Dream Life

Episode 79: Sharon the Schemer

Tria Calendar October 12, 2017, around 4: 30 p.m.

The four of us - me Sharon Jakes, my brother Dan Jakes, my best friend Melissa Marron, and a girl named Luna who helped in the village of Tisek - are even fleeing toward Thornbrough, an accomodation town on Als Street.

Master Zach told us to protect this child (Luna) and go to Thornbrough, but I regretted not being able to fight with him when he told me, so I couldn't think calmly. The only person I could calmly deal with was my brother, and Mel had blood on her head just like I did.

When you calm down and think about it, what Master Zach is saying is more right, and in the evening, we will only be trapped. It is far more constructive than that to protect this child and flee into a safe town, which Master Zach must protect. But even if you know it with your head, your mind can't be easily broken. Mel seemed to be the same, and after leaving Master Zach and the others, he tried to turn back on his first break.

As soon as we got into the break, all three of us breathed rough, and for about five minutes we couldn't say anything. Especially my brother, who was carrying Mr. Luna, sat down breathing on his shoulders. Usually in the woods you never break the perimeter alert, but you seem so tired that you can't afford it. Mel sat out the same way, but he seems more sick of breaking up with the Zacks than he is tired. I knew right away because I felt the same way.

"... I'll be back"

That's how Mel shrugged with her contemplative expression.

"No! Even if we go back, we'll just get in the way of Master Zach. Better take this kid to town than that. Master Zach and the others can fight with confidence. So..."

My brother is desperate, and I'm persuading Mel, but I can't think of a word to hang up.

I was desperate to figure out what to do. How can I help Master Zach? And I've come to one conclusion.

"Let's get to town fast. Go to town and get help. So help Mel, too."

Mel stares at me with a sharp eye.

"What if something happens to Master Zach by the time we get to town! Going to town and calling for help doesn't mean Thornbrough's defense team is that big! You'll never make it!

She also has a point. But I had an idea.

"I have an idea... I have to go to town with all three of us first..."

I briefly explained it because I don't have time. My brother looked difficult, but Mel was convinced or quickly stood up.

"I'm all right now. Dan, you're gonna be okay, too."

That's what I'm saying and I'm smiling.

As always, Mel is switching fast and her brother is laughing bitterly at this development. But now I better get to town a little faster, so I got up right away.

And I turned to Mr. Luna and said, "Almost there, so bear with me," and carried him again.

Mr. Luna clings to his brother's back as he is told with a relieved look. My children, who are only ten years old, Dear Theo - Theophilus Lockhart, the three sons of the Lockhart family - or Sera - Seraphine Lockhart, the twin sisters of Theophilus - are the same age as my sister Eunice. I can't help but think that kids like that can't be normal with their family and friends killed.

Listening to me, Mel, who is so uptight in Russia, began to run the lead.

A Grade Five equivalent demon, the Gray Bear (Gray Bear), attacked along the way, but not long before I shot the magic, Mel was slashing it with a magic sword.

That gray bear was nearly 3m big when it stood up, "Out of the way!" With a single word, he swung up his arm and cut off the left hind leg of the gray bear that attacked him with a single flash, and where he fell he flew his thick neck like a barrel.

I've been attacked by demons several times since, but Mel almost knocked me down.

About an hour after the first break, we arrived safely in the town of Thornbrough when the sunset tried to hang on the top of the Porta Mountains.

Usually there should be a line of merchant carriages in front of the gate, but not a single one. I heard information that the orcs were around here, and even the dangerous Karsh - south of Thornbrough. It is said to be the biggest difficulty in northern Ars Street - there did not appear to be a merchant force to cross.

Your brother will approach the guard guard guard guarding the gate to try to explain. The breathing brother extended his spine and thanked him.

"I am Dan Jakes, a servant of the Lockhart family and a good man of Guy Jakes. We found a bunch of orcs being manipulated by demons! Now Master Zacharias, my second son in the house, is holding back the orcs! Rescue immediately!

