Dream Life

Episode 76: Retreat Battle

Tria Calendar, October 12, 2017, around 3 p.m.

Approximately five hours after leaving the village of Thysek. He aims to Thornbrough, an accomodation town along Als Street.

The only survivor of the village of Thysek, and those related to my destiny, Luna, has kept herself on my back to sleep because her spirit could not withstand the violent transformation of her destiny.

I have suffered many demonic raids during the time so far, but fortunately I have repelled them without any hand injuries because they were weak demons to the extent of giant spiders Giant Spiders and goblins. However, the distance is not as much earned as initially thought because the demons who usually flee quickly do not fear death.

More than that, you can hear the roar of an oaky demon from behind us all the time. And that's slowly approaching.

Others who had lunch were severely fatigued because they barely took a break. But no one spoke of it, and he was in a hurry, being more vigilant.

Suddenly, Beatrice's small, but sharp warning struck him in the ear.

"It's an oak! About two hundred meters back!

I have sensibly walked fifteen or six km since leaving the village of Thysek, but still have nearly ten km left until Thornbrough. It's hard to get away with wasting time here.

"Beatrice! Luna, please. Keep Mel in the lead! Dan and Liddy are bows, Sharon magically attacks me. Keep your enemies away!

If we were chasing a bunch of orcs, the number could be more than two hundred, or more than three hundred if we were bad. The oak itself is a demon equivalent of level six, and one or two is not a big opponent. But with all this number, the story changes completely. The oak is durable and difficult to stop with a single blow.

Beatrice is the only one of us who can tell us that we can take him down with one blow. A place like Narrow Road would also allow you to retreat while repelling, but in the woods, the moment you stop, you will be surrounded.

If the orc looming from behind is the enemy's main force, there is a better chance of survival by traveling with magic and bow restraint and slowing down the enemy's steps.

Did the enemy notice us, too, that the oak's characteristic wild roar trees spirits into the quiet forest?

Though the thick trunk of the tree, centuries-old, and the growing tree were blocking my sight, the enemy finally showed up.

The oak I've been chasing was very different from what I've been fighting for. Everything was armed with weapons.

Wild oaks may also replace affordable wood sticks with sticks, and very rarely, but by chance, they may use swords, axes, etc. But the following oaks even had decent weapons at the hands of men, some of which were crude but wearing leather protective gear.

They come running at all costs as their oaks sweep down the grass and trees. We have Luna here, so we can only run at a precise speed.

Fortunately, there are about twenty orcs within sight, not a difficult number to deal with, and there is no indication that there is a follow-on to the enemy.

"Dan, Liddy, there's a sequel. Really?

The two of you will get back to me as soon as possible.

"There's no sign of him nearby."

"I think so, too. At least I don't think he'll show up any time soon."

Two good scouts get the same feeling as me.

(I can handle this number...)

The operation of reducing the number of enemies while moving initially abandons and cuts the helm to the measures to sweep the enemies in front of you. But to earn some distance, I'll leave Luna to Beatrice, who can physically afford it, and let her get ahead of it.

"We will destroy those who follow us! Beatrice stay ahead of me! Mel needs an escort!

Beatrice says, "Don't push it," and keeps Luna on her back, running down the road. Mel gave him a disgruntled look, then said, "Okay," and ran past Beatrice. The reason for using Mel as an escort is to decide that someone should be able to fight closer than a long-range attack against an enemy that comes under attack in a wolf-like herd. She noticed that too, but she felt strongly about wanting to fight with me, and for a moment, she probably gave me a disgruntled look.

"Liddy and Dan attack me with a bow. Keep your magic as warm as you can, Sharon. I'll wipe out the rest at once."

First of all, we're going to reduce the number with ranged attacks, and in the meantime, I'm going to prepare and destroy the operation once and for all. But think about the imminent arrival of Orc's main unit and preserve as much magic (MP) as you can. Liddy knows that too, so he nods small without saying anything and sets up a synthetic bow.

Next to it, Dan also holds a bow and puts a second arrow in his mouth to see if he intends to fire in succession.

