Dream Life

Episode 75: The Dark Son

Tria Calendar October 12, 2017, around 10 a.m.

In the tragic village of Thysek, we were searching for survivors.

We saw a massacre so thorough that we thought it was intransigent, we didn't think there was survival at the beginning of the search. However, he felt slight signs inside a private house and discovered survivors hiding in storage under the floor.

It was a girl about ten years old who was inside, she kept crying or her nose was bright red, trembling with fear.

She was a very normal girl dressed in a rough fiber piercing coat, like that worn by poor peasants, burnt in the sun with a dusty, coal-filled face. But if you look closely, he has dark chestnut (...) colored hair with tinted eyes and a rare oriental look around here.

But I didn't care what I looked like.

(This is... this feeling... is the guy that God used to say “destiny” in his dreams... I do know...)

The moment I saw the girl, I knew she was the one God was talking about destiny. But it didn't feel as touching or fateful to meet as I had imagined. There was a strong administrative impression that only faintly conveyed the facts, which was really light.

(Speaking of fateful encounters, you were more impressed when I first met Liddy. Unlike that, I thought it felt like a tremor was coming...)

Because I was thinking about it, or for a little while, but it seemed to stop moving with my fur in my grip. Beatrice, who was on guard behind me like that, calls out to me.

"What's wrong with you? … is there any inconvenience? ……

That's all I said, I noticed my bewildered look,

"Is this the girl you were talking about?"

Liddy also lost his word just because he said, "The kid..." The two hardened with their eyes and mouths open, and I was also thinking about how to take this fact, so there was a slight amount of time but silence flowing between the three of them. If the suspicious Mel hadn't called, the condition would have continued for a few more seconds.

"Dear Zach. Shouldn't we do something about this kid..."

With that word I finally recognized that the girl in front of me was quaking. But I don't know how to speak to a girl trembling with fear.

Try to squeeze it out somehow. "Don't worry. We're adventurers here to help," he says to his voice, "but the girl kept her eyes open and just shook her neck sideways had little effect.

If I can't do anything, Mel approaches the girl and hugs her so she can hold her head.

"It's okay, if you stay with me. So don't worry."

A little tremor subsides in Mel's words. You finally have a voice, "What about your mother? What about your father?" he asked in a whispering voice.

I am not old enough to be a toddler, but my mental state is unstable, and it was a terrible tone like toddler regression.

I remember a man and a woman who were falling outside the house with that voice.

(I guess those two are the parents of this kid. Because you can't show that tragic body...)

I send a small signal to Mel, take the cloth that was laid on the floor, and go outside subtly.

Two people, Dan and Sharon, who were on guard outside, noticed me and ran over.

"Was there a survivor?

Nodding at Dan's inquiry,

"Oh, she's as much of a girl as Theo and the others"

I don't know the exact age, but my brother Theo-Theophilus. Seraphine and the twins turn ten - they look younger, but they said they were five years younger than me in God's story, so they would definitely be the same age as my brother.

I join my hands on the bodies of the two, and then I pluck out the Demonic Crystal - a jewel-like crystal that is in the body of humans and demons and where the soul is said to dwell. Remove the bracelet-shaped orb - the magic prop with the personal information engraved on it - which is further on your arm.

Wipe the bloody orb and hang the cloth on the body.

Slow footsteps back into the house,

"Maybe it belongs to your father and your mother."

That's what I said. I handed him the Demon Stone and the Orb.

I know I have other things to say myself, but no more words come up.

The girl also said to her temperament, "Thank you......" she lowered her head slightly and thanked her, muttering in a fine voice.

"Your father and mother are dead..."

That's all I said, I get zero large tears.

It was Beatrice listening to this interaction, but she said, "This place sucks. You should leave soon," he urged.

Sure, it's about wild dogs and big black ravens now, but the orcs who attacked this village don't know where they are, and the smell of blood doesn't necessarily invite them to come even more powerful demons.

"I'm Zach. As Beatrice said, this place is dangerous. In the meantime, you should get out of the village"

I shake my head sideways without saying anything to make sure the girl doesn't know what to do with my words.

"In the meantime, just pick something you really need to take. And soon."

Saying so a little harder, the girl shook her head sideways again.

"I don't have anything I want to take. Except this magic crystal stone."

"Okay. I know it's hard right now, but be a little more patient. And I want you to tell me your name."

The girl nodded cocoonly, "It's Luna," she told her name.

"Luna... So, Luna. This village is definitely in the village of Thyssek."

Nod small to my question.

"Heading to Thornbrough town. Do you know the way to town?

"Yes," Luna replied small, pointing west.

Thornbrough is a fortified city on Als Street, on the map, 25 km west of the village of Thysek.

If we leave now, we can get to town by around 6: 00 p.m. with our feet. Accommodation on Ars Avenue The town gate should close at 8 p.m., so we can make it in time enough.

