Dream Life

Episode IX: Completing the Wall Defense

Tria history March 10, 2018.

The tumultuous year 317 closed the curtain, marking the year 318, and two months have already elapsed. So far, we have seen no movement of the vigilant gods' enemies, and days of tranquillity continue.

About Luna, the one sent to God, but after about five months of coming to the village, he still doesn't open his heart. My mothers and Liddy care, but if we don't get them out of the room, they haven't changed at all, like they're stuck in a dark room all day.

One thing that seems to be making only a little progress is the mosquito-like voice against Mel and Sharon, but I've come to say thank you. Little by little, but I'm beginning to hope it's improving.

It's no big deal, but there's only one thing I care about.

That's about the color of Luna's hair.

I initially had brown hair with slightly darker eyes, but my growing hair had stunning dark hair. I haven't heard the reason yet, but apparently she was dyeing her hair.

I ask a lot of people, changing the color of their hair is rare in the country, and they were all, leaning their necks.

I wonder if Luna's parents disguised this as a distraction from the enemies of the gods. However, it didn't mean that there was never much dark hair per se, and I couldn't think of a reason to go that far.

Hall Hill fence, but was completed in the middle of February.

The defensive wall has been completed, but since the tower for air defense has not yet been completed, it is incomplete as a defensive facility, but, as planned, the work of stretching the wall five meters wide by three meters high and the moat three meters wide by five meters deep around the entire area of the Museum Hill has been completed.

The road connected to the south of the hill is made into a "jump bridge", and when the bridge is raised, there will be no place to cross the moat completely, so you can expect adequate defense against attacks from the ground.

Truth be told, it takes the most time to make this bouncing bridge.

The need to pass the moat made it huge, about ten meters long and about five meters wide. The thick plates of sturdy wooden woods are tied together and reinforced with iron plates, so it weighs quite a bit.

Due to the need for thick chains to operate that huge bridge and the fact that counterweights were applied to allow immediate closure in small numbers, the weight is superior to twenty tons. The structure that supports this heavy object becomes the main entrance, but it becomes huge, fifteen meters high and ten meters wide, and it takes nearly two months to make the bridge alone.

So much so that my father and grandfather asked me if I needed this much, that this peaceful village could have an incompatible construct.

As it stands, it is always open, but once every few days, including confirmation of the mechanism, it is opened and closed. It is this opening and closing operation, but the weight of the counterweight helps the person raising the bridge, so the two of us can move it enough, but the person lowering it will have a shape that defies its weight, so it feels like it can be lowered by four people. Of course, in the case of raising the bridge in an emergency, if the clutch between the stopper and the winding mechanism is removed, the mechanism is used to raise it automatically.

I started building walls and was curious about the colour, but the red earth colour was strong, so I thought about making it a brick colour. When the whole area was bricked, it felt like it was topped off, so I mixed the white sand and made a brick pattern with the image of drawing a white line on the surface.

In order to prevent intrusion, the surface is molded flat so that no clue protrusion can be made, so it looks like a brick patterned wallpaper in close proximity, but looks like a brick wall in the distance. It matches the brick walls of Scotch's reservoir built on the hill and he praises it for not looking so bad either.

The moat is constantly flowing with clean water drawn from the storage pond, a fresh stream about a meter deep. I intend to build a simple fence to prevent falls as the child passes nearby, but so far I haven't got my hands around it.

There are only a few stone columns in this moat. It's for replicating Kyoto's "riverbed” by putting up a wooden floor in the summer. The place is the closest to a public bath and is going to be open to the villagers.

As for the fish, there are only small fish who have come of their own accord from the river, and they have not been farmed. Now I have too much to do and I can't get around to it, but then I want to get started.

Two anti-aircraft towers are built near the main entrance. The vertical and horizontal are five meters high and thirty meters high, but a staircase needs to be built inside, and it takes about ten days to build one.

At first I tried to build it along the wall at fifty metres apart, but then I abandoned it because it would only take about twenty meters. Considering the placement of ten soldiers in one place, we would need about two hundred, because the protection of the wall would be too thin. Now we intend to focus on building near important facilities such as mansions and schools.

The school gymnasium is almost complete. The foundation part was made with my magic, but it's basically made of wood, so it's made by the craftsmen at the behest of my squire Nicholas Garland. There are other factors as well as winter snow, and no matter how idyllic they are, it seems to take time.

Crossbow, which is in the process of being deployed as equipment for air defense, finally reached fifty units. I haven't found a craftsman yet, so I'm asking the blacksmith Beltram and his wife Meena for maintenance.