Sharon said, "You don't have to kill me. Because if I could stop her leg, it would be enough," she said, too, "Yes!" Replying forcefully, he begins chanting the spell with a rare graduation wand - the chief and the second seat are given a wand at the Tilia School of Magic.

"It is the god of the wind (Wentus) who brings many winds. Give me the wind, the arrow of invisibility. I give you the power of my life..."

Where the distance from the enemy cuts fifty meters, Liddy and the others start shooting arrows.

At the next moment, two orcs fell at the same time.

Looks like Liddy and Dan's arrows pierced the legs of two orcs running in the lead. Because of the distance away, he assumed to draw a parabola and seems to have targeted his foot.

Along with that, Sharon also activates magic.

"Pierce my enemy! Arrow of the Wind (Gael Arrow)!"

Sharon's chosen magic was not the wind arrow (wind arrow) commonly used by the magician of the wind attribute, but her (...) original magic. The magic arrows unleashed are so transparent that I wouldn't know if I hadn't stared nearby, and even I'm used to seeing them, I can't chase them through with my eyes.

Shortly after the magic activates, the orc targeted by Sharon holds down his throat and falls.

She chose this magic because it is transparent and therefore difficult to avoid at first sight, but for other reasons.

The magic of this windy arrow (gauge arrow) is characterized by flying at very high speeds, in addition to the characteristic of being hard to see. This is because it makes the arrow air resistance smaller than the normal wind arrow (windarrow), but Sharon's genius was demonstrated here.

In my case, to reduce resistance, I removed unwanted objects such as arrow feathers and imagined a shape as thin as a needle. As a result, it became faster and more penetrating than normal arrows of disease.

I tried to explain to Sharon why I did that and tell her to try the same, but the needle-like shape didn't activate well because the image of the arrow she had would collapse.

So she said, "It's the wind, so the air becomes resistant, right?" And she made the arrow of the vacuum. It was just a change of mindset, a way I couldn't think of in the end.

“Vacuum", that is, zero resistance if “None”, but that does not cause damage to enemies without hardness. But with flexible thinking, she succeeded in “cementing” a vacuum that was “nil”.

And I was even more surprised when I tested it.

The time between activation and hit was terribly short. I don't know the exact speed of a normal arrow, but it would be about sixty meters per second at the initial speed. But Sharon's magic arrow seemed to have five times that, physically, and more speed than that, for not having any deceleration due to distance. Maybe he was even over the speed of sound.

Just solidifying light, which is gaseous or immaterial, overshadows my common sense, but now it solidifies "nil”. I guess there is a reason for the solidity of my head, but even if the same “nil” state is shaped, I can't imagine making an arrow with a “vacuum", and the arrow with a strong wind (Gael Arrow) has not succeeded.

For once, the principle of this arrow of windy diseases (Gael Arrow), or reason, is considered. Going forward, I'm going to knit a new magic on that tip.

Although this original magic, the arrow of the wind (Gael Arrow), cannot be induced, it is very precise.

Originally, Sharon told his mentor, Professor Lionel Raspade, “a genius of magic control." Fixed goals would hardly have taken it off. And because this magic is so fast, a distance of about fifty meters would have made little difference between the current position and the future position, and it could have shot almost as fast as a fixed target.

Moreover, this magic consumes very little magic. When I asked him why, he said, "I've lightened the wind, so I don't think he uses magic for that matter". Without mass, they consume less magic, but I feel like they consume more magic than normal wind arrows (windarrows). This neighborhood would be the difference between me and Sharon's way of thinking about magic.

The three attacked, but the Orcs are indifferent to the deaths of their companions, coming at full speed without giving a glimpse of the upset as opposed to the fall of the companion who was running the lead. Liddy and Dan fire arrows, Sharon unleashes magic, but where five or six more are powerless as it is, they will allow them to approach.

If I can reduce it to about ten, I can wipe it out all at once. That said, I'm not going to use magic this time. I intend to slash and lay low with my sword at once.

Hide yourself in the bushes of the trees while the oaks look out for the three Liddies.

The moment the orcs try to pass in front of me, they jump to the side of the enemy all at once.