My brother sued me just like I asked.

All I asked for was to name the Lockhart family and tell them that there are orcs that the Demons are manipulating. Even if my brother, only sixteen years old, says it, they think it's not credible, but no one here in Thornbrough will know the valiant name of the Lockhart family. So I thought if I knew you were a servant of the Lockhart family, you could listen to me. And the other important thing is for you to understand that Master Zach is fighting.

A man, about forty years old, who seems to be in charge of the defense team, will make sure his name is not false in our orb - a magic device that will prove his identity.

"I'm Norman Parks. He is deputy captain of Thornbrough's defense team. I'm sorry I'm tired, but let me tell you more. I'm pretty sure the Demons showed up."

My brother nodded loudly,

"I didn't see the demons, but the orcs had wiped out one village altogether. Very similar to the situation in the Kingdom of Kaum. And Master Zach, no, Mr. Zacharias thought the Demons were manipulating it."

"The village is wiped out..." Mr. Parks said in his brother's explanation, then immediately stood up and said, "I'm going to the mayor. I want you guys to follow me," he said.

"May I be the only one," my brother said, pointing to Mr. Luna,

"This child is the only survivor of the exterminated village of Thysek. I want to take her somewhere she can calm down."

Mr. Parks said, "Okay. Use the guard quarters," he said, ordering a young soldier about twenty years old to guide us.

I gave Mel a signal with my eyes, then I saluted Mr. Parks,

"I'm going to report to the guild. I'm still a fourth-level adventurer."

Mr. Parks gave me a surprise look, but he murmured, "Is it possible for Sir Zacharias to be a party member," acknowledging that I was headed for the guild.

When I asked Mel to "lend me your sword," she was leaning her neck at first, but she lent it to me without saying anything.

"I may be going to let go of this sword..."

Mel didn't seem to know what I was talking about, but she quickly became convinced of her face,

"You need it to help Master Zach. Then there's no problem. Leave it to you."

"Thank you. Mel takes Mr. Luna to a place where she can calm down. If you can, I want you to see it till you sleep."

It is clear that this child is responsible for this. Maybe about why, but I know why.

There is no doubt that the power of the Spirit of Darkness is concentrated on this child. It also seems like a collection of darkness with fear. If the mind can sleep quietly, the power of the Spirit of Darkness should restore calm.

Briefly to Mel, he nodded immediately.

"It's just like giving up a scared little kid."

As soon as I nod, I will talk to the soldiers in the defense. I headed to the guild to do what I had to do, admiring the fact that I was still quick to judge.

I'm going to the guild, but it's not the Adventurer guild or the Mercenary guild that I headed for. It was the “commercial guild” that I headed for. A dull stone two-story building, that's the commercial guild Thornblow branch where you're going.

Commercial guild branches are usually found only in large towns, but even though Thornbrough is a small town of a thousand people because of the difficulty here in front of Karsh.

When we opened the door to that branch of commercial guild, it was hall inside and there were many merchants discussing tomorrow's plans. Some were surprised that adventure-style women like me came in near the door, but most didn't turn their attention.

I went straight to the back of the hall and asked to see the branch manager at the reception.

"My name is Sharon, daughter of Guy Jakes, a servant of the Lockhart family (...)! As soon as possible, I'd like to talk to the Branch Manager!

When I highlighted what I called the "Lockhart family," the hall stifled all at once. The male employee, about thirty, who was at the reception, looked at what he was going to say, and then he smiled and talked to me.

"Lady, if you are a member of the famous Lockhart family, you are most welcome to meet with the Branch Manager without prior reservation (appointment) …"

Normally I would never, but it's an emergency today. Block the men's language at the reception.

"Dear Zach! We want you to help Master Zacharias! I need your help! I really need to talk to the Branch Manager for that!

You get a lot of people's attention, your face turns red, but you can't say that. Fortunately, the experience seen by many in Dr. Raspade's public classes in college seemed to have been brought to life, and embarrassing, but I managed to say it out loud to the end.

