. That's also with the muscle that says Gannell is a follower of the Light Divinity and an operative infiltrated from Lukes.

Luke is creating the Church of the Light Divinity in every country in order to make it a hub of activity for sabotage. He is now feeding the poor and so on with the relief of the weak, but will soon try to mix drugs and enslave them. In fact, the slaves sent into Viscount Tysburn territory were poor people in Luke's country, most of whom were addicted patients to the "blood of the Light God (Lucidus)”. They are drug-addicted quotes, sent into enemy territory. Phototheistic religions even throw away their own followers. I mean, if you accept them, make them testify that the same thing happens everywhere.

It's mostly true what makes Gannell testify. While it is not true that Gannell himself is not Luke's operative, that all Light Theocracy officials can be operatives, it is all true on other points. It is easy to wonder if the whole story would also be true if it contained even part of the truth. Especially for those who are bitter about light theism, it would be a story that falls deep enough.

But to this extent, Luke doesn't move.

It is decided to ignore such defamation from enemy countries. But it is possible to do damage to Luke's "Holy King's Palace” by striking another hand.

Make the world realize that all the plots made by the Holy King's Palace have ended in failure.

Uncle Borderline was listening to me and regaining his calm. And you've told me you have doubts in two respects.

"... one is that Gannell honestly asks if he will follow. Another is how to prove you failed without knowing the full extent of the Holy King's manoeuvre. In particular, some of the plots of the Holy King's Palace have been successful. The assassination of Patrick definitely disrupted the northern part of the Empire."

I nod small and say, "I don't know if you have any concerns."

"There is a way to work on those two points. But this will require your decision."

Uncle Borderline said quietly, "Specifically?," he asked.

I said this in a calm voice when I worked.

"I declare His Highness Viscount Constance Tiesburn and Associate Baron Desmond Gateskel not guilty."

"You think Constance and Gateskell are innocent? Those who took us to the Lockhart family, including Sir. By Sir's measure, I publicly declare that I am the victim of Luke's, but the facts are different. Do you know that, sir?

I snort at it, but it was a question of assumption, so I immediately show off my thoughts.

"Sure, that's true. But whatever Viscount Tiesburn is, Associate Baron Gateskel wasn't trying to overthrow him from the start either. Only as a result of giving in to Luke's agent Oulett's blackmail. Subject to the acquittal of the Associate Baron, Gannell should honestly come aboard our measures..."

After revoking Viscount Tiesburn's disposition, I will acquit Associate Baron Gateskel of his sins.

Viscount Tiesburn has lost his support in this case and withdrawing his disposition would not be a problem. No one in the country will cooperate, even if the Viscount tries to do anything any more, just because it seems that he intends to be used by the enemy nation Lukes again.

Gateskell, but this one announces that it will be heavily used in the Northern Governor's Office after not questioning the sins. It's not an unnatural story if you don't know the truth, because you are originally a competent official and are regarded as one of the best in the empire if you have experience.

What would happen if these were passed on to the leaders of the Light God?

You should realize that the measure of causing confusion in the northern realm of the Empire has not just failed. Looking only at the results, the fact remains that the home disturbances at the Ladswell Border House not only converged without anything, but also developed the poorest Viscount Tiesburn territory in the northern region. The Empire will have succeeded in promoting impoverished areas without using its own funds.

If that's all, it's still fine.

It will be financially damaging because Aurelia will be expressing anti-Luke in this failure. It means that Luke's means of acquiring foreign currency are gone.

Furthermore, the great publicity given to the use of suspicious drugs undoubtedly hinders the missionary activity of phototheism as well. In other words, the damage is not only economic, but also politically significant.

The leaders of phototheism will be furious at this result because they see only superficial places. In other words, the firmness of the Holy King's Palace and the Church Headquarters deepens within Lukes.

This failure is all the fault of the Holy King's Palace. It is an excellent opportunity for the Order Headquarters to rewind, which was weakened by the failure in the Kaum kingdom - which caused problems with the Blacksmith Guild and the Dwarf blacksmiths to leave Luke's country - and there is no doubt that there will be confusion within Luke's.