Magic sword that emits orange light in your hand.

It would be easier if the orcs were surprised and panicked at me, but I'm not upset at all because I'm being manipulated. However, this is woven and not discouraged.

No upset, but my legs stopped.

Poke that slight gap and hang the one who was running the lead with the temper of tearing.

Hang it from shoulder to chest and cut off every bone, causing blood splashes to rise.

"One first!

With a knife to return, slash up the leg of the oak that appeared on the left.

"Second one!

The sword, capable of even breaking high-strength steel armor, slashed and tore the oak's sturdy skin and femur without any resistance, severing his left leg.

Even as the two were slashed down as they continued to stand, the Orcs had their gaze on the preceding Beatrices. But if we don't get rid of the enemy in front of us soon, we'll be frustrated and raise the roar of anger if we can't move on.

He comes at me with his sword lifted up with that momentum, but there was already Dan with the sword next to me.

"I will fight too!

In the meantime, Liddy and Sharon step back behind us and be alert for any more approaching orcs.

The second magic sword emits a dazzling light.

My magic sword of light, and Dan's magic sword of fire. Together they glow orange and overwhelm the beholder, but the orcs being manipulated saw no fear but a frustrating roar. And it spreads left and right trying to surround us.

"Excuse me first!

When Dan yells that slightly cheerfully, he plunges into his enemies at once and waves his sword.

A little more than usual motivated Dan said, "I'll leave the three to you!" He shouted, "and I was slashed by the enemy, too.

Whenever two glowing magic swords shake, the enemy is sure to fall.

Dan is a light warrior style with the same emphasis on speed as I am, but the magic sword of famous Johann Vilt's Mithril had too much offense if Oak was his opponent. Even Dan, who is slightly less skilled, severs the enemy's neck or leg with his overwhelming aggression and ensures that he is powerless.

The enemy also had swords and axes, but just blindly wielding them made them hardly a threat.

Dan's battle also leads to the annihilation of ten orcs that allowed him to approach in just about two minutes.

This time, I didn't use magic just to keep the magic warm, just like the instructions to the Liddies. If it's about twenty, it's quicker to start with Range Attack Magic, but if you try to disable a durable demon like an oak no matter how efficiently you use it, it takes nearly 10% of all MPs. I already used blade tornadoes (tornado slashes) first thing in the morning, and also whirlwind blades (wind slashes), so I thought about reducing MP consumption as much as I could.

If we did not use demon fighting techniques and reduced the combat time to about five minutes, we thought that the MP used would only be six or seven percent of all MPs. As it turned out, Dan joined the fight, so he knocked it off in a shorter time than expected, so his MP hasn't dropped by five percent.

I would never have thought of such impotence before, but with the magic sword of Adamantite, the greatest masterpiece of legendary blacksmith Ulrich Drexler, I decided it was possible enough.

"You've worked it out. Let's go after Beatrice and the others."

Only twenty were ahead, but the oaks were still heard roaring from the northeast. The number that reaches at least three digits, rather than ten or twenty, from the roar that is heard, has come quite close.

While running, I was thinking about earlier battles.

I remember when I fought the drug-manipulated knights at Welburn Castle and wondered why they had been chasing me blindly.

(Same as then. The knights were manipulated with drugs, but the orcs are manipulated in the same way... but why have they been chasing us like crazy? Thinking of the raids in the villages of Clarae and Alice, I thought they were more cunning enemies... given the difference in travel speed from us, you can force them not to fight and block the escape route ahead. If the Demons are in command, it would be possible enough... for us to appreciate it... maybe even a trap...)

And another question was on my mind.

(I cared more about Beatrice and the others than we did. So the only thing I can think of is that they're chasing Luna... but why? How can you go after Luna? I don't know if it smells, but if I could smell this far away, I would have found it when I was hiding in the house, even though it was cleverly disguised...)

While running, I threw that question at the Liddies.

Dan and Sharon shake their heads sideways, but Liddy replies, "I know somehow".

"I feel the power of the Dark Spirit revolves around Luna. Like you said, if you're manipulated by dark attributes magic, it's not strange to react to the dark spirits."