In addition to Kurt and Doris, who are coming from Wellburn to train at Beltram, we need to look for dedicated craftsmen by the time they return to Wellburn, although they don't seem so bitter because of the addition of three Dwarves for distiller making training from Ars.

This crossbow, but not only the vigilante, but also the women of the village remember how to handle it. Now I'm just still practicing toward earthly targets, but when I get used to them a little bit more, I'm going to use a magically flown target. I'm going to use Dark Attribute Magic Shadow Displacement (Shadowstoke), but Sharon was thinking of another magic.

Sharon's thought magic was a great bat made of wind attribute magic. The size is about seventy centimetres long and about two meters when the wings are spread, an excellent way to reproduce even the complex movements of bats. Leading archers such as Hector and Guy are now targeted and trained.

I asked Liddy, who attended the training, "That's hard. Harpy would know the movement somehow, but Sharon's bat can't read the movement at all. But that would be a good training," even Hector, the best bow user in the Lockhart family, admits it's difficult.

"It's a tough business to hit that move. We finally know what Zach thinks about how many bows we're going to need."

If I had said that but within twenty meters, I would have almost certainly let it hit me. No matter how hard you use a strong bow, it's impossible to hit it without anticipating a future position. Though the back of his forehead doesn't look glowing, a leading archer may see ahead like the “new (N-Type)" of the space century.

Asking Sharon why he bated, he said he had decided to refer to the information he had examined at the college and to the story of Byron Seedorf, a former officer of the Royal Kaum Army.

"Because I heard that Winged Demon Lesser Demon and Little Demon Imp have bat wings. Besides, Mr. Byron said the little devil's movements are similar to bats..."

This bat magic, like my shadow displacement (Shadowstoke), consumes less magic because of its “zero" attack power, allowing it to run longer. The drawback is that it is hard to see because it is not colored, but it is hardly a problem because it can be seen enough at a distance of about twenty meters.

Another magician, Liddy, but I still don't like original magic and I haven't been able to make magic that can be targeted. She herself was dented about it, but I guess this is normal, just me and Sharon being abnormal.

It's about me, but I'm building a fence, but I don't lack the training. Wall-proof construction consumes a lot of magic (MP), but it doesn't take much time, so you can take enough time to turn it into training.

I turn to training for about two hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon.

Thanks to that, the Swordsman level is rising. By the way, the current status is as follows:

Zacharias Lockhart, fifteen years old, magic swordsman, level forty-five.

I had a forty-three swordsman level when I graduated from college, so I'm going to have two levels up in the last six months. They say it's unusual for a level to rise at this pace at this level. But Mel, who is more level than I am, is up the same way, so he wonders, "Is it really unusual?"

That Mel, but like me, has risen two levels in six months, with forty-nine swordsman levels and fifty swordsmanship skills. My brother Rod has a sense of crisis with this fact and says, "I'm going to be outrun soon," increasing the training time for swordsmanship.

By the way, my brother's swordsman level is fifty four and his skills are fifty four as well, unusually high as I don't think he is a young man in his late teens, but with Mel at sixteen, no one in this village thinks he is unusually high.

Dan also makes an effort, with thirty-six swordsman levels, thirty-seven skills, thirty-eight bowmen levels and thirty-nine skills, making him more combative than a veteran mercenary. Even more notably, sign detection becomes forty-nine and covert forty-seven, and scouts with such abilities are rare in the adventurer's city of Periclitle.

Sharon is active in making training targets and cooling beer in liquor stores (?) Because of this, the wind attribute has risen to forty-nine and the fire attribute to forty-seven. Plus thanks to the training Liddy and I continue to have, I also have twenty swordsmanship skills, and if I am a soldier in line, I raise my arms enough to deal with the sword alone adequately.

Liddy and Beatrice, but these two are steadily on the level, too.

In addition to Wind Attributes 57, Water and Wood Attributes 56, and Light Attributes 52, Liddy has reached Archery Skill Level 52, steadily increasing the level.

Beatrice originally had a high level of magician, but still has an even higher level with level 62. To use divine spears at this level, even my grandfather said, "I can't say I can beat Miss Beatrice for sure".

Preparations for such a steady interception of the enemy were well under way. But because there was too little information about the enemy, everyone kept trying to be stronger.

And although it is a brewery, “Peat", found in a village near Ars, arrived last November and is beginning to be used to dry malt. Pete was also working on the “New Pot” shortly after distillation, and he finally got his eye on the production of smoky scotch. It was just a rating that started Scott, no one had noticed Pete's goodness, and it just smelled like booze.