In order to minimise that confusion, the upper echelons of the Holy King's Palace should let the executors take responsibility for this failure. Naturally, Oulett would also be subject to disposal.

If you tell him that Gateskell can be saved from his predicament as to whether Ganell will follow this course of action, he will soon be the one who is loyal. You can teach Oulett that if he succeeds, he can retaliate. He thinks the Associate Baron is in a predicament because of the Oulet he himself made out with, so he's bound to testify as this one says.

When I explain that much, Uncle Borderline gives me a bitter look.

"I can certainly make Luke blow a bubble. But you can't kill Oulett, who made Patrick a deceased..."

Baron Braceford speaks up before I answer that.

"Sir's measures are not wrong. But the Fourth Battalion was killed by Gateskell measures! Even though Luke was hunting us down, the rebellion in the castle was his own initiative and cause! There's no way I can endorse that, such as ignoring it!

Emotionally, I can understand what the Knights Commander is trying to say. But I dared argue with a strong tone.

"So you're telling me to use the Dwarves, according to His Excellency the Governor's measures! So when a dead knight or soldier is convinced, is that what you think!

The Knights chief wasn't convinced of the measure of using Dwarves either, he didn't argue with just staring at me.

"This is a battle. But it's only a war between the Empire and the Holy King Luke. Will we be allowed to involve those who have nothing to do with that war?

I look at the look on their faces as I ask the borderline bosses that. Earlier cold-blooded expressions disappeared and turned out to be slightly distressed.

I will confirm that and continue to persuade you further.

"... that's not all. The Raswell family could be crushed. Is that what you think the deceased want?

Silence spreads to my words. The borderline uncle breaks that silence.

"That's true... it seemed like there was blood on my head about Patrick. Neither Patrick nor the brave men of the Fourth Battalion will want you to take revenge until you sacrifice my Raswell family..."

And to Baron Braceford,

"I also know how Sir feels. The knights will feel the same way. I am not telling you to convince Sir Zacharias of his measures. I wouldn't even tell you to hang out with Constance or Gateskell without care..."

So I bowed my head,

"But this time it will be Sir Zacharias's measure. Will you enjoy it?"

Baron Braceford hastily said, "Please raise your head,"

"At least I'm not emotionally convinced. But there's no better way than to come up with a better idea."

Baron Oldham also nodded,

"You owe it to Sir Zacharias. We may have only served our enemies with blood on our heads."

Uncle Borderline nods with a calm expression and turns to me again.

"I'd like to ask Sir to persuade Gateskell and Gannell. We won't be able to keep them calm with our eyes open. Trouble, will you ask me? Of course, I entrust full powers to Sir"

I nodded, "Okay. I will try to persuade you somehow," he replied.

This time I persuaded the borderline bosses to respond rationally. But if I think about it instead of myself, I don't think I can handle it rationally.

If they hurt my family or my people for unreasonable reasons... if Liddy and the others were killed, then I would undoubtedly use every means I could take to avenge them.

Not only would he use all my handouts to hunt down the powerful, but he would stab a stop with his own hands. Whether you are the emperor of the Caerm Empire, said to be the most powerful in the world, or the demonic king at the end of the Aquila Mountains - the Great Mountains of the East - use every hand to retaliate.

In that regard, I can say that I am emotionally close to Baron Braceford.

(In fact, if that happens, I'm not sure I can contain myself. If we make the best use of our knowledge and magic in previous life, which we now seal, primitive nuclear weapons… manufacturing uranium bombs is not that difficult a story. Metallic magic makes it easy to extract uranium, and I've actually extracted it. Separating and enriching uranium 235 will take some time... if the detonator also uses magic...)

When I think about it that much, I realize I'm ahead of time. And I'm flattered by what I was thinking.

(My thoughts seem to be radical because I have the deceptive power. You can't even think about this... but this time it's not about other people. We should be careful not to get caught up in the conspiracy. I have continued to be involved in conspiracies during this visit to Wellburn. Even though you can't control everything, if you pay a little more attention, some should have been prevented before...)

With that in mind, I headed to the room where Harrison Gannell was.