But when it comes to taking a 10-year-old girl, it's subtle to be able to arrive, but it's still safer in the woods than in a village full of corpses. Because demons are hunted regularly, especially near Thornbrough, minimal safety can be ensured even if one has to camp near the town.

That's what I decided. I gave instructions to everyone to "leave immediately".

"Dan probes the enemy ahead of time. But don't go too far. The smell of blood may invite the demons to attack us."

Dan said, "Copy that. I'll see the way," he said, heading into the woods.

"Beatrice. I'm sorry, but can you take turns with me carrying Luna? Twenty-five kilometers is a tough distance for a 10-year-old."

"Right. Well, if you're as young as this, you don't have to worry about me carrying it all the time. Anyway, I barely have any luggage."

Our party is characterized by the small amount of luggage we each have. Because of my storage magic (inventory), I only need about a West Pouch with weapons and personal details - cash, emergency food, etc. For once, the backpack carries the backpack as a dummy so that people can see it, but it contains almost nothing.

"I think I'll be fine, but I'll take your place whenever I'm tired. Don't push it."

Tell Beatrice that, and I'll explain it briefly to Luna.

"I have to be in town by the end of the day. Because if you don't, you'll be spending the night in the woods. It may be a little hard, but I want you to be patient."

Luna nodded small and stood up slowly.

Because knowing the fact that my parents died was calm besides my thoughts, but at this point I was completely oblivious that they were normal (...) children. Somewhere in my heart I was chosen by God, so I might have assumed that I was different from some normal child.

The moment you step outside the house with Luna, a high hysterical scream echoes.

"No!

When she turned around in a hurry, Luna was walking behind her and holding her body, crouching in, looking directly down and meditating on her eyes and screaming.

It was a sight too miserable for a mere ten year old girl to see. She panicked and screamed at the scattered, crippled corpse.

(Shit! I only noticed the bodies of my parents. Someone I knew who lived in the same village until yesterday is dying with his guts scattered. I should have thought about it a little more...... even I'm used to fighting so much that I feel nauseous. There is no way I can stand a ten year old normal (...) child......)

Mel, who was walking behind Luna, rushes to forgive her, but looks down, just rocks her body with her eyes meditating, and the panic is unlikely to fit.

Approaching the crying Luna, a strange sensation of inadvertent glare struck me.

In front of me, darkness concentrates around Luna, and with it, the area gradually darkens.

Liddy screams, seeing the flow of spiritual power.

"The Spirit of Darkness!... It's amazing! It's dangerous if we don't do something!

Liddy's warning went into my ear, but I didn't know what to do, and I had to stand up.

In the meantime, darkness grows thicker as a vortex, and all around us becomes dim as if they were both eclipses.

I had a strong fear of the power of this dark spirit. The darkness has a strong viscosity like tar, and it comes wrapped around me. It was not just darkness, it was a deep darkness that planted terror directly in the soul. Squeeze your strength to endure that fear.

When the power of the Spirit of Darkness is further strengthened, now the power itself begins to blow like a storm.

Liddy and Sharon, magicians, sufferingly distorted their faces to withstand the storm, and Beatrice and Mel, who are not magicians, are also feeling strong power, shaking their heads breathlessly.

I ate my teeth and endured, and I was thinking of a way to open them.

(The spirits of darkness are spreading fear... no, you're just rampant... and yet this feeling is awkward. We need to do something about Luna...)

I had no idea how to give up a panicked child or anything, but anyway, I held Luna hard that it was the only way to give her peace of mind.

"I'm fine. Stick tight to me with your eyes meditating. I'm fine..."

With that said, I stand up with a strong hug and head slowly toward the woods. You can't get my word, you're still crying like crazy.

Encourage him to take a deep breath as he enters the woods.

"Breathe slowly..."

He was crying out for another minute or two, but his voice slowly dwindles just because he ran out of air in his lungs. Not to the point of settling down, but I started breathing slowly to see if I could still get my voice.

"Okay, that's good. Keep it up, spit it out slowly... yes, one more time, breathe..."

With that said, I whisper my back to give up my young child.

Repeated deep breaths had restored a little calm, and the brightness of the surrounding area had returned, and the power of the Dark Spirit like a storm had disappeared like nothing had happened.

After exhaling with great relief, he goes further into the woods holding Luna.

I just lost sight of the village and stopped.

"It's okay to open your eyes now. I'm sorry..."

Still keep your eyes closed tight and just stick to me. The length I showed earlier is foggy and feels trapped in my shell.

Sharon approaches and slowly strokes his head.

"You were afraid, weren't you? But it's okay now. There's nothing to be afraid of anymore."

The expression loosened slightly to the gentle words and slowly opened his eyes. Still, I didn't let go of my stubborn hands, I had no words just to look at the woods trees.

"I'll take it. Dan leads the way, Mel, Liddy, Sharon, me, Beatrice. I'll take care of the perimeter."

Luna was lighter than I thought.