The inside of the hall shrugged heavily at my words. You can hear voices like "He wants you to help Sir Zacharias" or "He wants you to help him".

The receptionist just says "even if you say so" with a troubled face and never tries to move.

"We're fighting for a moment! You are now fighting the Orcs led by the Demons in the East Forest! Please. Please help Master Zach!

So I bowed my head a lot.

Inside the hall it calms down and no one opens their mouth.

There is a reason why I forced the Branch Manager to see me. This way you can get your attention in front of the reception where there are many merchants, and you can say even more about your purpose. It's not convincing for a little girl like me to ask for help, but I thought I could get a good reaction if I gave her Master Zach's name. But the merchants' reaction was dull, and most people just leaned their necks.

I decided to use my last resort.

But when I looked up and tried to use my last resort, someone I knew called me "Mr. Sharon".

That person was a slightly fat man about forty years old, a merchant who traveled with us all the way to Periclitle when we first went to Doctus, and Henry Norton, president of the Norton Chamber of Commerce, who was carrying Scotch from the village of Lasmore to Periclitle.

"I'm out of time. Mr. Norton."

Mr. Norton nodded small,

"Can you tell me more about it? Thank you very much to the Lockhart family, and especially to Zacharias, for their unrequitable gratitude."

I talked about the fact that the three of us are holding back over two hundred orcs, that the orcs are armed and very dangerous, etc.

"I would like the merchant escort to help Master Zach. I think there are about three hundred mercenaries in this town. That's all we can do to help."

Merchants shrug their shoulders in my words. One elderly man has joined the story.

"Unfortunately, it's a non-contract job. Poor thing, but I don't want our escort to scratch anything. Even if I can help you, you have to play the hand, and if a mercenary gets hurt, how are you going to take responsibility?"

I knew you'd say that.

"My protective gear was made by Mr. Luc Broich, a Dwarf armor maker. I think selling this would be a lot of money. I will compensate you with that money. If that's still not enough, take this."

That's what I said. With Mel's sword up, I pulled it out.

The moment I pulled out Mr. Ulrich's sword, a twirl was born in the hall. Add more magic to wrap up the blue and white light. Then, the twist disappeared and the area quieted down.

"This is the magical sword of Adamantite of the Ulrich Drexler master (...). It's the same sword Master Zacharias has, but this should be worth millions of C (krona). Isn't this enough?"

There seemed to be a lot of people among the merchants who would handle weapons, and they would hear voices like "It's the sword of Ulrich," or "Did the master craftsman use Adamantite," or "There should be buyers in the millions or even ten million".

Up to this point, it was just like my operation.

When I tried to utter the following words, Mr. Norton said, "Let's do the sword". And I declared it out loud to the other merchants.

"My Norton Chamber of Commerce pays extra!

A merchant reacted to that word. They make a slight mockery of Mr. Norton's face that he immediately realized what he intended, and what he would say if he hadn't. From the way I saw it, about half of them seemed to notice.

"If you still reluctant to send out escorts, you should stop doing business on this Ars street!

And he laughed at me nicely,

"Mr. Sharon is a fighter, isn't he? If you abandon the Drexler master and benevolent Zacharias, you won't be able to do business on Ars Street. I don't think you can go anywhere in the world."

Looks like my operation was completely spotted. I was going to use my blacksmith guild influence. My armor alone would have been enough in monetary terms. But now we're fighting for a moment. If I showed Mel's sword, he realized what I was thinking, like Mr. Norton, and thought he might move quickly.

There's another reason I showed you my sword. If I could not show you Mr. Ulrich's sword, I was going to tell you that the merchants who were here would sue Mr. Ulrich for abandoning Master Zach.

I mean, it's intimidation.

It's a despicable act of threatening the unrelated merchants, but I have no hesitation. Because I'm going to do anything to help Dear Zach, Lydia, or Beatrice.

But when Mr. Norton sees through his thoughts, he just embarrasses himself for his despicable behavior and blushes. Still, Master Zach's life is at stake, so I pretended to be at peace.

