Dream Life

Episode 78: Escape

Tria Calendar October 12, 2017, before 6 p.m.

Darkness approached the woods stretching east of Thornbrough, an accomodation town on Als Street.

The light that plugs in from between the trees is turning from orange to red, and even that is becoming weaker.

It's already been about an hour and a half since Dan and I broke up. If there is no trouble, it would be about time we arrived in Thornbrough, a fortified city.

He succeeded in stopping the orcs with the magic of shadow displacement (Shadowstoke) and had already pulled around for about an hour and a half. But if the sun goes down, we won't be able to take this way. Because even though this magic is dark attribute magic, it cannot be established without the light that creates shadows.

I've found out in the last hour and a half.

The enemy does not currently have a Demon clan in command. At first I thought I was in command from a remote location, but even though I keep wasting all this time for no reason, it's clearly an anomaly not to respond at all. There will be some circumstance, and it would be more sensible to assume that the Demons have left the orc.

But it's hard to imagine that there wasn't a demon tribe or anything from the beginning.

It is necessary to consider that there was an intelligent commander, given the combined appearance of the young people of the attacked village in Bogwood - the border town of the Kingdom of Kaum - after attacking the pioneering village in the Kingdom of Kaum and the fact that the orcs were in possession of weapons. There is neither the possibility nor the inconceivable appearance of a mutant species of oak, but at least there is no such individual in front of us.

(In any case, the orcs here are just orcs. No, there seems to be more fighting power than a normal oak, but for what it's dominated by madness, if you move well, you should be able to escape...)

After the shadows disappear, the biggest concern is how the orcs move.

From a situation where we are still following the power of the Dark Spirit, we are likely to head west to chase Luna. But when the sun goes down, the power of the Spirit of Darkness fills all around us, so we don't know how to move.

If you're heading west, you just have to run off on the tree. But if you're coming at us, running off on a tree is a bad idea. I can't get a satisfactory rest on a tree, so I won't recover much in strength and magic. Still, if you just put up with it on the tree for one night, there is hope if relief comes from Thornblow, but as things stand, there is no power in Thornblow to sweep over two hundred orcs.

Thornbrough has the strength to be exact. There are more than two hundred merchant squad escorts staying in town. There will also be about fifty more adventurers hunting demons around here. Add them to the hundreds of defensemen and you'll have nearly four hundred men.

But that's airborne theory on the desk. Even though the town is not being raided, we cannot force the mercenaries, escorts of the mercenaries, nor do the mercenaries participate in a battle that is not gold. The Adventurers may participate if the Adventurer Alliance makes a request, but they should be on two feet for a dangerous operation if not on fairly good terms.

With that in mind, the defensive squad executives who got Dan's report should first turn to Periclitle for help. In other words, our rescue operation is unlikely to take place.

Two days on an early horse to Periclitle, we form an oak sweep unit, and it takes nearly ten days to get here. We can't stay on the tree until then, so we can't adopt this proposal.

Tell Liddy and Beatrice to hand sign their way out.

You both thought the same thing about me, and they immediately sent me a sign of acceptance.

Move Shadow Stork the farthest away from us before sundown. He directs them eastward, making them look like they're passing on tree branches. The orcs headed east to be invited by the shadows.

In the meantime Liddy came down from the top of the tree. Beatrice also rendezvoused immediately.

"You're going away at once."

When I snort, Beatrice says, "You're a runner."

I didn't have to tell you, and I wasn't willing to fight back either. I may do enough to unleash magic while running, but I'm basically going to do everything in my power to run down the road.

Put all unnecessary equipment in the storage magic (inventory).

The forest was completely engulfed in darkness and my shadow disappeared.

The orcs are bewildered by the power of the Suddenly Disappearing Dark Spirit and raise a frustrating growl. Again, he showed a frenetic move and started heading west.

I'm relieved that I seem to be able to manage, but the situation changed quickly.

The orcs started heading west, but somehow they stopped moving. There was no such frantic move as earlier, and I was going right and left with the feeling that I didn't know what to do.