Liddy can clearly see the flow of spiritual power. I'm not as clear as she is because I can feel it to some extent too, but I know what to say somehow.

"Are you saying Luna is being collected by the Spirit of Darkness?

Liddy says, "Yeah,"

"Hmm, maybe a little different... it looks like the Dark Spirit itself to me"

While questioning the orcs' movements, they increase their speed in order to catch up with the Beatrices, who are about five hundred meters ahead.

Catching up with Beatrice and the others, again, if you look at Luna, she can't even seem to hang a dark shadow in the dim woods alone. And somehow, but I also felt the power of the Dark Spirit.

(Surely the power of the Dark Spirit is unusually intense. I'm not pouring in... but if this was a light attribute, maybe it would have glowed...)

Once again everyone is in place and hurry ahead.

After running for about an hour, take a small pause.

The time was around 4 p.m., the day was leaning heavily, and it was quite dark in the deep woods.

They all sweated like balls and breathed rough because they kept running with little to no breaks pinched. Since I left the village yesterday, I have traveled more than eighty km through the woods. Today we continue to run on a path close to the Beast Road. I work out in college, but I just rarely had this much hard behavior, and since I graduated from college, I've had a lot of traveling on horses, and I've enjoyed it.

(That's just tough. Sharon and the others would be in a worse situation if I were this tired...)

Not particularly in his mouth, but Sharon's breath looks rough and spicy. Containing water in his mouth and keeping his back in the trunk of the great tree, he breathed heavily and looked up into the sky.

"Four, five kilometers to go."

Dan answered my question, "Maybe a little more,"

"I think the road was pretty bent. Maybe, but I think we still have seven or eight kilometers."

Liddy and Beatrice nod at his words.

"Right. You may be wrong because you can't see a landmark mountain or anything, but I'm sure it'll take you almost two hours."

"I agree with Lydiane and Dan. It would be subtle if we could get to town by sundown even in a hurry. than that......"

That's when the oaks roar.

"... I'm more worried about Orcs catching up with me than that. They'll catch up to you in less than an hour."

The roars of the Orcs are slowly approaching, and their numbers are certainly more than a hundred, not a small group like just now.

I decided to split the party.

"You need to hold back. Me and Liddy, we're gonna stop at Beatrice. Dan, take Luna to town. Mel and Sharon are with us."

Dan snorts reluctantly at my decision, but Mel and Sharon express dissatisfaction.

"It won't be a foothold! Let me fight too!

When Mel says so, Sharon also argues, "If you have a small number of people, you get turned around".

"I agree with Zach."

When Beatrice said so, Mel raised her voice and said, "Why not!" Raise your voice.

"It's going to be dark soon. We have a good night's eye, but you can't fight in the dark. That's what you're gonna say, right? Zach."

I nodded loudly, "This is the most sensible thing. And now I don't have time," he then ordered Dan, the calmest of the three.

"Dan! We're leaving right now! Orcs are not the only enemies. Don't be alarmed!

Dan nodded at my orders and immediately ran out holding Luna. Mel and Sharon also look around and admit that the Book of Darkness is starting to descend, they have no choice but to run out.

Turning around a few times, but seeing my resolve unchanged, I began to move forward vigilantly around.

Beatrice was right about the reason we split the party, but in addition to not having a good night's eye, there was a fatigue problem. Because I have “stubbornness”, which is a special ability, I am quite resistant to fatigue. Beatrice, the beast man, of course, but Liddy, the elf, also seemed less tired of traveling in the woods, and although he seemed tired, he could still afford it. Dans on the other hand, but Dan was tired of Mel and Sharon anyway. Mel is unfamiliar with the weight of the newly equipped chainmail, and Sharon is originally the lowest physically. We thought if we went into a night fight like this, we could both make a big mistake.

"Well, while I'm off, let me hear your operation"

When Beatrice says so, he makes a big stretch.

"Oh, for once I think about it. I'll bet it works."

Two people have a slightly nervous look on the words.

Oak roars were echoing in the woods where the cedar light shined.