Mr. Norton turned forward again,

"No one will know the relationship between Sir Zacharias and the Blacksmith Guild. I don't know what would happen if you told me you missed the owner of that Zack collection... if there were enough horrible rumors I'd do my best, no, I'd do something with all my fortune."

I added a further word of futility.

"On the contrary, I think this is an opportunity, I... There's someone here who can get that effortless master craftsman to strike his sword. Can we go to Ars without showing a good place here!

Many merchants agree with Mr. Norton's voice.

"My Mills Chamber of Commerce will send out mercenaries to save Sir Zacharias! It's free, too!

"Neither do I. My Simmons Martial Arts Store will also take one skin off for Sir Zacharias!

One after another, screaming for the name of his shop, he tells me that he will lend me a mercenary of escorts to help Master Zach.

"Thank you. I will surely repay you for this grace! But I don't have time for this right now. Contact the escorts immediately. The rendezvous point is in front of the south gate. Please make arrangements immediately!

Looks like the merchants left the guild immediately and headed to the inn where the escort is staying.

Mr. Norton said, "Well, I'm going to persuade Curtis, the captain of the escort, too," and he left.

I put up with the fact that I was about to enter, and I spoke to the man at the reception again.

"Everything about this one is arbitrary of me, Sharon Jakes. So all responsibility lies with me. The Lockhart family is originally something that Master Zacharias doesn't even know about. Be sure to tell the Branch Manager about this."

The man at the reception seemed unsure how to answer, but another man's voice was heard from behind the reception.

"That's not true. Dear Jakes."

It was an obese man about fifty years old who showed up from behind. I heard the receptionist say "branch manager," so I guess he heard the noise and came out.

"I'm late to say hello, but I'm working for the Branch Manager of the Commercial Guildthornbrough Branch, my name is Graeme Savage"

That's what I've said, I've smiled and asked for a handshake. I kinda hated it with a slightly oily hand, but not if I cared about that now, and I also gripped it back firmly without breaking my serious look.

"I'm Sharon Jakes. What do you mean by that now? If anyone asks for compensation for damages in this case, I would like you to make a claim against me personally. I don't mean to bother you."

To be honest, I wanted to rendezvous with Mel right away and see how Luna was doing, but I'm not going to scorn (if not) the commercial guild here.

"No, I'm not thinking about the Lockhart family bill at all. Of course, Master Jakes, personally."

When I tilt my neck,

"If anyone sues for compensation, the Alliance will handle it all. Because I want to maintain a good relationship with Master Zacharias. Well, I don't think any fool would say that."

I can only see a little talk.

Commercial guilds have been in distress in Wellburn. No, you and Ladswell Borderline Uncle, the northern governor of the Caerm Empire, should still not have been able to repair the relationship. As a commercial guild, you want to sell favors to Master Zach, who is highly regarded by Mr. Borderline. That way, some Rod will hit Rosalie, the son of Borderline Uncle, and his daughter's son-in-law, so he may have thought he could take it with Borderline Uncle.

However, creating a loan to a commercial guild would be an inconvenience to Master Zach. You'll have to say it right here.

"I'm very grateful for your sentiments, but this is what I did. If it means I can't trust you, I'll ask the Jakes for a bill."

Savage Branch Manager shrugged his round shoulder and replied, "I accept,"

"That's right, you're in the second seat of the Tilia School of Magic under the sky. My thoughts seem promising."

The Branch Manager said so looking me in the eye. When I have an ambiguous look,

"This time I will be satisfied with being able to thicken the pipe with the blacksmith guild. But if you change your mind, Lord, could you please tell Lord Zacharias?"

I did not give a clear answer, I only answered "I'll think about it".

Master Zach is a very responsible person, so if you talk to him, he will always try to solve it himself. So even if the Savage Branch Manager is the better one, it is not for me and not for Master Zach to return the favor.

When I went outside, the town was completely dark. In the dark, we made our way to the defensive quarters with quick feet.