We quickly began our escape west.

Liddy followed Beatrice in the lead, and I began to run in His Highness, Shinkansen, but the occasional wind blowing through carried our smell, and when one orc shook up his sword and growled, he roared to be caught by that orc and began to chase us.

The distance from the orcs is about one hundred and fifty meters. Fatigue builds up, but unlike earlier, I can run with all my might. Fortunately, Orc is not a fast-paced demon and won't be caught up anytime soon.

It was "three” versus “two hundred” magnificent.

The orcs chase down with an angry look as they push down grass and trees with their thick legs.

We kept running, without stopping our legs saying it was over when we were caught up.

Unlike earlier crazy runs, the Orcs had chosen an easy route to run without running to the dark clouds. This is my first land, so I have to go down a serpentine path, and despite the speed difference, I can't pull it apart.

(I don't know what caused it, but it's a normal (...) oak now. For the cunning, it could be more troublesome than just now... it's dangerous as it is. What to do......)

Only anxiety solicits, but I can't think of a way to open it.

You can't concentrate while running, so you can't use powerful magic. You need to stop your legs once, but you will be surrounded while you gather the power of the Spirit.

(Nothing about casting a spell is going to rupture my heart and I don't think I can have a decent voice. Unchanted is too inefficient. What am I supposed to do...)

I'm already running close enough at a speed close to my full strength. As long as there is a speed difference, the speed is slowed down where the distance is taken, and we manage to keep running. Both Liddy and Beatrice breathe up, and all they hear is a rough breath of hey.

The orcs come after us with equally rough breaths, but they don't give up.

(It doesn't feel like crazy until the sun goes down. The Dark Butterfly Circle Dance (Spanglewaltz) is likely to work now, but there is too little time to activate it... there is no other way to open it than by magic...)

You're approaching the city, the road is almost straight, and there's a long line of oaks behind us.

(If I can confuse the lead group, I can buy some time... can't I use that!

I kept it in my storage magic (inventory), and I remembered something.

"Ha-ha-ha... buy some time... ho, I've come up with a way... ha-ha-ha... make him pack a little distance. Go ahead... haha..."

I tried to tell the two of them the operation with a rough breath, but I couldn't hold my breath and can't explain it.

"Ha-ha-ha... what are you going to do, ha... ha-ha..."

That's what Liddy asks me, but I just gently lifted my arms to respond so I could "leave it to you".

Slightly slowing the speed quickly reduces the distance that was available for about fifty meters.

(Sure, it should have been here... it's number five of f... ok, no body, but I can't say that...)

Remove a cloth bag containing about 1 kg of powder from the inventory.

He untied the string with his mouth tied as he ran and threw it loose to draw a parabola towards the orcs approaching about twenty meters. The powder is sprinkled from the open mouth.

An oak running the lead tried to slap that bag with a sword. The soft cloth bag is not cut off, and the contents are further scattered.

Fine powder dances, but the orcs thrust carelessly. Shortly afterwards, the two orcs who were running the lead threw down their weapons, covering them with their hands so as to scratch their faces, out of balance and fall. And the oaks coming from behind begin to suffer stuffiness as soon as they are powdered as well. Further afield, the long stretched line was in confusion, bewildered by the stuffy and afflicted companions.

Some of them went off the road trying to avoid their fallen companions, but their orcs also suddenly slowed down.

And the oaks' sneezing began to echo in the woods.

Yes, my throw was white pepper. I bought it at Welburn, finely ground, and when I returned to the village I gave it to Maid Director Molly Vassel, but I kept it in a storage magic (inventory) that slowed down the passage of time in order to preserve the quality of the extra purchases.

If you keep running and a powder of pepper strikes the mucous membrane of the oak's nose or throat where your breath is rising, you won't be able to keep running with strong irritation. In that case, it was a measure aimed at whether a chess knockout kind of phenomenon would occur from making a long line.

Only a few, but I bought some time.

Liddy and Beatrice had stopped at a distance to wait for me, but they didn't know what had happened and had a puzzling look on their face.