He's not extremely small at about a hundred and thirty cm tall, but he's pretty skinny about whether the food situation wasn't very good. Still, if you hold him back for half an hour, he'll come pretty much to his arms and hips. My arms were weak and my muscles were shaking with pulls.

Beatrice tried to take his place on the way, but Luna didn't try to leave while sticking around, and in the end I had to hold him.

The vigilance is left to the five of us, even focusing solely on carrying Luna.

The only road leading to the village was the narrow enough to be called the Beast Road.

(That's worse than the old Rasmore Village road. You can't go through a carriage, can you? Well, based on the number of houses, the population won't be a fifth of the village of Rasmore, so I don't know if there's a wagon coming... and yet, why is there a pioneering village here?

What I wondered was why I bothered to build a pioneering village so far from the main street. Normally, it would be more efficient to open a place close to the place of consumption. If transport is developed, the distance of about twenty-five km is not to be concerned, but in this world where carriages are the largest means of land transport, the distance travels for a day.

And as you can see from this raid, it is close to the Aquila Mountains, where dangerous demons roam. If it's safe to be a little far away, it might open, but this is a far more dangerous place than safe.

Usually, when creating villages in such places, only if there are mineral resources, etc., or military bases, such as fortifications. The village of Thysek does not apply to either of them. By the way, the village of Rasmore was built for the purpose of supplying food to the fortified city of Kilnarek, a military base. However, Kilnarek has not become a military base because of the changed policies of the Empire.

(I have as much land near Thornbrough, but is that also a special reason?

I'm thinking about that in a corner of my head, but my vigilance continues.

We just went west for about an hour and went into a small pause. So I was finally free from Luna. But the expression remained off her face, and it felt like she let go of her hand as she was told.

"Next time, I'll carry this girl. Instead, Lord Shinkansen, please."

With that said, Beatrice laughs at Luna. When he came near me, he told me of the danger as he whispered in his ear.

"I have a bad sign. Watch your back because the wind is not looking good..."

If the oak comes after us from behind, we'll be better off in the wind in the west. Oak has a good nose, so you might notice this one.

It was strange that the oak with a good nose could not find Luna, but I asked Beatrice and she told me that it was because she was hidden in her fur.

"Then it's natural even if you don't realize it. There's a peel on the table, and there's fur underneath. I didn't even know that."

And I shrugged.

"Did this child's parents know that?"

Surely other houses found children hidden in spicy crates, cloth bags, etc. But everyone but Luna has been found and killed. The fur on the table didn't feel so new, so I guess her parents faked it to save her daughter.

(But if we hadn't come, there would have been an unaccompanied 10-year-old left behind. Well, if they attacked me shortly when I ran away, I guess I can only come up with a way anyway, but if we hadn't come, what would have happened)

If we don't arrive, Luna will be left alone in a village with no one. As far as roads like this beast path, few visitors to the village would have had to feed the wild dogs fishing for the bodies or the many wolves around here. Thinking about it, maybe he got some revelation, like me, and hid it under the floor.

(Even though God sent them, it's too harsh a situation for a ten-year-old girl. I lost my parents to shelter me and I lost friends and acquaintances at once. Did God give me a mission in anticipation of this situation? Then a guy named God does cruel things...)

It's been about two hours since I left the village of Thysek, and I take a break for lunch. Remove the bread, honey, broiled bacon and boiled vegetables baked by maid length Molly from the storage magic (inventory) as she leaves Rasmore Village. The bread is still almost baked after two days because it slows down the flow of time in the inventory considerably. Chop the bacon, put it in a wooden cup, magically water it out, and warm it with the magic of a pseudo-perche effect along with the chopped vegetables to make an instant soup.

Pass the honey-coated bread and soup to Luna, but as usual, the expression falls off, mechanically receives and eats.

Finish your lunch and continue west through the woods again.

I'll carry Luna, and the rest of you will be on guard.

Though there are no demonic raids, I feel similiar gaze to hostility over and over again. This forest seems more dangerous than it looks. I don't know if that's the usual thing or if today is special.

It went on for another two hours or so, and the sun was over Jomtien. It's in the deep woods and I have no idea where it is, but it's a more curved path than I thought and I don't feel like I'm earning much distance.

Even more troublesome, from time to time, we are beginning to hear demonic growls from the northeast. Still, it doesn't seem far enough to be visible, but it's pretty close.

"This is awkward."

That's how Liddy walked behind me.

"Oh. Keep it up, you'll be caught up in less than an hour. But we just have to move on."

Beatrice, who is further behind, also agreed, "Right,"

"It would be foolish to divide the forces in the present situation. Now I just have to get to where I can go. And then I hope things change."

Though I say that in a mild tone, it was clear that we were careful not to rush or be discouraged. Liddy knew that was all she had, too, and she didn't say anything more. Dans walking in front, too, probably felt anxiety, but concealed anxiety by focusing on vigilance around them.

On his back, he was asleep or there was a figure of Luna being carried quietly with her eyes meditating.

We walked even faster to get to Thornbrough.