I should get results on this in a few years, and now I'm starting a heavy Pete Ted that made it work stronger, and I'm trying a lot of different ways to make it work.

Today is the day of the arrival of the Distilled Liquor Regular Flight (Scotch Liner), and after work on building an anti-aircraft tower, we were preparing to ship the Scott and Zach collections.

Around 2 p.m., working in the storage bin with Scott, nearly ten wagons entered Kanga Hill.

Scott, who stopped working hands, looked up and said, "That's more than usual, isn't it?" and lean his neck.

I say, "Right," but I knew why.

"Oh, that's the carriage at the Marquis Seawell house. Yesterday evening, a messenger said to have visited. That carriage is the finest wine of the Seawell family."

When the head of the Scotch liner, Nathan Barlow, raised his hand and pulled over the carriage, he smiled and said, "You're going to be fine, Master Zacharias". When I return the greeting,

"This time the envoy of the Marquis Seawell family is more accompanied. I'm so sorry, but could you please accompany me to your lord?"

With the carriage behind the Scotch liner, he found a rider wrapped in noble luxurious horseback riding clothes.

Barlow said, "I am His Excellency Viscount Ignacious Radford. It's a heavy town in the Marquis Seawell family," he whispered.

The Viscount was about forty years old, not feeling like a samurai, but was the second with a slender body without luxury. He was a person whose stroked dark brown hair and nicely groomed moustache reminded him of a dandy actor.

"Are you from the Lockhart family?

I bowed my head greatly to that question and said, "This is the first time I've seen you. My name is Zacharias, the second son of Masaias Lockhart," he replied.

The Viscount said, "Is your lord the famous Lord Zacharias! You're young," he said, "I'm sorry. You haven't said hello yet," and have a beautiful meeting.

"My name is Ignacious and I am a member of the Marquis of Seawell and the Viscount of Radford. See you later."

I am offered my right hand with a refreshing smile. The words had a play, but I didn't feel anything like disgust with the natural behavior that seeped out.

Shake hands and say, "Then go to the mansion" to give guidance.

"It's a brilliant fence," the Viscount said as he walked, "I heard rumors, but so many fences on such a periphery..." he murmured in haste, "No, I'm sorry. I didn't make a fool of myself," he said lightly.

I expected that kind of sentiment, so I said, "I don't care. Because it's rarer to have a fence in a place like this off the Imperial prints," I smile back.

"No, I've never seen such a stunning fence in a village this size, even close to the Imperial Capital. Heard it was done recently?

And when I say, "Yes, it was finished the other day," I'm surprised to hear, "Without taking more than six months, Sir Zacharias, are you alone?"

I nodded small, "Because I'm the only one in this village who can use earthly attribute magic. I applied what I learned in college, how many minutes it was made by amateurs, so as much as I'm ashamed," he laughs.

When I whined to my words, "Nothing like that... but I didn't expect you to make so much to protect the" Zack Collection "..." I stopped saying any more words. One of the knights walking behind him also said, "You're focusing on protecting this place for the lack of a fence in the village. I see..." I was convinced by myself.

You seem to be mistaken as rumored to be running on Als Street, but you didn't dare correct it.

Barlow and Periclitle merchants Norton told me that the story of me magically building a fence seems to be a famous story on Ars Street. To protect Scotch, I guess they say Zacharias is doing something that doesn't even clap.

Even for me, it would be more convenient to assume that they are protecting the Zack Collection, which is “strategic supplies” as a reason to build a barrier. So, without denying the rumors, on the contrary, he actively tells the Barrows, "It would be tough if the bandits did it," he says.

I will guide you to the mansion, taking care not to laugh bitterly.

Going to the mansion, my fathers were picking me up because someone had distracted me.

"Welcome, you're here. I'm Masaias Lockhart. I'm sorry I'm a rogue, but I don't know the official greeting."

When my father greeted me with the same smile as usual, the Viscount said, "No, no, you don't have to worry about it,"

"My name is Ignacious and I am Viscount Radford, the minister of the Marquis of Seawell. I'm here in the name of the Marquis' owner, Clemens."

I was uncomfortable with the low waist of the Viscount as I listened to this exchange.

(The Marquis Seawell family should have been related to the Emperor. Looks like you could be a little more great if you're on that edge...... Marquis tells you to make friendships with Lockhart? That could be enough because he was a loose person...)