"Ha-ha-ha... what happened? New magic?

I shook my head sideways in a grin, but I said, "Let's hurry up" and I started running.

I made a distance of about 200 m from this pepper operation, but still a small distance enough to be caught up in about a minute if I stop.

I decided to use that little time and hit my next hand.

Simple magic can be activated without chanting. He kept running as he set up a magical and easy trap that he could use with his breath up.

The installation of that trap again reduces the distance from the orcs. Approached to about fifty m, he will stop setting up traps and focus on escaping.

Suddenly, one orc fell.

And a few oaks fall to get caught up in it. But the other orcs keep tracking down without anything, avoiding their fellow fallen over with a growl of anger.

A few seconds later, one orc fell over again. Even there, some orcs get involved and fall. Just go on twice, and the orcs seem to have noticed I set the trap. The orcs, who were not caught in the trap, began to be vigilant at their feet. But then it got trapped a few times, and each time, the orcs slowed down.

The magic used this time is the magic of the pit (pit), which is the earthly attribute magic.

It didn't create a big hole either, it just made a hole like a snag about 20 cm in diameter and 5 cm deep. Because the power of the Spirit did not gather, and because he did not want to take the time, he pushed his palm against the ground while running, activating magic to create a dent.

Normally, this is not how we can do it in traps of this magnitude, but the fact that the orcs are chasing a narrow path, and that their feet are covered with grass and hard to see, makes even a harassing trap somewhat effective. And no matter how dumb the oak is, if you fall over and over again, you'll be on guard. If you're alert, the speed will drop for that matter, and if you go down the forest thinking the road is dangerous, the speed at which you run will still fall. I aimed for that effect.

Keep running as you take measures close to harassment. Some bodies, such as grey bears and forest wolves, were rolling along the way. Looks like the demons who attacked Mel were paying back.

I only saw it for a moment, but a giant gray bear nearly 3m was completely severed off his left leg, and I also saw traces of a large slaughter on his neck.

(Are you knocking him down with just two machetes... that's a scary move even if you used a magic sword...)

I kept running further and finally saw the city of Thornbrough. Above the high walls of Thornbrough, a fortified city, many bonfires could be seen, luring them as if they were lighthouses. I felt that my desire was making me do so, it seemed brighter and more radiant than usual, and that my strength would return to my legs.

(This will work out. How to prevent it at the castle gate. I hope the gate closes in good time......)

I was thinking about that, but I was never alarmed.

But about a hundred meters from now, Liddy fell from the woods with her feet taken by the roots of the trees.

I've already been running for nearly thirty minutes and that fatigue seems to have driven my usual senses crazy and prevented me from falling.

At that time, I was about 100m away from the orcs, but I see Liddy falling over, and he comes towards me with a roar of joy.

"Liddy!"

To my scream, "Oh, it's okay! Go ahead!...... haha......" But you foiled your legs when you accumulated fatigue and fell, trying to get your sword up on your cane, but you can't get up inside.

Beatrice causes her to lend her shoulder immediately, but she still sprains her left leg, which upsets her balance.

Liddy said, "Ha-ha-ha... put me down and run! Quick!" he exclaims, shaking Beatrice off.

I exhaled loudly.

"Ha ha... you're an ankle... you made a forest and you're a great tree god (Albor)... Phew... heal the wounds of his Ka by the power of the Spirit who nurtures life. I don't give my life for the price..."

I cast a spell trying to hang the healing magic, but I can't hold my breath and cast a spell. When Liddy said, "What are you doing!," but ignore it and hang the magic.

"... healing power (heel)"

When they finished hanging the magic, the orcs were imminent in front of them. That number would soon swell to more than a hundred, even dozens within sight.

"Ha-ha-ha... apparently, you couldn't get away with it... but let me scratch you bad foot"

Beatrice was already breathing and had an invincible grin, "Let's see how far we can go".

Liddy, who caused it, was in tears, but pulled out his sword and groaned, "How could..."

I set up Adamantite's magic sword,

"There's no way you can leave me. Hey, Beatrice?

When you say that in a mild tone, you say, "Right. There's no way I can leave you," he replied, sticking his spear out at the impending oak in front of him.

Beatrice hasn't let the spear wrap the magic, but me and Liddy are. Orange dazzling light shakes in the dark.

I wave my weapon at Oki's back.

My magic has already been reduced to about a third, and I can't keep it active for that long. Liddy used quite a bit of magic, so it would be something similar.

Multiple rings of oak envelop us.

From there, I keep waving my sword unconsciously, and I don't remember much. Knock it down or not, the orcs won't break off, and the siege gradually narrows. I was attacked several times because of my fatigue and the amount of enemies, but Georg Stokke's Black Dragon armor protected me, and I'm not injured enough to be able to move. I was concerned about how Liddy and Beatrice were doing, but I could only scold the enemies who came in front of me.

I don't know how many minutes I've been fighting, but all of a sudden, from the west, I'm like, "Ooh!" "The whisper rose.

The orcs react to that voice.

I saw my voice better so I wouldn't make a gap, too. There I saw dozens or hundreds of magic props of lights and pine lights, plus two magic swords that emitted blue and white light and orange.

"Dear Zach! Are you all right!

I heard Mel's tall voice from afar.

Shortly afterwards, a bright red flame suddenly spread to his sight. It was unleashed by the orcs surrounding us, but in the dark it was bright enough to dazzle our eyes.

Probably the fire attribute magic unleashed by Sharon, but I conceived so much heat that I didn't know what magic it was, I felt a hot air about 10m away that my lungs could burn.

Immediately afterwards, a single tree is pressed and broken with the sound of an explosion.

to the magic and sudden appearance of people. The orcs began to retreat behind the woods. When Sharon's magic was struck in again, the orcs ran away disrupting their calculations.

"Thanks... Liddy, Beatrice, are you okay..."

The moment the tension in the battle was lifted, strong fatigue and pain struck.

"I'm fine. The strike is terrible, but the bones don't look like anything. Thank you, Lord Gaelknote."

Beatrice's leather armor was worn out, but the chainmail he was wearing inside was completely preventing the Oaks from attacking.

"I'm fine too...... I'm so sorry. If I hadn't fallen..."

Tears, the last one had a vanishing voice. He seems to regret falling at the end.

"I don't have a choice. I think it's weirder that nothing happens until the end of the day."

"I think so, too. It wasn't a strange situation for anyone to make mistakes. Anyway, the results were good, so now you can forget it"

I couldn't watch Liddy, who was so depressed, I decided to change the subject.

"If the magic is going to shoot, will you keep the water hanging there? I'm already teasing you."

Because of the magic unleashed by Sharon, the weeds and trees were smoking.

"There's no choice in this situation, but it's a fire."

Liddy nods small, watering the smoking grass.

As I did that, Mel and the others approached me.

Mel said, "Good!" She cried and hugged me.

Behind you, Dan and Sharon approach with a relief look on their face. Behind it was a group of defensive soldiers and mercenaries. They had light magic props or pine lights in both hands.

(From what I've seen, there's over two hundred of you. Maybe more than three hundred...... then most of the mercenaries in Thornbrough will be in... who arranged it......)

That's over my head, but now I can't turn my head because of fatigue and out of magic. Put your hands on Sharon's head with a crying look on his face as he moaned and cried, "Thank you," he said.

Sharon was about to cry, too, but Beatrice urged us by saying, "We'll be in town by now."

I was thinking about what happened today as I pulled my fatigued, heavier legs.

(In the end, I wonder what happened. There is no demon clan that I thought was there, and there is no consistency in behavior. There were many strange things about the orcs' behaviour as well. What struck the pioneering village of the Kaum kingdom for a purpose...... the village of Thysek is probably because Luna was there, but so those orcs are the ones sent by the enemies of the “gods”?... too little information in any case. In the meantime, I just have to think about keeping that kid (Luna) safe now...)
